Like the hair Lisa - hope the book is coming along - maybe lots of ideas from this post. So for the bag - how about one of those mini-bags which go inside your handbag so that you can fill it with the things that you always need to transfer when you change handbags - you know - pens, oombs, nailfiles, train pass, little change ourse, etc. And for the kit - what about a little round zipped change purse? ;o) Judy
Win a Bagutte Clutch Purse and Amy Bag Pattern!!
Yep that's 2 posts in a day. After this I have a whole chunk of writing to do so I won't be blogging for a wee while (though I will be checking in on the blog as I always do). Some folks might dread the onset of Autumn, but me, I love it. Loads of new craft books, fabrics and other craft deligh...
Hi Kyoko - have been so busy lately that blogging and commenting are suffering, but I had to comment on Charlie since Tracey and I have conversed some - the initial contact was because I saw Charlie on her blog and was SURE it was really my Sam - they are very much alike in looks, age and temperament, it seems.
Glad the moth is gone!
I love Feline Friday! And I would like to participate sometime with Sammy, Dylan and Jello - maybe that would be the prod I need to get me back into the blogging groove? x ;o) Judy
Ahhh. St. Cyprien. Have been there - my brother- and sister-in-law live in Montcaret, which is quite close to Bergerac - on the way to Bordeaux. I somehow missed that fabric shop, though. How could that possibly be? The embroidered linen is indeed gorgeous. And my mouth is watering with thoughts of the cheese and bread (and wine). YUM! ;o) Judy
Our Frenchy Cheese Fest
Bonjour Mes chers amis! I think I said that right... Just got back from a few days in a very delightful medieval town called St Cyprien in the French Dordogne. One of our friends has a big barn that sits atop a hill over looking a lush and wild valley. We went as a large group and we all has ...
Oh Lisa - sorry to hear about the theft - it is so upsetting to have this happen - it's not so much the money as all the palaver to get everything back together with cards and so on. Anyway, I think your thief deterent deserves to appear in Vogue as the latest must-have bag accessory! ;o) Judy
Stop Thief!!
Thank you everyone for congratulating Al (and me) on finishing his med degree. You folks are very kind. OX! But for all of the great news that we've had lately I'm a tad p*%$ed off this morning because last night my purse was pinched from out of my handbag (right from under my flipping nose. Li...

Tracy - sorry for your loss; very difficult to lose those whom we love. I hope you have a safe journey home. Thoughts are with you ... Judy
I'll be seeing you...
We leave for our trip across the big pond very early tomorrow, Tuesday morning. Today is packing and all last things, and mostly a lot of excitement! However a touch of sadness and heavy hearts... My grandmother, my Mimi, my Momma's mother, passed away during the weekend. We had hoped to be ...
Well, since this little beauty is made from the Moda Hello Betty range, then maybe it could be called the Hello Betty Bag? Nice one, whatever she ends up being named.
I have a Jelly Roll of this fabric range and am busy trying to design a Hello Betty Strip Quilt.I like it!
;o) Judy
Name the Purse Kit, win the purse!!
Yes, I know; it's all a bit contest-tastic on U-Handblog lately; it's just the way that my blog cookie is crumbling at the moment, but I am in the middle of writing up a decent freebie blog bag making tutorial so I hope that will help make up for it :) So here is my latest Purse Kit design all p...
And me! ;o)
400th post = MEGA Bag Making Booty giveaway!!
Yes, so I've now posted 400 times on my beloved blog (I'm giving my blog a big cuddle right this moment; it's brought me so much happiness). And doesn't the number 400 itself look so official and sturdy? Thanks to everyone who has congratulated me on my moments of joy, laughed at me and with ...
1. Grow a few inches. Mmmm probably not going to happen. Rejoice in the fact that you can wear killer heels and not feel Amazonian.
2. Lose a bit of weight - well - this from someone who regularly blogs about food porno!?! Seriously, from photos you have posted, I cannot see why you need to?
3. Grow me some boobage - well, I need some too, so there's always the possibility of buying some. Not for me, but hey - lots of people do it. LOTS.
4 & 5 - Rich would be good, famous might be a pain?
6. And for the one on the list which is well under control ... June seems to be a lovely month - Mums know best and besides, it's OX-June!
Good luck with all of these!!!! ;o) Judy

Name the purse; win the purse!
Another one of my purse kits (in the making) hot off the sewing machine! This new kit is suitable for anyone who hasn't had a go at making purse frame purses before. The pattern is easy going and I have pared down the instructions to the bare essentials. I wanted to make this kit easy for n...
Ok, so I am glad I am not you just at the moment. I mean, the flamingo one is so funky, the Chinese propoganda tres cool, and the Miffy one - well, Miffy just makes me smile. So - yikes - rough decision. On the other hand, how can you lose???? ;o) Judy
It's an important decision...
...deciding upon which calendar to get for a communal area of the house. I mean we all have to look at the thing for a whole year! I'll be getting this calendar for my work room: The Whip Up Crafty Calendar. But which to choose for the kitchen? Why is me who always has to choose the commun...
Hi - I am in it to win it this time! I LOVE ZAKKA!
I often get Japanese craft books from Amazon Japan - this link will access the English language site so that you can search and buy in English. The shipping is very reasonable and I thougt much cheaper than somewhere like YesAsia. I ordered books on a Sunday evening and received them bright and early on Tuesday morning.

This is such a good idea, Lisa - someone wins a cool book, and all of us get all these wonderful links! Thanks! ;o) Judy

Hi Lisa - Happy New Year to you - here's to all good things for 2009!
Love this bag - the colours and the dots and the red-zip-because-you-can.
A pattern would be good .....;o) Judy
Sewing World Bag Apr 09. Chocolate Drop Shoulder Bag
Blimey! Wendy (the editor of Sewing World) will be shocked that for once I'm on time to hand in my bag design for the magazine. My promptness is probably due to my going away for a week, not some New Years resolution to be super efficient (I've given up on making New Years resolutions, been the...
First of all the purses are great. I kond of like The Posie, but then that kind of limits you to using florals in your kits - which may be fine ... How about Proper Popper? I also like your idea of Puffy-licious, but then wouldn't you have to win your own bag? ;o)
Name the purse; win the purse!
Hot of the sewing machine and hurriedly photographed. Hence to dodgily lit photographs (what can I say? The light in the UK is eternally crap for taking photos). So here are my first 2 successful prototypes of a purse that I will (in the near future) be launching as a kit. I just love the uniq...
These are so very pretty - Corina's, too. ;o)
Look at you sew!
I get such a buzz from seeing U-Handbag bits made into items good enough to eat, it's lovely for me to see these bag making supplies taking life. Not only that, the talent and skill you have in bag making is so inspirational to me. Here are 2 delicious items which caught my eye lately: Flor...
Ahh Lisa - I can see why you are excited about this one - da bag's da bidness - nevermind just the handles. (I ordered a pair last night after seeing them in your WIP posting). VERY VERY NICE INDEED.
;o) Judy
Thursday's WIP (aka the Gas Bag) is finished.
Every now and again (like; I mean rarely) a project is a joy from start to finish. From the time you dream up the design (in this case on the phone to the gas & electricity people - hence the name 'Gas Bag') to the moment you snip off the threads from the last seam. You know what that means th...
Hi Lisa - it seems to me that some people have a chip a mile high on their shoulders - perhaps thinking that they are getting a raw deal. But I can pretty much guarantee that most people in this country don't even know what a really raw deal is. People in Sechuan know and people along the Irrawaddy know. I saw an example of blatant racism last week on the tube, and I was like you - my mouth fell open. But - I did nothing. By the time you see someone being like that AND ADVERTISING IT to anyone around - well, I think it is far too late to do anything. Its' depressing - which is why I read craft blogs - they're happy places!
What's up with some people?
I hope you all had a lovely weekend everyone. It was really sunny for us in London and I planned to spend most of the weekend with the widows wide open doing some sewing, but unfortunately Al had other ideas and he insisted I help him in the garden doing some much needed (and boring) maintenanc...
I would like to try felting - I always thought it was a bit stodgy but look at those bags in the wet-felting article in this Handcrafted: not at all stodgy and in fact just looking at these photos gave me about 6 ideas. I would also like to learn how to silk screen - and - oh yeah - how about working witn leather so I could make those cool slim leather handles that you often see in Japanese bag crafting books. All I need is T-I-M-E!!!!
Handcrafted journal Review & Giveaway!!
Here is a review of a fabulous current issue of Handcrafted: 250+ of our favourite Crafting Projects. This journal is very high quality in both content and build. It's so dripping with crafty eye candy, and packed with different tutorials it's hard to know where to put it (on your coffee tabl...
I can see why you chose to post Gill's bag - it is SO beautiful (and my favorite colour). Certainly qualifies for Eye Candy.
Gill's Purse
Thanks for your brill recipe and food site recommendations everybody. I have put your foodie recommendations in Misc-list mania (on the left side bar) so they can be accessed easily because we all gotta eat (well) don't we? Please keep them coming. I wanted to show you this very gorgeous purs...
I do love your website, your customer service and your blog(s) - but aren't there SO many bags to make in too little time!?!
ANYWAY - my 2 choices of tutorials - 1st: Silk Pleated or Darted Purse, and 2nd: Hex Open Bag Frame.
And, 2 choices of fabric - quite easy really - any of the Moda Fresh Air and any of the Moda Loft - love them all!
Thanks!
