Laury, have I missed it or is there a place on your site that tells the story of your motivation for moving to France and gives some insight into the purchase of your wonderful stone house? Have you written a book about it?? I just love these kind of stories as it enables me to enjoy the experience vicariously!

A very insightful viewpoint, Laury. I've always "enjoyed" the WWII era but have always looked at it from the military point of view....the hardships faced by the British and American fighters. Your review of the book, "A Bag of Marbles" insists that I now take a look at the other side of war, especially in a country where the emotional bonds are personally strong. Thanks for taking the time to highlight this fine novel. P.S. I too, have see many monuments dedicated to the children of France but most of them have been honoring those lost in WWI, which seems to have made more of an impact on the nation.
Cute story! I agree about the ABBA effect.....I have Mamma Mia loaded on my Ipod and watch it every time I travel long haul!

Love la laitue story, Laury. The French are so generous and friendly. I found your site (grâce à Kristi Espinasse) and look forward to reading the rest of your wonderful French adventures!
