Yes, you're absolutely right. I corrected it. Thanks.

That's a really good point - I hadn't noticed the discrepancy between the two stories. I wonder what's going on.

To add to what Vet said, Jake White with the SPCA of Central Florida said this: One can vaccinate their dog, but depending on the age and immune system of the dog, it might not be effective. Yes, 100% of our dogs receive a DHLPP-CA vaccine upon arrival (D for Distemper), This vaccine closely resembles the measles vaccine in humans, you need more than one to boost the immune system. If a dog came into a shelter ALREADY INFECTED, the vaccination would not be effective. In addition, for up to 90 days, it could show no symptoms and spread the disease to other dogs that do not have a strong immune system (young, old, and stressed dogs).
I'm so glad!
SLM--Yes, the off-leash area will return to off-leash all the time.

Thanks for the advice, Jessica! I had heard it isn't good to comfort your pet too much because it reenforces their fears.
I know! The first one is my favorite. It makes me want to go out and get a pink trench coat, an awesome pair of shoes and a basset hound.
It's kind of funny to think of truck drivers with little dogs beside them. But it sounds very sweet!

I'm so happy you're addressing my favorite topic! My family and I loved brunch at Sweet Traditions french bistro in Winter Garden (your review here: http://www.orlandosentinel.com/features/food/orl-thedish2808nov28,0,3095285.column) In Orlando, I know it's a chain but I always enjoy Mimi's (a plus: they have Arnold Palmers). Also Brian's on Orange Ave for the cinnamon rolls, and Christo's in College Park for all around good diner breakfast.
Gail, Lorinda - would you recommend the particular companies that you used? If so, what were they?
I'm so glad it made your day! I'm currently editing a video of some puppies that I think will make you smile.

Juju - Jake was microchipped, and had a collar, the problem was nobody who came in contact with him were able to physically catch him, until the greenskeepers at Bay Hill.

Cheryl, Thanks for the warning about Comfortis.
Huh: As I said, the class is free for people who work or volunteer at a shelter or rescue group. If you don't fall into this category and want to attend the class, it's $25 if you've adopted an animal, and $45 otherwise.
Thanks for bringing up D.E. This is what the Park Avenue Animal Hospital says about it: While the diatoms are not harmful to people or animals, to fleas they are very abrasive and cause dehydration, leading to death. Diatomaceous earth can be used indoor and outdoor, however it must be used sparingly indoors and with proper ventilation. It can be very irritating to lungs and mucous membranes if inhaled. It is inactive in the presence of water, so use it on dry walk ways, dry porch/patio, dry sandy areas around the home. In Florida, in the summertime, it's hard to gauge when we're headed for a true dry spell, so the use of DE is not always the first and best solution.
Good to know, Juju! And Savannah is a great walking city, so your dog can get plenty of exercise at the same time.

Thanks Bonnie, the post does note that the original plan provides 14 acres for dogs and 2.5 acres for non-dog people, and the new plan gives 11.5 acres to dogs (I didn't spell it out, but if you do the math, that leaves 5 acres for non-dog people.) It's up to readers to decide if that's adequate.

not really her - I think the story misspelled her name; I believe that was in fact Deana who posted the comment.
Carmen-point taken. JMG might have been referring to the fact that the shelters seem to be overloaded with homeless pit bulls and pit bull mixes.
