Hi Pat, I know you are a bit better because you are thinking about and doing a tablescape. It is perfect I might add. Sometimes to many frills take away from the lovely place settings. Love the basket of apples too. I am happy you are returning to better days and more energy. J is a keeper but you already know that.
The grand dog is adorable. He will be a pretty big pup. Molly has competition now. Poor Molly.Smile!
I have a hard time painting wood but my pick would be black if it blends with your decor.
Wishing you 'more' feel better days.
Big hugs,
Jeanne
Lite Lunch in the Dining Room
Dear fellow dish fanatics…she is on her way back. I thought I would take a nap Monday, late morning, but encountered a tiny problem. I kept seeing this table. No matter how many dishes, instead of sheep, I counted, I did not fall asleep. I asked J to help me gather four Mikasa French Countrysi...
Good morning Susan, I am enjoying some time to visit my sweet blog friends. FB just doesn't do it!!! My last couple of posts have been about quilts and here you are getting ready to put your quilts in a show. I agree that finishing the quilts is the biggest job. Especially the way you have to put your name on everything. Have a wonderful show and please do a post on it.
Wishing you happy days.

Getting My Quilt Show Ducks in a Row
My Mother's Day roses from Andy are still beautiful. Time is running out to get my quilts all ready for the quilt show. They have to be turned in on June 17, for the show that will be June 21-22. I have been stitching labels and binding all weekend. I still have three labels to attach, I hav...
Good morning Pat, It is a wonderful world and I am thankful today to have time to visit my dear blog friends. I have missed visiting you and FB just isn't enough. Your arrangement is perfectly beautiful and the colors make me want to find some gorgeous silks and make one too. That won't happen in our small town though. We are going to Florida this Friday for our granddaughter's HS graduation and I will shop then. In the meantime I will enjoy yours. Smile.
Wishing you happy days.

Bouquets and Bell Jars
A new silk floral arrangement for the coffee table began with a visit to The Flower Petaler, Saint Charles, MO. I chose six silk stems, at the shop. Two Dahlias, three Peonies, and one green Hydrangea. The summertime chartreuse pillows, on the sofa, were the catalyst for the colors. ...
Hi Pat, I have missed your lovely posts because of a blog break. I'm back. Your photos of the flowers are beautiful. It feels like I am looking at a magazine spread. But...Snow? Crazy weather to say the least. It is very chilly here right now. Bill read that this is the coldest Spring in the history of the USA. I believe it!!!
Happy weekend.

A Fickle Season
We visited nurseries and garden greenhouses, Thursday. The photos in this post are just a few that I shot. Beautiful flowers and glorious colors. It was difficult to make a decision. And then… May 2, 2013~Snow in Kansas City Missouri (Xanti’s Photo) SPRING~THURSDAY’S INSPIRA...
Hello Pat, your photos of the past gardens are wonderful. Your post caught my attention because we re really improving our garden area this year. We just bought some special formula dirt and have high hopes for great growth. There is nothing more lovely than well kept gardens. Good luck with yours.
I always pray for J because Parkinson's can be debilitating. I know meds are better than ever so I pray he continues to do well.
Happy Spring,

Hi Susan, I'm like Barbara Anne in high gear. I am having a wedding shower for my great niece on this Saturday. Cleaning, cooking, hanging pictures, you name it. Oh and setting tables and cleaning the darn silverware. It will all be worth it for my sweet niece.
Love your pup keeping watch with his play buddy. A very nice photo op.
I will start my tags on Monday and I won't stop until I'm done. I have all my stuff, so it is all about starting. HA! I am so glad you are joining in.I thought we only needed nine. I could be wrong. I am sure your tags will be perfectly wonderful. I look forward to receiving mine.
Enjoy the quiet moments.

Quiet Days
Skipper and Blue Toy on neighborhood watch I'm working on some Easter altered tag art for a swap. I have half of them done (five) and have five more to go. I'll show pics tomorrow maybe. Not much else going on around The Yellow House.
Hi Kay, Just dropped by to tell you I am praying for your husbands return to good health. I am so sorry to hear you are going through so many worries.
Blessings and Love to you and your family.

Here we go... A New Year!
Happy New Year! Christmas and New Year's past by very quickly at our home ... I usually wait until after the New Year to take down all my decorations but because we were moving everything came down on December 26th. I am thankful to say we are moved into our new home...still unpacking and lookin...
Hello Pat, I didn't know this was your post and I am delighted I came over to see you today unknowingly. The swan pitcher is gorgeous as your centerpiece for your beautiful tablescape. Swan's are the most graceful and beautiful bird ever. Your title suits your tablescape perfectly.
As for the snow, my SIL lives in Kansas and they also have crazy weather changes. We are pretty predictable here in the mountains of Western NC. It is rainy and chilly with colder weather ahead. We are in the South and Spring comes early here. I'm ready.
Stay warm.

Winter Swan Song?
We Shall See "Swan song" is a metaphorical phrase for a final gesture, effort, or performance given just before death or retirement. The phrase refers to an ancient belief that swans sing a beautiful song in the moment just before death, having been silent (or alternatively, not so musical) ...
Hi Kay, I know you have your hands full but I wanted you to know you are in my thoughts. Your move is coming along I know because of FB. How wonderful that you have been published in Sommerset Life. I do love the photos so much. I admire your creative talent very much.
Happy days to you and yours in your new home.

~Winter Gardens~
There is a privacy about it which no other season gives you.... In spring, summer and fall people sort of have an open season on each other; only in the winter, in the country, can you have longer, quiet stretches when you can savor belonging to yourself. ~Ruth Stout Dining room garden in ...
Oh Pat, orchids are so amazing and beautiful. I would love to attend the show but I'll just to wait for your fabulous photos from this years show.

Hi Pat, this caught my eye as we are annual pass members for the Biltmore. It is an amazing home. We live about one hour from there. I have not watched Downton Abby but I really want to start this season. Many people love this so I am going to be a new fan. I am intrigued.
Happy 2013.

~BILTMORE & DOWNTON ABBEY~
JUST A NOTE Downton Abbey is much older than Biltmore, however, I can’t help comparing the two. The era in which the series is set is the same as when Biltmore was young. When we toured Biltmore, one rainy December day in 2007, we imagined what it must have been like to live there, when it w...
Hi Pat, I am remembering the ice cream shoppe in St. Josephs when we met you and J.
A lovely day with lovely people. Since we were on a cruise in Europe for a better part of Dec. I did very little decorating. Your new years mantel is inspiring. I am ready for a facelift on mine as well. I know you will love redoing your home for winter instead of Christmas. I will too but I wish I had a store like the one you visited. No such luck here in our small home town. We do have a fabulous view though. Smile.
Happy New Year to you both.
Love,
Jeanne
~Out With the Old~
HEARTH ROOM WINTER MANTEL Christmas dismantling has begun at our house. Remember…we move slow, it may take awhile. Even though we enjoyed the Christmas mantels, by December 27 we were ready to take them apart and get back to our ordinary rooms and views. My first new post, after my blog break,...
Oh my goodness Susan, We have experienced similar situations and more often then is acceptable. This is more common than you know. The sales pitches are so annoying. You poor thing. Bill was on the phone with apple just yesterday for 1 1/2 hours to get a small problem solved. He was exhausted. I have no idea how to fight back.
I think you will be happy with AARP. My MIL had it and it served her well.
Now rest up and think about sewing. I can lose myself when I sew on a project.
Wishing you happy days ahead.

Telephone Trauma
I'm not stupid. At least I wasn't before I started the telephone marathons I've been through during the last couple of days. Now my brain feels like it's been through a chipper/shredder. It started yesterday. We've been having such problems with our internet service that I was not happy and J...
Hi Kay Ellen, The tress you decorated are 'beautiful.' What a fun job. My sisters have a very large space in an antique mall and their open house is this weekend as well. They have been doing this for 25 years. They do the Atlanta Scott's Antique Show each month too. One of my sisters lives in Atlanta and the other one is my backyard neighbor. Thus, the name of my blog. We live 2 plus hours from Atlanta and I love to go there to shop antiques etc. Their business name is Bluebird Antiques. I hope you have a great open house. Your space is lovely.
Happy Pink Saturday,
Hugs,
Jeanne

Hi Kay Ellen, I love your story of your blue inspirations. Lovely photos and Disney World? Awesome for a birthday celebration. Our son-in-law works for Disney in Orlando and when we lived there for 13 years, I can tell you we were regular visitors there. We could go for free.
I received your wonderful giveaway and I am thrilled with the lovely gifts. When I opened the box the pink and white pom pom just blew me away. I love everything vintage so the cup and saucer and the small print are treasures for sure. I bet you made the pin cushion and since I have always loved to sew it will be put to good use. The heart and the necklace sure made me smile. Thank you so much for the gifts and the fun I had opening each surprise. I felt like a kid like when my grandmother would give us a surprise box if we were sick.
Big happy 'HA' going on here. I will share it next Pink Sat.

Hi Susan, Your journal is fabulous. I love seeing all the pages including yours. This journal journey was so special. It is hard to believe it is over. I will enjoy a break from the responsibility of the challenge but I admit to having so much joy in creating something I never dreamed I could achieve. Enjoy your beautiful journal Susan. Thank you so much for sharing every page. I will share mine soon.

Heart to Heart Journal

Good morning Susan, I like this recipe. I will follow your advice on the changes. I use cornbread mix as well.
I think Sophie looks adorable. We are getting our Cheri' groomed on Monday. Her poodle hair is also easier when shorter.
Wishing you and your family a happy Thanksgiving.

Crockpot Chicken and Dressing
Some of you asked for the recipe for crockpot chicken and dressing, so I'm posting the recipe that my friend Martha shared with us at bee. I have not made it yet, but I know already that I'll do a bit of tweaking. Instead of using half cornmeal and half flour, I will likely used cornmeal mix, ...
Hi Pat, Your Fall photos are beautiful. There isn't much left here in the mountains. The Cuivre River is beautiful. The park is lovely too.
I'm glad J has meds to help the symptoms and that your Life is good. Positive is what you need to be Pat. J and you are in my prayers.

~Fall Continues~
DEAR SEASON I realized, this evening, I haven’t posted anything since Wednesday. Saturday morning, we took a drive through Cuivre River State Park. We were surprised to see quite a bit of beautiful color remaining. J saw the neurologist Friday afternoon. He confirmed the Parkinson’s Disease...
Hello Pat, thinking of you and J so much lately. I came over to tell you we are praying for you both as you go through another challenge. I know the strength you both have to keep going and I admire you so much. We wish you both well as you live each day with positive determination. I have full faith that you will be fine.
Now that I am here, I was thrilled with your beautiful table setting and the gorgeous flowers you used for the centerpiece. The photos are sharing the lovely details of the gorgeous everything. I also loved the poem about the color purple. Nice job.

AUBERGINE When I think of Aubergine I think of Kitty Bartholomew and her HGTV show. She used Aubergine quite often. I enjoyed her show. Do you remember Kitty? I found a 2009 real estate link, showing her Santa Monica home, when it was on the market. You can find it HERE. DEEP PURP...
Good morning Kay Ellen, I want to make these muffins. since I have not had breakfast yet. I am jonesing for one right NOW! I have already had my coffee though. Coffee is my wake up call the minute I put my feet on the floor.HA!
Speaking of 'HA' I have my 'finished' journal and I adore the many pages. Your pages are darling. Your personal photos are my fave and the daisies with the button messages in the center are special to me. One day I will have to share a HA moment about daisies. One of my favorite flowers. Did you do this because of my last page in my journal? I loved that page with my journal family in the center of the daisies. Thank you so much for your contribution Kay Ellen.
Have a wonderful weekend.

Good morning Susan, I rec'd my journal and I am thrilled with every page. You have no idea how fitting the last page was being upside down for the best HA! moment. Seriously it was perfect, even if you didn't mean to do do it that way. Your pages are darling, as I am so much an animal lover. The tag and the pages really are awesome. I am in love with my entire journal. Thank you from my heart to yours.
The quilt you shared is so beautiful. Julia did a fabulous job on her quilt. I would have loved seeing them and the program. I know you enjoyed the program on Mennonite quilts so much. The Mennonites are famous for their beautiful quilts.
Have a wonderful day Susan.
