The Row by Row Experience started on June 21st and this year every state is represented! How cool is that? Not that I will be able to go to every shop, but it allows for so many quilters to be able to experience what is so special about the Row... Continue reading

This is one of my favorite weeks in the year, the week of the NJ Shop Hop. It actually started last Friday, I am late to the gate! Actually, I did not plan on doing the Shop Hop this year. Too many things going on and too many obligations make... Continue reading

I would love to win this class - I have so much to learn! Thanks for the opportunity to win!
I purchased the Row by Row fabric in Delaware, at Serendipity Quilt shop. If you go to the Row by Row website you may be able to find a shop that is still carrying the fabric. Good luck with your search!

Mark and I really enjoyed our drive from Dover, east to nearly the coast of Delaware for a visit to Serendipity. Housed in an unassuming red clapboard building, Serendipity looks like the home of a friend. The open porch that spans the width of the building is home to sturdy... Continue reading

I usually have a plan. I developed my system for hopping pretty early on. The first shop hop I attempted was our state hop in New Jersey. At that time each of the quilt shops designed one part of a quilt. The minute I saw the quilt, I knew I... Continue reading

Nestled in a small strip mall in Dover, Delaware, not far from Where Pigs Fly, is the Delaware Sewing Center. This shop is one of two owned by the Reed Family. I stopped by this shop right after lunch on a very warm summer afternoon. Inside was cool and friendly.... Continue reading

The Lil' Country Shoppe was the first stop on our shop hop this past Tuesday. It is about an hours drive from our home in New Jersey, making it comfortably close to visit again. The Lil' Country Shoppe sits on the property of a working farm, an idyllic piece of... Continue reading

The process of planning a hop is one of my favorite activities. I try to squeeze as many shops as I can into one day's adventure. Since I do not want to miss a thing, planning is essential. My first step is to sit down and decide which shops I... Continue reading

A thought passed through my mind as we walked up to the back door of The Little Shop, like going to an old friend's home, "back door friends are best." I don't know if that is a real quote that I have heard someplace but I certainly believe that The... Continue reading

In the simplest of explanations, a shop hop is an event sponsored by a group of quilt shops encouraging participants to visit all of the shops included in the hop. What do you do? 1. Pick up a 'passport' at your first stop or download it if available from online.... Continue reading

Thanks for stopping by ladies! I really enjoyed visiting Susan and the shop which has been a favorite of mine since my first visit last November. Joyce, thank you for mentioning Gina Gempesaw, I will need to look for her patterns in my copies of Quilter’s World and other publications. Please stop back as we will have visits to other shops both near and far. If there is a shop you think we should visit, please let me know. I am always willing to hop to a new shop! joyce

Thanks for stopping by Mieke! I think that a trip back before September 21st is a good idea. They added 300 sculptures from Seward Johnson that will leave after that date and most of his work is just so life like. I was amazed at each corner! I agree, having the Grounds for Sculpture in our backyard raises the bar just a bit. We just love spending time there. Did you know that the libraries have passes that you can check out? It is worth looking into! joyce

My husband and I pulled into the parking lot at 4:45, just 15 minutes prior to the posted closing time. Inside the shop we were met with several cheery hellos and, "Please take your time" after a quick apology for arriving so close to closing. The Round Bobbin is bright,... Continue reading

Hi Mieke! Thank you so much for stopping by my blog and Etsy shop! I am trying to build readership and I am working on some new designs that haven’t quite shown up yet! It’s funny you should mention Mark and I and our cameras. I always tell him that we deserved each other because no one else would be quite as patient with all the picture taking we do! I will see you next month! joyce
