Crawling around, my two little ones on Jessica’s first Christmas. Jason was 2 years, 9 months and Jess was just 9 months. Even when they were little my children were best buds. Grateful for the blessing that is my children. Related articles Christmas in NOLA Postal Love Remembering Continue reading

Maybe a little more than a week ago, this was the scene in our front yard. Our “blizzard” dropped about twelve inches of snow on our yard. Sunday Mark and I spent a little bit of time shoveling, but not too much. We’re like that you know, just enough to get the cars out and us to the cars. Other than that - we would... Continue reading

Friday morning this was the view from my classroom. Just three minutes before I found my camera the snow was falling in huge white clumps. I felt like I was in a snowglobe. Then, just like that, it stopped. I tried to capture the moment but it was gone too soon. I am so happy that I was able to experience the beauty of that... Continue reading

Conjuring up plans for the holiday season, 2016. I’m thinking of making dear Marlow a quilt so that when he moves out he will remember the time he spent with us. This spooky Halloween collection from Moda seems like just the ticket! I think he may identify with the black cat in the promotional materials. Perhaps if I start the quilt now it might be... Taking it all in. I do not spend a great deal of time out and about in the days before Christmas. When I do head out I love to see all of the holiday decorations. Christmas trees decorated, lights on the houses, blowup snowglobes on peoples’ lawns and those crazy lights that put lights all over a house. I love it all. I also love... Continue reading

Lauren was over, again. Actually, she was not able to stop by either Monday or Tuesday so today we had much to do. The top and bottom borders were added to her t-shirt quilt and then we laid out the backing in order to sandwich the quilt. I found it funny that Lauren was so stressed and kept asking me if we were doing it... Continue reading

Early Saturday morning, long before I woke up, Bonnie Hunter introduced her colors for this years mystery quilt. Based on her spring trip to Tuscany, Bonnie selected colors from the landscape, architecture and foods of that region of Italy. I was unable to make the trip to Lowe’s yesterday and I was hoping that the paint chips were not completely pillaged by the time I... Continue reading

Yes, this one with the big plate of pasta in front of her, is moving. Yes, she’s moving to Alabama to live with her husband who is currently stationed there for training and I can’t believe it. This photo was taken the evening before our first tri. We began training together at the beginning of 2012 and by September we were ready to compete. Since... Continue reading

Thursday was all about friends. I had texted Bunkey to tell her not to bother stopping by. She was coming to help clear all of my studio stuff out of Mark’s office and I had done most of that. Oh no, she said. I have to come because Robin is meeting me there. Well, it appears that Robin and Bunkey had met at the Endo... Continue reading

Friday I had a special visit from my little friend Arya. We went exploring in the vegetable garden and she was able to take home some zucchini and a few Sandia peppers. She was so excited to see the strawberries adn blackberries. I know as she gets older she will be a big help to me in the garden. I’m looking forward to more visits... Continue reading

The Row by Row Experience started on June 21st and this year every state is represented! How cool is that? Not that I will be able to go to every shop, but it allows for so many quilters to be able to experience what is so special about the Row... Continue reading

Scent is such a strong reminder of days gone by. Last night, while I was heading into the gym, my nose caught a whiff of honeysuckle. Memories came flooding back. As a youngster, I had a penpal from Japan. In our letters we shared little snippets of our lives. Once, we each shared our favorite scent. Mine was honeysuckle and hers was sweet pea. I... I would love to win this class - I have so much to learn! Thanks for the opportunity to win!
I purchased the Row by Row fabric in Delaware, at Serendipity Quilt shop. If you go to the Row by Row website you may be able to find a shop that is still carrying the fabric. Good luck with your search!

Day 24 - 30 Days of Gratitude: Postal love sent by a dear friend. When Naya told me she was crafting, I had no idea that I would be the recipient of her craftiness! Aren't these leaves just wonderful? I used them to decorate the buffet in the dining room. They look wonderful with my fall decorations and her artwork just makes them pop! Such... Continue reading

Day 17 - 30 Days of Gratitude: We made it back to the pool! Woohoo! My tri buddy and I did not look so thrilled, lousy photo, but seriously, it felt good to swim. Over 700 yards and then a dip in the hot tub, a wonderful way to end a chilly evening! I am so grateful for my tri-buddy, Jackie! Even though we were... Continue reading

Day 12 - 30 Days of Gratitude: So very grateful to call this young man my son. Actually, we are both looking quite young in this photo. This photo was taken in Jason's neighborhood, back when we used to stop at the Devil's Den quite a bit. Jason and his Coogi sweater and me in my way to old hoodie, so typical of us. Jason... Day 11 - 30 Days of Gratitude: USHER! I was so excited to win tickets to Usher's concert at the Wells Fargo Stadium on Tuesday evening. Even though it was a school night, nothing was going to keep me from seeing Usher perform in person. He is so very talented, seems so genuinely happy and puts on a tremendous show. Boy can he dance! I... Continue reading

Day 10 - 30 Days of Gratitude: Ahhhh, Monday. While I am not a fan of Mondays, I am grateful to be able to spend some quality time at home on a Monday evening. This particular Monday I was busy grading papers, not so bad, at least I was at home and not still in school. I am blessed to live in a home that... Continue reading

Day 9 - 30 Days of Gratitude: Sunday afternoons in the fall and football. There is nothing better than staying home on Sundays. I love doing Sunday chores, catching up on cleaning and watching football. If I have stayed on top of my work, I also, sometimes, have time to sew. That makes for the perfect Sunday! Continue reading

Day 7 - 30 Days of Gratitude: These ladies make me smile! I am grateful for the opportunity to meet and work with this incredible group of women during my recent trip to Bethlehem! We accomplished so much in a small amount of time by working collaboratively and efficiently. Our late nights were filled with belly laughs and giggles that brought tears. We shared stories,... Her Story: Today was all about choices. I made the choice to stop pressuring myself to accomplish everything that I need to do for our refinancing while working my crazy long hours. I took half a day on Monday and that allowed me to take care of filing important documents with the county. While in Camden I captured a photo of this church. I love... Continue reading
