Every summer Mark and I try to plan a few excursions to satisfy our wanderlust and this summer was no exception. Our historical journey found us driving down to Williamsburg last Sunday. We love any opportunity to explore history and since Mark had never been to Williamsburg it was an obvious choice! One of my favorite things about our little excursion was the opportunity to... Jason treated me to a dinner out in the city last evening. Olarosa, spanish inspired tapas restaurant. It was a wonderful time. We were able to catch up on the happenings in each of our lives and reminisce about some of our shared experiences in life. Surprising how alike we are and how different we are, all at the same time. I was sharing about... Continue reading

Early Monday morning bloodwork. Being diabetic means that I am in the lab once every three months, very early, to get my A1C checked out. Not a bad wait today and hardly an inconvenience, I just need to be more mindful of my eating habits and my daily exercise. Lularoe leggings and maxis sure make it easy to get dressed in the morning and to... Continue reading

This is what I do with my days, these days. It is pictures of my feet for the win! The truth is, my days are full and at the end of them I try to avoid sitting in front of my computer. That is why I have not written a blog post in over 5 months, and I miss it. Since April 3rd I have... Continue reading

Math Night at school and Jo Club at the shop, grateful for the fullness of life (and my calendar) and some Beaujolais left in the bottle. This night I am grateful for especially for a grade level partner that plans and executes such wonderful, supportive programs for the parents. While I am a filling participant, I cannot begin to organize such an undertaking. Also so... Continue reading

Grateful for Thanksgiving leftovers especially on the Monday after the long Thanksgiving weekend. No conferences, report cards not due yet, all means that Christmas decorating will occur and I may even get in a nap!! So very grateful on this last Monday of November! Continue reading

Grateful this Sunday after Thanksgiving for leftover pie. There is nothing like leftover pie for breakfast! This particular Sunday after Thanksgiving also has me NOT preparing for conferences or report cards. A beautiful Sunday that I can focus on holiday decorating, football, and just laying low! Small Business Saturday, 2017, a fun, busy day at the quilt shop. We planned a series of demos that never played out but that didn't stop us from having a great sale day and an awful lot of fun with everyone that stopped by.So very grateful for this community and the opportunity to play with fabric as we reorganized the shop yet again. Christmas moved... Continue reading

Just like that, it was Thanksgiving Day. Grateful this special day for family, friends and a good sense of humor. You see, our guests arrived while I was still in my jammies. Not a coordinated and sexy set of jammies, but too short fleece bottoms, a ho ho ho shirt and my wildly cute Bunkey black and white striped ladybug slipper socks. Well, it is... Continue reading

Grateful for a deliciously wonderful autumn day before Thanksgiving. A half day at school and gorgeous weather made it much easier to tackle the last of the errands that needed to be run and still arrive home before 4. It was a busy afternoon and evening at our house but the perfect weather made it that much easier to prepare for our guests! Continue reading

Grateful for the generosity of 2nd graders. Isn't this little turkey adorable? It is made with a lollipop and a candy kiss. I think it is a cute idea and it made my day! Second graders are thrilled to try, explore and always enjoy whatever they encounter. Continue reading

Grateful for us. After my divorce from my first husband it was just us 3. Playing, planning, struggling, and surviving. We have been through a lot, us three. Grateful that through it all we had each other and that we are still close. I am grateful always for Jason and Jessica. I am equally grateful for our small family unit that did so much more... Sundays and slow stitching make me happy. So very happy that Sunday is the one day I have off each week. I love a slow lazy Sunday. Not that this particular Sunday was that at all. Mark and I were busy getting ready for our guests on Thanksgiving when I came across these items already glued and ready to stitch. I am just learning to... Continue reading

Grateful for our National Park System. I have had so many wonderful adventures in our national parks. Years ago, when Jason and Jessica were little, I purchased national park passports. They lost interested not long after, but me, I'm a national park geek. One of my dreams has always been to visit all the national parks. This summer we visited a few. While in Wyoming... Grateful everyday for this young man. He has always been there for me. He is kind and generous, a great older brother to his baby sister and a wonderful boss to his employees. He is fair and principled. He makes me smile, everyday. I am so very blessed that he is my son. Continue reading

Grateful for a lifetime of memories created along the Jersey Shore. From time spent in Asbury Park and Ocean Grove with my Nannie and Grandma Rose to the years on LBI with Grams and Pop-pop. Later years brought Jason and Jessica and our time spent in Beach Haven to those years I spent with Jen, David and the girls spent at their house, formerly Grams',... Continue reading

Mark spent today building a new shelf for our bedroom. I moved the Longaberger bakers rack, that was near my side of the bed, to the shop and that left an empty spot and a lot of stuff on the floor. Mark stopped at Target to pick up a new shelf for me and then put it together so that I could get myself a... Continue reading

Grateful for the generosity of our school community and for the determination of our 2nd graders to make a difference this Thanksgiving by sponsoring a food drive for the local foodbank. After listening to Uncle Willie and the Soup Kitchen, the students felt compelled to help. Mindfulness of others is our focus this year and I am so grateful for a community that stepped up... Bright white sheets and a freshly made bed, Sunday evening I am grateful for both! Staying home all day on a Sunday is one of my favorite things. It gives me the opportunity to catch up on my "home" chores which includes laundry and a bit or organizational work. Usually it is also the day when I catch up with school work although that did... Grateful for the gift of flowers this late in the fall and a little late start on a Saturday which gave me time to walk around the yard and take a few photos. Usually Saturday is an early "demo day" but this Saturday was a little later start and I was grateful for the little bit of extra sleep! Continue reading

This tree makes me smile. I planted this tree in the yard in the fall of 2007 in the hopes that one day it would shade the corner of the house. Mission Accomplished! Not only that, the color it produces is amazing. Grateful for the beauty of fall and the stark contrast of a leaf-losing tree against a gorgeous autumn sky. Wonderful. Continue reading

No work on Friday meant that I could play on Thursday evening. So grateful for the opportunity to spend an evening playing with paper. It has been so long since I had the chance to do something creative that didn't involve quilting. So happy I decided to take a chance and register for the class. I had such fun even though I attended solo. This... Continue reading

So very grateful for the opportunity to travel, especially this past summer. We made a trip out to Wyoming to visit Mark's brother and sister-in-law at their cabin. Such a wonderful respite from our day to day responsibilities. We hiked, we visited museums, we traveled to National Parks and just celebrated the opportunity to be together in this wonderful place. It was a great trip,... Continue reading
