Sometimes I have serious creative block, AKA a severe lack of mojo. So this month I am sharing one of my tried-and-true methods of kick-starting my creativity. In this layout using the 24/7 Collection I did a random collection of shapes around the photo, further embellishing each shape once in place. I find that embellishing in smaller blocks/pieces is less intimidating when creativity wanes. Another technique I use is to block my layouts. Simply put, just use rectangles and squares to fill the space. (Can you tell I'm a math teacher?) LOL! I used Vintage Bliss on this page about... Continue reading

I've been in a scrapbooker for the last 9 years, and I have to be honest. There hasn't been a line I've been as excited about as Sn@p in a long time! The colors make me so happy, and the variety of stickers are PERFECT for Project Life. I am finishing my first year of PL, not having missed a week, and I LOVED using SNAP for the last few weeks! Here is my week of Sept. 24 through 30. This week came together quicker than any other week through the year! Here is a closeup of the left side.... Continue reading

Hi all! Kay here, with another project to share using the "Take a Hike" collection. We are avid campers, and on each trip we are lucky enough to meet the nicest people. This picture was taken our last night together, and I think summed up how we felt about our new friends. A close-up I kept the page rather simple beause 1) that's who I am, and 2) because I wanted the photo to be the center of attention. Products used from Take a Hike: Collection Kit#2500 Expression Cardstock Stickers #2503 Title Strip Elements #2514 Continue reading

Hi all! Kay here with a really simple layout. I am IN LOVE with Summer Fresh. The colors just scream fun! I thought these pictures of Jenna playing frisbee with her dad and I would be perfect with this line. I wanted the photos to stand out though. So I gave them "breathing room," leaving a little space between each. I used the 6x6 paper pad for the papers at the top of the photos. I wanted the smaller pattern so as not to compete with the photos, and because there is less waste. I love paper pads for that... Continue reading

Hi there! Kay here with a mojo-buster for you. Sometimes when my mojo takes a hike, I change something up. Like for this layout instead of my normal 12x12 layout I tried something different. An 8.5x11 layout. I also used another favorite technique, which is blocking. It helps me get past the not-so-creative moments. What do you do to keep creative? And don't forget, Scrapbook Trends is sponsoring a giveaway here on the Simple Stories blog. Comment today, and everyday from June 5th-9th for your chance to win a free copy of Scrapbook Trends' June issue featuring our fun Fabulous... Continue reading

Hi there! Kay here with a layout of my two daughters, and how happy I am when we can all be together. If you know anything about me, it's that I'm a simple scrapper. And this page took me less than 30 minutes to make. I love how all of the Simple Stories elements come together so effortlessly to make a page. I used some of the Fabulous Flashcards to surround the photo, and some papers from the 6x6 pad. I also used some of the stickers and VIOLA, layout done. Supplies Used: Sweet Fabulous Designer Cardstock Fabulous Flash Cards... Continue reading

Hey all! It's Kay, with my first post with Simple Stories. I consider myself to be a simple scrapper (otherwise known as time-impaired), but with Simple Stories I find that my layouts come together so quickly I have time to add a few handmade elements. As a mat for the photo I used one of the 6x8 mats cut out from the 4x4 quotes and 6x8 mats paper. Looks like I pieced it together by hand. Bonus! I then added a few strips of paper, a few stickers, a journaling piece, and the chipboard number. It came together so quickly,... Continue reading
