I regularly read aloud to a friend of mine whose vision is so bad she can not read on her own. She is only 26 so her book choices tend to be a little hip. Hmm, maybe a little too hip for this old lady. But, recently I have been reading her the book, Eat Pray Love by Elizabeth Gilbert. I was sent a large, busy colorful picture of many Haitians being evacuated this past week. My eyes focused on a very small child in the picture. I was amazed by her small face. I believe it truely reflects the resiliant and brave nature of Hiatians. Is she angry? terrified? confused? in shock? The determination in her eyes despite massive loss is rivoting. What is her name? Where is her family? What is her story? Where is she going? The contrast of her beautiful delicate dress against the Air Force officer's tough fatigues....is stricking. What a tough, brave little girl....
