That makes me feel good Andrea. I really do feel like so many people have it together ESPECIALLY in the mixed media world. Perfect blogs. Perfect shots of their kids. I know it's not real but still I fall for it. People don't realize that I started blogging back in the day, before teaching, just to survive. Just to let my voice out of my head where it couldn't hurt me anymore. So I appreciate that anyone reads me at all.

SHAME - : a condition of humiliating disgrace or disrepute. Never feel shamed for things you have experienced. What has happened to you, even things you have done, are not YOU. No matter what it is. In the Universe's eyes (or Gods, whatever you call it) you are as perfect as a newborn baby. What you do does not make you less than who you were when you are born. As humans we daily just do the best with what we have at the time. Sometimes it just isn't so great. But to get our needs met often we choose the wrong thing, but we, like every other human, want the same things. No shame. Ever. Just choose better the next time. : )

Any brayer will do. they even have cheap foam ones. What I did was roll over the face with white gesso (you can use white paint, gesso has a bit of chalk in it so it makes it good for drawing over it), and touched the face with it just a little. Not to obliterate the face but just make it a bit more abstract. If you are afraid to do it then just do it VERY LITTLE. Only a little dab of paint on your brayer, roll it out onto wax paper really well so its all juicy, then just touch a face with it. let dry before continuing. This is really good for water color layers, the dried white spots are very opaque and the watercolor looks cool over it.

I adore the graphic-ness of the collage clippings in the skirt mixed with the large numbers. Very urban, like part of the city is somehow embedded onto her. I think that with any sort of success comes anxiety because there is SO much more to do. And you are a true gypsy girl. We want to do what we want but to get things done there needs to be schedule and order. It is hard to put our emotions into a box for later and get the work done. We need other things to help us, like massages and yoga. Be kind to yourself sweet talented girl. The world needs your stuff.

Me included. I have to re-teach myself how to pay attention to life. I wasn't always this way. I want to go back to when I was ten years old. I was so much cooler then.

We all do it, we clean, we organize, we take lovely pictures of a lovely, clean, organized art room. Its overwhelming to start especially if you are new to making your own art with figures in them. The first step is to recognize you are procrastinating and just pick up a crayon or something. doodle. Get a pen. get a cheapie notebook. doodle. that is a start for sure. In my fairy and mermaid class it is perfect for beginners. I give you a basic template face and teach you how to shade it. I am filming a new Gypsy Portraits class but that won't be out until April. I look forward to working with you! xo

Hi Dianne, I have changed the name to Tell Your Story because I've added a lot more writing prompts. I am actually opening a new room as we speak and I will have registration open this friday. Im REALLY excited about this Ive been working very hard to really come up with a journal we can all love. I think its so important to have real writing in there as well. Come back on friday and the link will be here! Im glad you are interested!

Its absolutely a feminist wave of chicks becoming empowered through art and business. With etsy and a rebirth of the handmade we CAN work from our bedrooms and in our pajamas and some of us like it this way. I do though, need more of a routine of normal things like getting up and eating and showering. I 'll delve straight into work and paint around the clock without any vitamins or water, thats not good. I hope in this blog to work all of that out. Come up with some sort of balance that may work for us all. I'm really looking forward to connecting with girls like me.

You speak truth Tori. And tv people and all of the girls out there pretending they are pretty and perfect ALL of the time, that is not truth. But it can sure make the rest of us feel bad because we think it is. I cut my hair last year into a pixie and I felt like a teenage boy. It is not easy to switch our identities so fast, when you are used to having hair, or breasts, or your period. I suggest you go to a breast cancer survivor support group just for that extra support of women who are living your same truth. It will help you on the days where you think your breasts make you anything at all. Whatever it is that makes us NOT feel beautiful, we need to get support for that and work on our belief about that. We have to. Because happy girls are ALWAYS pretty. The world may not think so, but if we believe it, really believe it, we won't need the world at all. Light and love Tori. Gypsy Girls Forever...
