We made this great Lilypad Lake card at club last night and I couldn't wait to share the color combo with you! We have a lot of herons here in Wisconsin with all the lakes and rivers. Whooping cranes and snowy egrets, too. Wisconsin is like bird heaven. So I knew this stamp set was going to be a big hit with my local stampers. This is just the first card I've made with it--can't wait to play some more! Here's some tips if you decide to recreate this one at home. I needed my "water" to span the entire... Continue reading

I love Brusho for the intense color, but honestly, it is so easy to lose control over this unpredictable powder medium (especially if the fan is on in your craft room) and you can't always direct your spritz of water exactly right, or control the inevitable drip. I've been messing around (really messing--you ought to see my fingers!) with Brusho again this week and came up with a fun and easy background that's impossible to mess up. I promise! I used the new Dandelion Wishes stamp set for this project, because GORGEOUS, and the Tuxedo Black Memento ink pad, on... Continue reading

Had to make an extra special card for some of my rockstar Stampin' Up team members this week, and picking the adorable Sunny Days stamp set was a no-brainer. The sayings in that set are perfect for go-getters! The layout is very basic, so I used the fun new Shimmer embossing paste and the cloud stencil from Pattern Party to create a gorgeous, sparkly background on Pool Party cardstock. The paste goes on in a very thin layer, so it was dry and ready to be used in about 15 minutes. I took another stab at the angle to see... Continue reading

I'm so proud of Mike for taking on the Great Cycle Challenge this summer! His goal is to bike 500 miles in June in support of childhood cancer research. He's been working hard every day to build up his numbers and shave time off his speed. Today is Kick Cancer's Butt Day, where ALL donations will be DOUBLED by supporters of the charity up to $500K - so if you sponsor Mike today and your donation will be MATCHED! Your $5 becomes $10... $25 becomes $50... etc!! I had to smile when I saw the title because it reminded me... Continue reading

I accidentally cut my new Tropical Escape patterned paper wrong and wound up with a bunch of 6 x .5 inch strips! But they weren't wasted, because came up with a unique background mat that will be the perfect complement to your fun and whimsical line art images like the little lemonade stand from Sunny Days. Ready to play? Here's what you'll need to gather: Paper Snips Scissors [103579] Stampin' Trimmer [126889] Tear & Tape Adhesive [138995] Tropical Escape 6x6 Designer Series Paper Stack or other coordinating patterned paper collection Fun, huh? And thrifty to boot. Now let's take this... Continue reading

As many of you know, my team has adopted Honor Flight as our official service project for the last four years. Under the leadership of Kathy Van Duser, we've created and sent thousands of cards to veterans involved in the Stars & Stripes Honor Flights to Washington D.C. Every vet gets one of our cards with a handwritten message inside thanking them for their service to our country. This is a fantastic organization and I'm so thrilled that it meshes perfectly with our talents as cardmakers. We work on Honor Flight cards instead of one of the Make N Takes... Continue reading

Thanks for the enthusiastic reception to my first post of Stamparatus tricks and tips! I loved hearing how much you're enjoying your new tool, and the ingenious stamping hacks you've discovered along the way. My friend Linda P shared how she takes the dot idea one step further and writes the order the plates should be stamped in, if it matters to the project. That's so smart! When I really got into it, there were SO many tips and timesavers I wanted to share about this amazing stamp positioning tool, I decided to do an impromptu series. So watch for... Continue reading

Isn't this pretty? And it seriously was a 5-minute card, because the main background piece is already laser-cut and ready to use. I just cut the design I wanted from the 12x12-sized sheet, adhered it with Liquid Multipurpose Glue, and added my sentiment with some vellum and textural layers. I LOOOOOOVE monochromatic cards and especially blue of any shade with white. I can't wait to play some more. Did you know the sheets are white on one side and vanilla on the other? So cool! I miscounted when I was prepping for stamp club this month and wound up with a LOT of extra of this rectangle of Very Vanilla and mat of Island Indigo... so I pretended someone had made ME a card kit and I enjoyed using them all up this weekend! Normally it would have taken forever to stamp all these little pieces, but I used the Stamparatus to line up first the green, then the blues, then the pink--so instead of having to stamp 14 times on each card, I only had to stamp five times. SUCH a timesaver! Suggested Stampin'... Continue reading

I tested the stampin' waters this weekend to see if my sprained wrist was up to some action. I've been so bored without my favorite hobby!I even tried stamping with my left hand, that's how desperate I got!!! So I worked on some simple thank you cards for an hour Friday, then waited to see how it felt the next morning. It was pretty stiff, but I'll take it! It was worth it to get some ink on my fingers and a smile on my face. I can also type much better than last week's hunt and peck method! :... Continue reading

I designed a fun new layout last week and had to share! This is such an easy technique, but it really takes the card from boring to beautimous! All you need is a card base, a strip of 2.75 by 5.5 inches colored cardstock, and a piece of neutral cardstock measuring 4.5 by 2.5 inches. Stamp your vases and stems across the neutral piece, then slice apart into four unequal sections. Reassemble the scene on the colored cardstock strip, spacing the sections out, starting from the outside working in. Adhere the final section at an angle so that one corner... Continue reading
