Ever have a stamp so big you're not sure what to do with it? I love how three of my demo friends tackled the large bouquet image from Heartfelt Blooms, this year's hottest Sale-A-Bration reward choice. Meri Curtis cleverly used it as a background stamp instead of a focal point. Doesn't it make the prettiest, softest "patterned paper?" Diane Vander Galien always does amazing work, and this gorgeous oval frame card is no exception. Her solution was to fit the over-sized flower in the Stitched Shapes oval and cut a scalloped oval mat to bring out the soft colors she... Continue reading

Isn't the watercoloring on this rainbow ombre card just too amazing? I seriously think it's one of the best examples I've ever seen. I keep telling my friend Christy Velasquez she needs to enter for the Stampin' Up Artisan Design Team. This is professional-level stuff. She would so totally win a spot! I received two of thank you cards from friends recently that use the You're Priceless stamp set and they both blew me outta the water. This one, from Sarah Fleming, using Brusho on Glossy White Cardstock, is also just knock-down gorgeous. The ribbon alone is gasp-worthy, even apart... Continue reading

I received a couple of very cool birthday cards from my friends Joni and Mary last week, and I couldn't wait to share them with you! Call me crazy, but I never would have thought to use the Painted With Love specialty foil-embossed papers like this! Painted with love has some very large, watercolor-inspired patterns that make it great for scrapbooking, but might pose a challenge to cardmakers who are used to smaller prints. I adore what these ladies did with it! I really like how the die-cut interrupts the big bold pattern and reduces it to something very cool... Continue reading

I've received six or seven really lovely Sweet Soiree cards the last couple of weeks--some from a demonstrator sample swap, some from our team meeting and some for my birthday! I didn't make any of these, but I had to share them with you all. The details are just exquisite. These stampers know the secret... the specialty foil-embossed Sweet Soiree 12x12 papers look AMAZING all by themselves. So you just need a simple layout to let them shine, and a focal point for the eye to go to. These ladies nailed it! I really this next one, and how she... Continue reading

Sooo glad the ice storm warning got called off for tonight! It's Calendar Club night, so we're gathering with 20 of my dearest stampin' girlfriends to make cards. This is one of the designs this month. I am really loving that Lots of Lavender set I got for free for Sale-a-Bration. and of course I stacked the deck by using Sweet Sugarplum, which is just a stunning color all by itself. Want to recreate this card at home? Here's what you'll need to gather. Lots of Lavender is an exclusive set, only available free with a $50 order between now... Continue reading

Hey friends! These little baskets are SO easy and SO adorable, you're going to be looking for excuses to make them for every season! Shout out to my teamie Cheryl Charland for sharing the idea at our last demonstrator gathering here in Watertown. Look at how sweet they are! You can put anything in them, of course, but they really are exactly the right size for a single Cadbury Creme Egg (my favorite guilty Easter pleasure!) Ready to play? Here we go! There you go! The hardest part is not eating the creme egg : ) So what do you... Continue reading

When the changes are profound, I usually just start over instead of messing with a design! They'll be the perfect fit for someone down the road--maybe even you? ***... Continue reading

Penni and I were planning to feature this cute little coaster during our Valentine blog series last week and just never got it done. It's not a Valentine stamp set, but I had to share it with you before the holiday anyway. It was more work than I usually put into a card, but the end results are spectacularly cute! We used red, pink, vanilla and pale aqua on our projects, along with a little Red Glimmer Paper. The really amazing thing to me is, just one die cuts all this intricate structure out--just one run through the Big Shot.... Continue reading

Ever set out to make a card you had in your head, only to wind up making something totally different but even cooler? That happened to me this weekend. I was inspired by the tiny flower print in the Petal Passion Designer Series Paper pack, and envisioned the ombre card above. But in the process of coloring the ombre with my Stampin' Blends markers, I happened to flip it over and spotted a fun and funky pattern had bled through and was developing on the back! For whatever reason, the combination of bold black and white stripes with the soft,... Continue reading

It's Day Five and the final post in our blog series on last-minute Valentine ideas. Penni and I have enjoyed spending our week with you! Today's projects all feature the Party Pandas, which you can get for free with any $50 order from now through March 31st, 2018. They are SO adorable, you definitely won't be sorry you added them to your collection! Whenever I need a flat, packable and inexpensive gift, I turn to Hershey's bars. Everyone likes them and they easy to wrap and decorate. My favorite variation uses a great ribbon trick to prevent the candy bar... Continue reading

When I chose to feature Hold on to Hope as the stamp set for the February 2018 Class of the Month samples, I wanted to share some out of the box ideas as well as more traditional uses for the elegant images. This Brusho watercolored background, with a cross embedded in the embossing, fits that bill. Quick "embedded embossing" tutorial here. I also discovered that the verse can be cut apart and used partially or in full, giving you a lot more options for that one Scripture stamp. This card reminds me of the verse in little earlier in Isaiah,... Continue reading

Ahhh, my favorite holiday. And the least favorite holiday of my BFF Penni, who prefers Halloween. But both our favorites have something very important in common--CANDY! More specifically, chocolate. Wow, those colors are sure a breath of warm air when my real world looks like frozen Narnia at the moment! It's been snowing like crazy today. Welcome to February in Wisconsin... when it really gets fun : ) I started out to make a black and white card, but when I found that gorgeous Petal Passion paper too irresistible to leave untouched, I took some cell phone snaps at a couple of stages. I love all three looks, for different occasions. I didn't intend to make this card, but this is what came of my stampin' session. Sometimes you... Continue reading

I love funny Valentines, so I was delighted to see the cute little fortune cookie stamp set in the Spring 2018 Catalog (page 42). I made twenty of these last night for a demonstrator sample swap I am hosting, as well. And I still liked the card when I was finished with it, so there's a wow! It's just a great color scheme of black, white and red, with a pop of pale yellow cookie and the elegant gold mini sequin trim. TIP: And yes, I hand cut those! It wasn't hard. Here's trick for the handle piece: cut right... Continue reading
