Loved the crisp, stylized artwork on this brand new set from Stampin' Up's 2017 Holiday Mini Catalog and was so happy to have an excuse to play with it this weekend as I prepped for Christmas Club! Did it catch your eye, too? I love pairing purple and gold for Christmas, to celebrate the birthday of the King of Kings! The new Fresh Fig In Color and the Year of Cheer specialty washi tape in two different gold patterns fit the bill, with a little Gold Metallic Thread to soften the hard lines. I felt like the result was an... Continue reading

One peek at the 2017 Stampin' Up holiday catalog and I knew I was in trouble! My wish list said things like "everything on page 37"; "10 packs of foil snowflakes"; and "use hostess benefits for contents of pages 12-13." I did get a LOT of my list already (not saying I'm done yet!) but several products have floated to the top, and this card showcases some of the most useful and pretty items individual items I ordered. I just love how the layers of natural textures and glorious holiday glam came together to make this card. It is a... Continue reading

Recently re-worked an old project with some stunning new papers and thought I'd share with you all. My original tutorial for the Accordion Envelope Stationery Set is here. It's a great little gift project for anyone that can use notecards. It works along the lines of a pocket-book sized coupon holder or wallet... with the expandable accordion-style part formed with four A-2 envelopes adhered front-to-back. It uses very little adhesive other than the envelope's sticky, which is fun and economical. It can hold eight of the Stampin' Up Notecard & Envelopes inside. You can also make this with large Hallmark-style... Continue reading

I'm so happy Stampin' Up started carrying these awesome clear acetate card boxes! I am finding all kinds of uses for them, not just for card sets. This project is something I shared with my team this month for our September "Back to School" challenge. It's a little mid-semester pick-me-up for the teacher who needs it! The box just fits three tealights and two packs of bath salts. If you'd like to recreate this project, you'll want to cut patterned paper 4.5 inches wide by however long you prefer it to be. Longer will cover more of the case and... Continue reading

I'm in love with this easy "Be Merry" ornament kit from Stampin' Up! I can't believe how simple they have made it to put together these gorgeous pinwheel/lollipop style decor pieces. I am finding all kinds of uses for them, from package toppers to gift bag medallions to holiday banners and more. The glittery tulle, metallic doilies, foil-embossed cardstock and glimmer paper just sparkle like crazy--all with NO mess! PLUS everything's included except a hot glue gun. You don't even have to have stamps or ink pads to complete this kit. My kinda easy! One "Be Merry" ornament kit makes... Continue reading

I shared a quick and cute treat holder at our team meeting this month and wanted to show you all how easy it is to make with the Wooden Crate thinlets. All you need is two (assembled) crates, the Classic Label punch, and a couple of pieces of Designer Series Paper. Make the two crates as directed on the thinlet packaging, then choose patterned paper to coordinate. I used Crumb Cake cardstock for my crates and the new Foil Frenzy metallic-embossed papers for my fall-themed treat project. Cut a piece that is 7 inches by 3 and one-eighth insides. Score... When life gets a little out of control, I tend to head for simple, quiet things... old techniques, clean layouts, basic products. I can just put my brain in neutral and get some cards made even if I don't feel calm and organized in any other area of my life! I made these Paisleys & Posies cards the other day and forgot to post them. So here they are! The fun thing is, this layout can be turned in any direction and look awesome. I bet it would look great in any color, too! TIP: My best trick for getting... Continue reading

We're having a sample swap at my team meeting this month and the theme is autumn or fall holidays. I can't wait to see what everyone else makes! I got mine done this afternoon--look at me, ahead of schedule and everything!--and had to share it with you. I have made MANY monochromatic cards in my lifetime, but I have to say a GREEN one is a first for me! I used the Color Theory ombre patterned Old Olive papers for the background--no work whatsoever, and it looks like a complicated technique, love that! Then, I used Old Olive ink to... I've been busy making these sunflower thank you cards for my online club members for September. I always use the featured set so they get yet another fun idea for the stamps! It might seem like watercolored sunflowers are an odd thing to pair with the Color Theory papers, but I love how this one turned out, with the delicious juxtaposition of clean and classic, bold and traditional. Ordering for club runs from the first to the 25th of every month, so there's plenty of time to play if you want join us! No need to sign up or register!... Continue reading

I am so happy we're headed into the fall season. I just adore autumn! Bring it on! Last weekend I sat down and made something to sum up how I feel about this time of year. It didn't turn out ANYTHING like the clean and simple die-cut wood-patterned leaves I had anticipated. Instead, it turned into a pretty fancy card, for someone who typically has no patience to putz!! But I just followed where it led me and wound up with something quite adequate to express my joy in the return of fall. I also just plain love this saying... Continue reading

Can you IMAGINE the adorable baby cards you receive when your friends are all Stampin' Up demonstrators?? Overload on cuteness! Ever since I heard that Baby Bear was the #1 selling stamp set in last year's catalog, I've been itching to play with it again. Teddy Bears aren't usually my style, but I can see why the set became so popular--it's SO easy and SO fun to stamp the... Continue reading

Hey scrappers! Thanks for joining me for Day 29 of our 31-day blog series! I have enjoyed myself so much this month, and I hope you've found plenty of inspiration, too. Even if you just had to pin it for later because things are too nuts right now! Today's inspiration pages are all about the garden. Our hibiscus is just going crazy this year. Evidently whatever combination of rain and sunshine we had this summer, it really liked! I love taking pictures of the blooms in our own yard. Day 28!! Here we go! Is it possible I'll make it through this year without missing a single day? I guess we'll find out soon enough! Today's inspiration page is another birthday layout, but this time it's for a guy. This page started off with a mirror-image flip of a Scrapbooker's One-Sheet Wonder (Vol. 3, Layout #16) and kind of morphed from there. At first I wasn't sure about the color scheme, but in the end I really liked it, especially after I added the Lemon-Lime Twist ribbon banners to pull out that "hot" accent color from the Naturally Eclectic patterned...
