Hi Michelle, The roses are Abraham Darby, Winchester Cathedral and Elgantyne. All of which were purchased as bare roots from David Austen Roses. I love them too!
English Garden Roses
Our English garden roses are blooming now and, as always, they are just beautiful! Little bouquets are popping up all over the house. Even our sweet little gerbils, Holly and Ivy, took time out to smell the roses.
Hi Katie, I use Ina Gartens recipe, with the addition of dried apricots. You can find the recipe here,http://www.foodnetwork.com/recipes/ina-garten/cherry-almond-and-cinnamon-granola-recipe/index.html
Enjoy!
weekend in a nutshell ~ captured by iPhone
~ I always order a pot of hot tea ~ ~walked into town & took the long way home~ ~munched on it all weekend~ Would love to hear what you enjoyed this weekend!
Thank Monica. When we planted the tulips this year, I didnt realize they were like deer candy. When they first began to grow the deer ate about half of them before I could treat them with the deer repellent. Thankfully, we still got a few blooms. :)

Hi Tricia, You could try a muffin pan, but I would think the popovers would probably grow into one another. The popover pan has 4 deep cups and are further apart than on a muffin tin. They would probably still taste great though. Have a wonderful week!
Strawberry Popovers
Super easy, super quick and ever so delicious, you'll all want to bake up a batch of these strawberry popovers. I bought my popover pan some time ago, but today was the first time I put it to use. After just one bite of these heavenly little puffs, I knew my pan was going to be getting...
Thank you for your visit Christine. How wonderful you are able to visit Napa Valley. We very much enjoy the weather and the proximity to San Francisco when visiting. We have been to France several times and have eaten more than our share of all of the delicious baguettes there. Wishing you a lovely spring coming up.
How We Devoured the Baguettes
In addition to my husband sneaking slices of our fresh baked baguettes to snack on, here's a few ways we enjoyed them with our meals. For lunch, we often have a salad with open faced sandwiches. These were made with French ham, spring lettuces, a drizzle of homemade vinaigrette, and of c...
Hi Lin, Happy to hear you love the bunny. Thanks so much for letting me know. Have a wonderful weekend. ~ Julie
An Early Spring / Easter Project
With our unusually warm weather (it will be in the 60's tomorrow), my thoughts are turning to spring. This weekend I made a couple of these linen bunnies. I stuffed one with fiberfill and the other with lavender. At 6.5" tall, they would be charming grouped together in a display, or added ...
Hi Tricia, I also LOVE to eat bread. Too much Im afraid. I think my pants are feeling a little tight after a weekend of baguette munching. Have a wonderful week ahead. ~ Julie
Artisan Bread 101
Growing up with a father who loved bread, and a mom who was a fabulous baker, it's no wonder I share both of their passions. Learning to bake my own bread was one of the first things I set out to do in my own kitchen. Happily, I discovered I had a knack for turning out delicious sandwich a...
Thank you Monica. Ill be sure to pass along your birthday wishes to my daughter. Enjoy your week ahead. ~ Julie
Richmond's Fan District
This weekend we visited Richmond to celebrate sweet girl's birthday. She's a senior this year and living in Richmond VA's Fan District. Her home, which she shares with two friends, is conveniently located within walking distance to her classes on campus. Here's a view of her street. Th...
Thanks Andrea. Funny, when I was baking bread this weekend I was thinking of your gorgeous dough bowls. I've been checking in on Etsy to see if I could locate one. Your father-in-law would have people lining up to purchase one. Enjoy the last few weeks of winter with your precious girls. Mine will be home for spring break week after next, I cant wait!

Thanks Bethany. Thats how I felt about Rome when we visited - never enough time. We booked a gorgeous apartment in Prague, but I think with so much to do we wont be spending much time in it. Great to know its your favorite destination.
Family Vacation Destination
Our passports have been renewed, flights and accomodations booked and within a few short months we will be off to explore Copenhagen, Oslo, Bergen and Prague! My husband loves planning our vacations, down to the last detail. (One of the countless reasons we appreciate him so!) I have j...
Thanks Monica. Wishing you a lovely Valentines Day too!!
Creative Gift Wrapping
I love wrapping gifts, especially for birthdays. (Sweet girl's is this Saturday.) First thing I do is head downstairs to choose a selection of handmade papers from my flat file. I cut the above circles with a scalloped paper punch and then sewed them together to create a garland embellish...
Youre welcome Amber. Enjoy!

A Valentine Download from Me to You
This Valentine's day, my gift to those dear to me will be a list of the things I love about them. Inspired by the sonnet, "How Do I Love Thee?" by Elizabeth Barrett Browning, I designed these little numbered cards to write down some of the many reasons they mean so much to me. As my gift to a...

Loved Sense and Sensibility too! Were actually planning on watching the movie this weekend. Hope its as good as the novel was.
Elizabeth & Mr. Darcy - 200th Anniversary
Jane Austen's best known and most loved novel, Pride and Prejudice, was published 200 years ago today in 1813. It's my personal favorite as well. Afterall, what girl doesn't wish for love and happiness and their own Mr. Darcy. Thankfully, I have found both. With Valentine's Day just aroun...
Thank you for your visit today! Happy to hear you were inspired to create the votives. Check back in as Ill be sharing more decorating ideas as we head into the holidays. Enjoy your weekend. ~ Julie
Apple Votives, Fall Centerpiece
One of my favorite things about entertaining in the fall is dining by candlelight. For tomorrow evening's dinner, I made these apple votives to place down the center of the table. They are super quick to put together and you may already have all of the supplies on hand. F...
Hi Elaine - Wish I could send you some cool weather! Tomorrow it will be a high of 52 here. Leaving now for a dinner date with my hubby, (wearing my cords & favorite scarf!) so I'll send you an email this weekend!
Fall Porch Decorations, Pumpkin Topiaries
It was a perfect fall day to be outside, so we stopped by a new favorite nursery for some more mums and cinderella pumpkins to decorate our front porch for this fall. As in the past, I cut hydrangeas for the base of our urns. This year, in addition to using the cone shaped hydrangea flower...
Sounds yummy!! Wish I had some now! Were hit w/ major storm here in No. Va. All of area is without power may be do for days. Missing my air cond on these 100+ days but thankful our home is not damaged by all the trees that came down. Reminds me of when you were without power and huddled by the fire. Al Fresco Summertime Lunches
Given my choice, I would eat this everyday. I do mix it up sometimes by adding chick peas or chopped cucumber - whatever I have on hand. What's your favorite summertime dish?
Thank you so much for sharing these! They are beautiful! I'm also excited to try the pan pastels - the color palette you chose is so pretty.
Happy Spring
Hello! I hope you are enjoying your weekend. It has been a beautiful spring holiday weekend here in Victoria. Clear blue skies and cherry blossoms everywhere! Today I spent three hours on the beach with my family. We enjoyed a picnic lunch and hunted for sea glass. I im...
I used to use the "manage" feature on comments from the dashboard page to edit, delete or copy blog & email info. This feature seems to be missing from the new dashboard. If this is so, I'm not happy about that. If it's still there, how do you access it?
Rolling Out to a Dashboard Near You!
We previously announced that we were beta testing a New and Improved Dashboard, which includes new quickpost features and feature improvements. With options for quickposting text, photo, video, and links, the Dashboard update is rocking brand new ways for you to publish a variety of content to...
Thank you for the recommendation Johnny. I'll look forward to reading it.
My Dreams for a Potager Garden
I have long dreamed of planting a proper potager, or kitchen garden. One of my favorite places to visit when we travel are beautiful gardens. Whether it's the formal gardens of Paris, or country gardens in the English countryside; I am most happy roaming pea gravel paths lined with boxw...

Important Announcement To My Google Friend Connect Followers!
Many of you are probably aware that as of tomorrow Google is discontinuing "Google Friend Connect (GFC)" for non-Blogger blogs. My blog is hosted by Typepad, so this affects me. As a result, Google Friend Connect will no longer work here as of tomorrow and my posts may no longer show up in you...
Thanks Kim! I just wasn't sure because these have a black center and no yellow in them. It's so hard to find blue flowers and I love these.
Lovely Blue Flowers - What Kind are They???
Hope you all had a wonderful weekend. Ours was especially fun-filled. On Friday evening, a friend joined us for dinner and she brought us the most beautiful flowers. I loved the combination of the orange roses, white calla lillies and these amazing petite blue flowers. Does anyone know what...
Happy Valentine's Day to you too Heather! I adore your hearts and especially the lace you used with the fern-like pattern. The wedding photographs are also very precious. What a treasure!
♥♥♥
I created a few little hearts this week... I love Valentines Day. These are just velvet... lace and paper sewn together. Super easy. I was thinking maybe i should make a banner with them, just haven't gotten that far yet. :) I have been trying to gather old photos from my relatives...

Hi Teri,
I cut out the card with scalloped edge scissors and then applied chalk ink around the edges. I use Colorbox Cat Eye Chalk Ink pads. Enjoy!
