While MaryJane and I were visiting the Christmas markets, I was so completely inspired by all of the gingerbread and decided I wanted to make a big gingerbread statement piece when I returned. Every year I have so much fun... Continue reading

Hi Cheryl, For the most part, the markets run from December 1 - just before Christmas, varying on the market. I didn't buy a lot, a few small gifts and household items. The trip was completely for the experience. I traveled with my mother-in-law because it was a special opportunity to have the time and experience together. We've never had a chance to travel together until now. My husband and I do a lot of traveling and have plans to visit the markets together in the future. :) All best, Serena

I just returned from a Viking Christmas Market River Cruise on the Danube River traveling through Hungary, Austria, and Germany. I thought I'd share my recommendations on what to pack for visiting the markets in winter while on a river... Continue reading

Hi Michelle, No, it was not a sponsored trip. I would have definitely disclosed if it was. A couple of our excursions were sponsored and I disclosed that in my post about the excursions. :) It's important to me to always be transparent when writing about my experiences. Truthfully, I won't write about something unless it's something I recommend because I don't want my blog to be about things I don't like. I hope that Viking takes my recommendations as well. I didn't meet anyone on the cruise that wasn't there with the main purpose being to visit the Christmas markets. Merry Christmas to you as well. Serena

I was so glad we were with Barbara too. She is lovely and the farm stole my heart!
It was really fun! I wrote a whole recap of the cruise portion if you're interested. http://www.thefarmchicks.com/farmchicks/2017/12/my-viking-river-cruise.html Merry Christmas, Monica! Hugs, Serena
Hi Michelle, Thanks for your questions. I have covered them in my blog post today. You can find it here: http://www.thefarmchicks.com/farmchicks/2017/12/my-viking-river-cruise.html :) Serena

Colin wasn't with me :) I was with my mother-in-law, MaryJane. We both tried the treats and loved what we had. Cute and delicious!
What fun decorations to have!
We were on the Viking Egil.

I first heard about Viking River Cruises from my friend, Elaine, who highly recommended Viking, has traveled the world extensively, and been on countless ocean and river cruises. I've never been interested in an ocean cruise but a river cruise... Continue reading

The last stop on our tour of Christmas Markets in Europe was Nuremberg, Germany. Out of all the cities we visited, the markets in Nuremberg were the easiest to navigate. Basically, once we got to the start of the first... Continue reading

Something you might notice while visiting Europe are homes with their doorways marked with chalk. (You may see this in the U.S. as well, but it's not as widely common as in Europe). Each year on the Epiphany (January 6th),... Continue reading
