Hi Kim, As always, I will always do my part, as well as the Orlando Sentinel, to show our support at our local track. I certainly do hope the stands will be full and much needed money will be raised for the families in need! I look forward to spending a great weekend out at Orlando Speedworld!!! Thanks for staying up-to-date with The Fifth Turn!!
Kim, You have raised one heck of a girl - as well as a driver - and it was my pleasure to write this article about Whitney. I just wish there was more I could do. I hope someday I will have the pleasure to meet you as well as your husband and the rest of the crew. I know Whitney is well beyond her way and I hope only the best for each and everyone of you. PS - And you do have the right to be prejudice!! : )
I agree with you, Will, 100% about Whitney! Plus, I think NASCAR made a huge mistake and overlooked a great driver!!
Thanks, Chuck! It was really a great big group effort from NASCAR fans and I certainly hope more people give their opinions that didn't participate in the first set of responses. The only way for NASCAR to hear our voices is to get it out there!
Sure, great concept and ride, and I thought the exact same thing when I first read the press release... Wow! Talladega. But apparently she can hold her own, by finishing ninth in an ARCA car before. Hope she qualifies and so it does make "HER"story!!!!
I asked the same thing, but maybe it was on my Facebook page! Why start waning teams? Never have before! I do agree that the best crew chiefs are in the business, but my question was how they were willing to take such a big risk when running for a Championship? I think Hendrick and ABC has a pact. Read my latest blog! Thanks and here's hoping to a good race in CA!!!
J. Cone - I will post an update shortly. Thanks!
Ben - My question to you is why on earth are you so stuck on Bianca Jagger? Terri has A LOT of friends. There's no need for me to go out and fact check every freak'n one of them? One fact that I do know of is that If someone has written and released a memoir, the facts are checked by the publisher. And yes, after reading Terri's book and meeting her in Daytona, I am damn proud to call her my friend. It's YOUR problem if you see that I can't be "objective" about my blog. By the way, what's there to be objective about me calling her my friend? And one more thing, Terri is a legally a female, so I'd appreciate it if you get educated and read my blog and look up a few words if you need to to get a fully understanding of Terri's, then, biological issue. Terri is a human being and SHOULD NOT be labeled as he/she.
Ben- Some comments, whether good or bad, are not posting due to technical glitches. They may reappear during a recycle of the website. If it was that important, just repost it.
That's one thing people need to realize about Terri. She's already proven herself as a race car driver, and she's still been racing here and there, so there's no cob webs. It's not like she's starting from scratch at the age of 43. She has many years of experience. I think the REAL challenge here is to find her a team and the equipment that can handle her!!
And you watched Tony from stop to stop because you know he's my driver, right Chuck? LOL Thanks for being a fan of my blog!! I appreciate all your compliments and feedback! : )
Vicky, Thanks for your comments, as well as your compliments regarding Terri. You are lucky to have known her as J.T as well. I met Terri back on the 4th of July, but feel as though we have been friends forever!
The following is a comment from my best friend regarding Dangerous Curves. Being legally blind, she has a program called JAWS which actually reads text to her, however, it is unable to read the security Capchae letters and numbers required to post. She forwarded me her comments and requested that I post them for her, so here it is: I would not necessarily consider myself a racing fan, although I do have a very good friend who is basically a fanatic, but this story intrigues me. Terry has proven herself time after time, even if she did do it under a different name, and should definately be given the opportunity to get out there and "play with the big boys". Her skills are undeniable and no breast implant is going to change that. I've always heard the saying "If you can't stand the heat, stay out of the kitchen". Terry will be bringing a lot of heat and are these "big boys" possibly worried about their macho self-image if they should be beat by her? Thanks, Karen, for writing this blog and thanks, Terry, for bringing your story to light. This story might make a racing fan out of me yet. Kathy Stacy
Hey, thanks Ovalscream for your comments! Hopefully, there will be nothing "unfortunate" about this and all the good will outweigh the bad. Terri is on a mission. She has proven herself with over 150 wins and a championship. She's also a fighter and won't take no for an answer. She'll cross those hurdles when she gets there, but she WILL be back. Until next time, Ovalscream!! Have a good one!
Thanks, Andrea! We are hoping this HELPS squash those god awful rumors that had been following Terri around all those years. I will be working on a follow-up blog here shortly, so stay tuned!!! Now's the time for people to get their questions answered they might have!!
Terri O! You're awesome! I wanted to write so much more than what I did, but I figured I have to leave some stuff for the readers to find out for themselves. You are one of the most intriguing women I know and I wish you all the best of luck and hope to see you racing SOON! Hopefully, if anyone has any questions, they will post a comment and we can get a Q & A going. After all, who's it better to get it from than the lady herself!!! GFRG!!!
Terri's life was certainly one of the most unique and controversial out there back in the early days in the sport of racing Sprints, Karts, Midget and Stock. She had already proven herself as a strong athlete who has survived through some very tough challenges in her life. She is, after all, a National Champion. I know Terri will bring everything to the race track that fans are looking for!!
Thanks, Sandi. I read her book and just couldn't believe everything she has gone through!! It's an amazing book!! By writing this blog, Terri and I are hoping to get people to understand and get out of "thinking inside the box" and placing slanderous and hurtful labels on someone just because "they heard a story," but don't know the truth. Terri is hoping to get back to what she does do best .. and love... and that's to race! Just to listen to her talk about racing... she knows her stuff and will show everyone just how good of a racecar driver she STILL is. Can't wait for that to happen!!!! Buckle up everyone!!!
Thank you for the compliment! I usually don't go to the Daytona 500... you know, that other Winter one, only because everyone is trying to get there for the 2pm drop of the green flag. I usually go to the Bud Shootout, practices, etc. The Coke Zero 400 is way far better! Nothing beats a night race in Florida!! :) And now, if we can only get Kyle to shut up about what he casued....
Loved it being there, having great company to hang with and hearing the "rolling thunder" as the cars came down the frontstretch! A W E S O M E!!!!!!!!!
My point exactly. And NASCAR also wonders why the viewer numbers are declining as well. Now here's to Infineon next week. Thanks!
Wow... that is awesome, TM Scopel!! You did sum that up very well. If you have any other poems you would like to share, please email me @ kpistone@orlandosentinel.com Thanks! Karen
I bet the last place Strictly Stock car wouldn't mind being burned up, either!!
