Happy Anniversary! The photos are lovely, and I enjoy your sharing of such a historic place. It seems pretty exotic to a girl from Wisconsin. We don't have much in the way of plantations up here! And the food? Well, it's Friday night fish fry, no stuffed lobster over a creole tomato risotto with crawfish tails. I can only imagine! :)
celebrating 14 years
Today is my 14th wedding anniversary. On Saturday night we celebrated. We went to dinner at Latil's Landing out at Houmas House Plantation. I've mentioned before that I used to be a tour guide there, but that's been almost 20 years ago (seriously??). Being there brought back so many memor...
I don't remember the dirt so much as I remember running around barefoot all summer. I also have a distinct recollection of always having the top of my big toe busted up from using the tricycle; like a scooter with one foot on the back step -while barefoot- and how it never healed until fall when we went back to school.
We played in the sandbox and climbed trees though, so we must have been dirty. Oh, and we swam at a local beach created from an old quarry, so we can add sand and mucky water to the mix. By today's child safety standards, I am surprised to still be here. LOL
Looking for Bugs
When I was a little girl we spent lots of spare time on the ranch and I loved it, loved that my dad never worried about us getting dirty. There is something so free about being allowed explore, look for bugs... to get as dirty as you want as a kid.The clothes will wash (or not... that's why we...

I think the scheduled painting looks really cool. The Corks and Canvas is a really cool concept, maybe it will catch on in more places (Wisconsin anyone?). Looking forward to seeing your version later this week. Have fun!
on the agenda
Well, friends, I've decided that this is going to be a crafty week. Last week I proved to myself that I can keep the house in order if I do a little bit each day, so this week I'm adding some craft time to the mix (good idea in theory). This will involve putting my knitting down (my usual week...
I just don't know how you do it. All those bags. I am working on a tote bag right now (a first) and I never guessed how many steps there are to it. I am starting to think I am simply a lazy seamstress. All this interfacing!
I really enjoy reading your blog, you continue to amaze me with all you accomplish every week.
stitching and stitching
...and stitching some more. Yes, I've been stitching. I finally got my hands on the Alabama Stitch book and immediately started the bloomers skirt. It's been my obsession this week. I initially resisted buying this book because I thought the projects were too fussy with all that hand sewing...
I am also happy that Project Runway is back. I usually am not a fan of "reality shows" but I do love the Runway.
gratitude friday
Here we are, Friday again. Yet another week has flown before my eyes. Truly amazing. I'm not complaining about all the possibilities of another weekend before me, but I wish I knew where my week went! I suppose I should just get used to this, especially with the kids getting older and more ...
