I visited Barnsdale Gardens in Rutland at the end of June, to get some inspiration for my own little garden. I found quite a variety of pleasing plant combinations. And added lots of gorgeous other plants to my wish list!... Continue reading

After many frustrating months of waiting on solicitors and mortgage companies, we finally moved house on Monday 13 April. 31 years is a long time to be at one address, and the old house was full of the things of... Continue reading

My time in Melbourne over Christmas was peppered with several fabulous dining experiences. Two of the best were the taster menu Chris and Dougie put together for my birthday. It was so lovely to have an all-vegetarian degustation in the... Continue reading

Every year on 29th March, which is the anniversary of Dad's passing, Mum and I spend the day out, having lunch and buying a plant for the garden to remember Dad. This year we decided to go to Oakham, Rutland,... Continue reading

There's a podcast you can download from iTunes which goes through couch to 5k gradually. It's good-but it might be UK only as it's provided by our NHS. Worth looking. Good luck!

Helen & Chris's wedding in Melbourne was wonderful. My little sister sure scrubs up well! The food was fabulous (we wouldn't expect anything less with Chris at the helm), the sun shone and the whole place was full of new... Continue reading

It looks amazing. You've inspired me to have a go. I've saved all the info each time but never got round to doing it! A lovely reminder of a snapshot in time.
I've been meaning to post these pics for a couple of months. Back in December, just before my birthday, Mum let it slip that she'd knitted a Fair Isle jumper for Auntie Sam back in the seventies and I convinced... Continue reading

Here's a few pictures from the weekend. We went to the market with Auntie Sheila & Uncle Aldo. Italian markets are amazing! The food is so fresh, all shapes and sizes (they ignore the EU suggestions on straight cucumbers and... Continue reading

Picked these hyacinths from our garden yesterday and they've been flooding the whole kitchen with their amazing scent. I hate knowing that Hyacinth season is almost over, but then Lilac season is just around the corner. And then there'll be... Continue reading

Having lost several hours sleep this week with a poorly moggy (more about that later) I was determined not to let the changing of the clocks interrupt my desire for at least hours kip. Thank goodness for lazy Sundays! Continue reading

We all had fun dividing the veggie patch into squares with string. It was quite hard to get the string taut when there was a cat or three grabbing it in the middle! I covered my freshly sown cabbage and... Continue reading

To commemorate Paul & Bel's anniversary I was inspired by the quote our family friend Andy read at the wedding, which came from Louis de Bernières' Captain Corelli's Mandolin: "When you fall in love, it is a temporary madness. It... Continue reading
