Yes, we found someone that will stay in contact with us. Just lives a town away and they have a wonderful family. He will be very loved!
Searching For The Right Words and A Forever Home For Our Rescue
Back in July our family grew by one member, a bonus kind and sweet family member. After months of searching for a dog at the Humane Society, we finally found one that was a match for us. Turns out he came to us on the exact day four years after our first Labrador passed away. It was fate. One ...
Thanks Nancy, good news in we found him a wonderful home through friends of a friend. Facebook and word of mouth did it's magic. It's the best situation, even though we are sad I am content knowing he is in a good home.

Thanks Grace! Glad to hear we can do it, sometimes I wonder if my girls will just be too overwhelmed. I've been trying babysteps and making them a part of the process, so they don't look in their closets and wonder where everything went.
Our Family Is Scaling Down, When All Our Friends Are Upgrading
For now, I'm blaming my change of heart on London. I'm not quite sure how it happened or what made me change my mind. When I returned home from my vacation in London in January, I made a big announcement to my husband. I decided it was time to sell our house. Just like that, I was ready to mov...
Thanks Lori! Sometimes it's easier said then done, but feeling ready is one of my biggest obstacles. I am sure I'll post a follow up in a month or so. It's nice to take on a different perspective about having stuff and more importantly acquiring stuff. I can actually leave Target now with out an extra bag of unwanted stuff!

Honestly the 3 kids under 18 months is enough to give you a pass on any sense of humor you see fit to get you through these next few years, in my humble opinion.
It's Just Like "Mr. Mom" Except I'm a Girl...
When I became a stay at home mom several months ago, I expected that it would be a hard transition. I mean, I already knew my children. And they have never been an easy bunch. Now you may be thinking that all kids are challenging and that it's hard for all moms, and I would say that you are 1...

Bento Lunches, Recipe For Healthy & Happy Family?
Starting in August, my morning routine included the new task of packing lunch for my full time schoolgirl. To top off the packing lunches, we need to be ready to go by 7:35 to get to school on time. Now this may seem late for some of you, but over the past few years we've been an afternoon pres...
Hi Aviva, I hope my question didn't come off in the wrong way. The reason why I asked was because a private school seems like it would meet and nourish your needs completely as family, inclusive of very important holidays and a sensitivity that public education will always struggle to meet. There are so many fine lines teachers/admins walk and a Christian centered viewpoint is typically at the top of that list.
I am glad to hear you are happy with their education, we have just transitioned to a new school that seems to fit our family much more inclusively, which makes me thrilled.
I look forward to meeting you soon (hopefully!). -D
Public Schools are Secular Institutions
High school graduations in the Thompson School District are scheduled on a Sunday this school year. I must say, I was shocked when I first saw the calendar. I mean honestly, holding graduation during a time that is sure to interfere with the religious practices of many families is a risky move...
my hubby was reading this over my shoulder and you gave him a good laugh. If Bill takes your advice on the room cleaning, can you please make me a DVR of the episode, I'm all in favor.
Save me from the Corn Syrup Police
The boys are driving me batsnot insane this summer. There are no cries of "I'm BORED!" (only the boring are bored, my dear son), it's not the insistent "I'm Hungrrrrryyyyy" whines (hear that? It's my head repeatedly banging into the desk...sigh), and the sibling scuffles are easily remedied (Y...
I was jealous of Kate having a birthday cake made for her by Duff (Ace of Cakes). I'm a fan of the show, but not sure I feel about their lives being tabloid fodder!
So you're concerned about Jon & Kate's 8? Then ignore them!
I'm so sick of hearing people express concern for the Gosselin kids. "Those poooooor children," they sigh. "Their mom's such a control freak." "Their dad's an ass." "They're just being exploited." "Can you imagine how hard this is for them?" And my all time favorite: "I don't care what the par...
It's amazing how different each child is, with the same upbringing, guidance, and genetics! I hope you're doing better picking a name for number two then we did, it was very hard for us!
The Second Baby
Pregnancy is different the second time around. It's not just that the muscle memory that results in a round belly, and maternity pants, weeks earlier. It's not just that the lower back easily slips into a banana curve and brings on the accompanying aches, the body's version of I remember you...

I do see what you see, btw, I think we need to get together when you get back into town..it's been too long!
Do you see what I see
Wife. Mother. Flutist. Scrapbooker. Liberal. Churchgoer. I am more than the sum of my parts. It is so easy to fall into the trap of pigeonholing people into neat little boxes based on what is seen. I am more than than my society-given labels. When I meet people for the first time I am often as...
I never had soda growing up, we were an ice tea family and to be quite honest I never developed a taste for it. I allow my girls sweets in moderation, but only after they've given their meal a good effort (not a clean plate!).
Candy Girl
When I was growing up, my mom was all about healthy eating. Each meal had some representation from all the food groups. The only beverage allowed was milk. There were no Lucky Charms, Frosted Flakes, Doritos or Ruffles in our house. Oh, how I coveted Cap'n Crunch or a tube of Pringles. Bu...
I've let go of all the judgements I made about this "mother". We glorify Jon and Kate on TV, why not add this one to the list. And I will refrain from sharing all of my opinions about having so many children with a world full of disappearing resources!
How many kids is too many?
When the news first broke on Monday that a woman gave birth to a set of octuplets, the jokes came fast and furious. She's just one short of a baseball team, she has a full set of players for basketball including subs, give the kids instruments and she has a small orchestra! And if they're trul...
