This was absolutely beautiful. What an amazing mother you have. And what a wonderful mother your kids have too. (((HUGS)))
For my Mom.
Last year's Mother's Day holiday found my Mom mothering a grown daughter with a broken heart. I was living with her after my separation and she provided me with much needed stability, love, and support. She not only mothered me but grand-mothered my children, too, who were equally as sad and ...
I love the fabrics- they're BEAUTIFUL. GREAT choice for the men's pattern. Your creativity is so inspiring. :) I just finished up working on a baby bed that I was remodeling (just blogged about it - I'm just a *wee* bit excited about how it turned out) and now I need to get back to the grind of sewing up outfits for my girls for summer. :)
on the boards-men's dress shirt
I have been wanting to try a men's dress shirt for Pete for a while now and after a recent jaunt to a fancy-schmancy clothing shop—I have decided the time is now. Or, sort of now. When I get around to it, anyway. Some of the floral ones I saw there reminded me of Liberty fabrics. I adore men ...
I adore your work and your sense of style is amazing. :)
Search This and Nani 2995.
I added a search function to the side bar and finally added dozens of posts to the "sewing clothes" category from the more ambiguous "sewing projects" tag. You can now scroll through cringe-worthy posts of my early blouse attempts or view some poor self-portraiture. Lucky Duckies. The self ...
Congratulations on the article! I love mothering magazine. Their online forums are pretty amazing as well.

mothering magazine article
Its an amazing thing when you are recognized by another person. Especially for something like mothering in a way that grounds your children and brings focus to what is really important. I had the honor of being interviewed by Jean Van't Hul for an article she wrote for the April issue of Mot...
It looks absolutely delish!! nom nom nom. :)

Are you into it? read more at the Bake It Pretty blog!
They are absolutely beautiful. We don't use paper napkins either, but I haven't gone so far as to add edgings to ours yet (mostly because my 3yo sees anything cloth as a "towel" and frequently uses them to clean up everything from Kool-aid to spills on the carpet). Yours are absolutely beautiful. I never would have thought to use a tailor's awl! I think I might have to get one and make a set of these for Christmas gifts. :) Beautiful!
Special.
Lately, cloth napkins are the project on my sewing table. We use cloth napkins exclusively. They add a sense of importance to our meals. I enjoy the weightiness of a cloth napkin on my lap--- a reminder that sharing a meal together is a special occasion, no matter how small the meal. Mak...
I love the pics of the girls! :) Have fun on Purim!

how it goes down around here
Melissa mentioned watching 4 seasons of Mary Tyler Moore while getting some solitary sewing done a few weeks ago and I gasped. "You can watch Mary Tyler Moore?" "On hulu.com"? "No kidding!" To which Peter did a little eye roll and the kids asked "what's Marytylermoore?" Well, I showed them. T...
We've been working on organization too. Still just at the beginning of that task it seems. Oye.
I'm also having a call for people who might be interested in doing a weekly painting challenge. Thought you might be interested. If so, pop on by and lemme know. :) hugs!

This is serious (part one)
So serious, I'm not even posting a picture. It's that serious. This is about the BIG "O", people. And I'm not talking about overstock.com, either. (or that other thing.) Organization. There. I said it. (OK, I typed it.) Whatever. The time has come, and I am ready. Since we have sett...
PRETTY! :) I cant wait to start gardening this year!
seedy behavior
( a little nod to Renee for the post title) With daffodils blooming now, it time to start planting. And as we begin to see the culmination of all of our detailed garden planning come into being, I am reminded of how much I love having my hands in the dirt. There is just nothing like pressin...
its lovely!!! What a special adventure. :)
Sugar Run
Could we have picked a better or more magical day, weather-wise, to visit a local maple syrup farm? Seriously. This is definitely one of the many occasions where I wish there was a scratch-and-sniff blog application. All of the warm, sweet steam rising out of the cabin was ...
Love the photos! Congrats on the interview! Have fun on your trip! :)
Nobody Blogs In February
Not true, but I'm trying to spread the rumor for my own selfish reasons. Me and the fam are currently taking a break and visiting our homeland in good, old Virginny. We'll be back and ready for action next week, so LOOK OUT! For now, check out this interview I did for the fantastic Indie NC B...

These are so so sweet!!! :)
wooly hearts and legos
I turned the idea of those wool wreaths I made over the holidays into wooly valentine hearts. These are easy to do, if you have a felted sweater lying around anywhere near a Valentine-ish shade (and I feel I'm speaking to a group of folks who actually might), give them a try. I cut one length...
Oh how sweet! I have a new kitten and I'm a photographer. I can so appreciate these pictures. :) Thank you for sharing!
Friday's Hero
This week's Hero is brought to you by Maxwell K. The KITTENS, KITTENS, KITTENS TUMBLR BLOG Sickeningly sweet pictures of kitty cats, and nothin' but. Max is, by all means, a man's man, but there is something so hypnotic and consuming about a blog devoted specifically to kittens, none of u...
Wasn't that poem just beautiful? I love it :)
Praise Song for the Day
Praise song for the day. Each day we go about our business, walking past each other, catching each others' eyes or not, about to speak or speaking. All about us is noise. All about us is noise and bramble, thorn and din, each one of our ancestors on our tongues. Someone is stitching up a ...
It truly does go by far too quickly. My "baby" is now 3, and my oldest is 7. I don't know when that all happened, but I'm holding on to each moment to savor it as much as possible. :)
two whole months
Harper is two months old today! Despite all the energy we've put into slowing things down around here and enjoying the moments, the time is still going far too fast for my liking. Slow Down I demand of Time more times than I can count in a day. But Time doesn't listen. Harper keeps growing...
These blocks are so so sweet :) You've done a fantastic job!
8 two 8
The last few years I have not been able to get to my local quilt group meetings very much because of our busy family schedule. The evenings are very precious family time for us. However through flickr and this blog, I have met some very talented quilters who have a lot in common with me. This y...
The jello is so so so cute. :) So very creative!
jello anyone?
My pic for this week's A Doll a Week group. I have no idea if I'm playing by the rules -- it might be just Blythe & the like -- but what the heck. I'm going to play until they kick me out.
I absolutely love these :) Well done!
Almost ready...
I've had so much fun making my pages for the Vintage Valentine Fat Book - these are almost ready to be shipped off to Dede - she will be making up the books for all of us and sending them back out. I have a couple more pages to finish off and then will mail them this afternoon. I can't wait to s...
This is so sweet, and so true. When we had our miscarriage last year it was the generosity and friendship of our family readiness group who brought us meals every day, that kept my family eating.
Feed Me.
(dinner from Stephanie) Our lives have been made immeasurably easier by our friends bringing us food and company during these last few months. Scratch that. Make that this whole last year. After Amy set us up with a meal list last time around I was certainly not expecting another go-round ...
I absolutely love that library :)
I think a book would be a fabulous idea. Your little fabric houses are what drew me to your blog originally. I'd say they would have to be in it for sure. :)
Library love
This post is all about books, the crafty kind of course! The old library here in town was renovated and reopened last year, it got a new modern wing, where the children's department is situated. It is an oasis, and the best thing is that they are open on Sunday! I managed to get a shot of these ...
I know I've probably said it before but I'll say it again - I love your blog. :) Stay warm :)
Single Digits
Single digit temperatures are predicted for the rest of the week, below zero temperatures at night. D has informed us that if the wind chill is -20 degrees when the buses are scheduled to leave the garage in the morning they will cancel school. p.s. I have added a few Valentine cards to the s...
That is absolutely adorable :)
