Lovely post Jessica - brings back some wonderful memories. I appreciate your characterization of how wised-up wisecracks feel impoverished in a setting like that. (And, like you, i like the wisecracks!) It's amazing how much we can squirm when somebody asks us to talk simply about something that matters.
