Sosa? More Like “So-so” Now…
Posted By: Michael Sweeney June 27, 2009 It was a bit of no-surprise, "Well, finally!" sports news that hit last week – before getting buried by the troika of heavy-burning Gov. Sanford foreign affair / Farrah Fawcett long-anticipated R.I.P. / "King of Pop" completely unexpected death headline...
Yeah, Geo made a "mistake". It's called getting caught. He's not sorry for doing it (he shouldn't have to be), he's just sorry for having to face the consequences. This is the result of putting athletes on a pedestal and thinking of them as actual heroes. Like the great Muddy Waters once said, "There ain't oughta be no law for people who want to smoke a little dope."
Crosstown Clamoring
Posted By: Mike Rodbard June 26, 2009 Part 2 of the annual "Crosstown Classic" between the Cubs and the White Sox is upon us yet again. This now-twice-a-year-and-it's-not-really-so-special-anymore "classic" surely has the makings of the snooze-fest the last one brought us. Our guys, as you know...

Maybe this is why the Sun-Times is in Chapt. 11. That's where I got the numbers.
Opening Day- Now it Counts
Posted by: Mike Rodbard Apr. 6, 2009 Ah. The first week of April. Just like always, there's snow on the ground here in Chicago. Perfect for opening day. Luckily, the Cubs begin their 101st season of (hopefully not) futility in the warm bosom of Houston's Minute Maid Park, formerly Enron "take t...
I actually did see Billy and Fergie. Not Ron or Ernie though. Should I call you grandpa or just pops?
The Cubs – What the Hell is That on Their Backs?
Posted By: Michael Sweeney Apr. 5, 2009 (Note: Here at The Stonecipher Report, the political coverage that Tyler, Madame Fleur, I, and others provide is nicely balanced by the young crew of baseball-related writers who have recently joined the site. But, because A) Frankly, I cannot just writ...
