It wasn’t there. I couldn’t find the place in the Bible where God promised Abraham that He would give Abraham power to become rich. I was stumped. Then, while studying the idea of Biblical blessing and cursing, I came across this from the Theological Wordbook of the Old Testament Continue reading

So after 15 years of studying the issue I was convinced that the Bible teaches that God wants us to prosper. Now, I’m so convinced of it that opinions to the contrary seem really silly. Silly, except I used to think the same things. Let me show you what I discovered the Bible says about prosperity. Let me start with this scripture, because it will eventually lead us to connect with the Christian scriptures in the New Testament. Continue reading

God promises us prosperity so that we can be free to live the lives he desires us to live, completely un-dependent on the world system. I teach prosperity to liberate people from the bondage of Mammon, to free them from a life of servitude to the world system, so they can be free to serve the living God. Continue reading

Well, when I left the room I didn’t feel particularly spiritual, my only clear thought was ‘You moron, you’re going to look pretty stupid in the morning if he’s still here.’ But I just did my best to ignore that and said to myself, “They’re going to release him and send him home in the morning.” Continue reading

The only unforgivable sin is not acknowledging your sin, not owning your sin, not recognizing that you have sinned, trying to say your sin isn’t really sin. That’s what John is saying here: Continue reading

Jesus was going to be made ruler over all the earth and his disciples would become the instruments, the executors, the putters into effect of his reign. So he says to them, whatever you decree in my name I will do it. Continue reading

We have a tendency to read the Bible as though it’s always addressing us and our needs, but it’s often addressing us as the disciples of Jesus, explaining how we are to meet the needs of others, how we are to collaborate with God in causing the Kingdom of God to show up on the earth, how we are to do the works of Jesus, the works of the body of Christ. That’s the case with this passage… Continue reading

Little, but I believe important, point about Hebrews 10:37 "For yet a little while, and he that shall come will come, and will not tarry." Every translation I've have checked, (Here’s a page with 18 different translations of this verse, and I’ve checked more than these.) translates this verse as though it's talking about a “he” coming or, a couple refer to, a “coming one.” The implication being that the verse refers to the coming of Jesus. The problem is that the word “he” isn't in that verse. Here's an interlinear Bible… Continue reading

Here's a Bible tidbit. I always had a little difficulty understanding John 14:10: John 14:10 Believest thou not that I am in the Father, and the Father in me? the words that I speak unto you I speak not of myself: but the Father that dwelleth in me, he doeth the works.” It seemed to me that Jesus dropped the subject in the middle of the sentence, moving from discussing the "the words," to discussing "the works." Now I can see it's just a punctuation issue, or lack of reading ability on my part. Here's what I think he's saying: Continue reading

If you are not happy with your life, if you want life to be different for you, then pray this prayer for at least six months. Don’t pray it one week and then skip a week. Pray this prayer at least once a day, every single day for six months. Pray it over and over again. Just stick with it until something happens. If you do that, life will be different for you. The first thing that will happen is that the Bible will become a different book to you.” Continue reading

I like this one because if played out over an extended period, about two years. Too often we call it quits when the answer doesn’t show up right away and we end up missing out on what God wants us to have. Continue reading

Well In our small, very poor county in California, Imperial County, many teachers, teachers aids county department of educacation employees, other employees of state agencies have already received pink slips. These pink slips won't take effect immediately. Some won't show up as unemployed for several months.

Uhhhh… no," the most important parts of modern supply chains are embedded in the heads of innovators and… in the space… in which discussions about innovation take place…" this is not true. The most important part of Apple's "supply" chain is its patents. Without the government enforced monopoly provided by the United States patent system, the profits accruing to Apple would be multiples smaller. The question American taxpayers should be asking is why do we grant Apple a government enforced monopoly if they're shipping all their jobs to China? The reason we grant patents is because we think doing so will benefit us as a society not to benefit inventors. There is no constitutional right to a government enforced monopoly. Naturally the inventors will try and free ride on the government enforced monopoly system, i.e. they'll try to keep all the advantages of having a U.S. patent while eschewing the costs of benefiting American society, but there's no reason the system should stay as it is. I like to think about it this way, WWBCD? What Would Bain Capital Do if it were running the toll booth to government enforced monopoly protection in the United States. I'm pretty sure they'd be making sure the lions share of the profits benefited American society, not just investors.

The issue between MMT and traditional monetarists is really about how the money supply is increased. MMT says that moving electrons from one sector of the Fed's hard drive to another sector of the Fed's hard drive does not increase the money supply. I've been searching for a practical explanation of how Fed action could increase the money supply and have yet to find one. Who actually gets the new money? Does the Fed have authority to print money and then spend it? At least under MMT it's pretty clear how the money supply is increased, the government prints money, i.e. as opposed to borrowing or taxing it away from others, and then spends it. Amazingly enough the money supply increases.

The effect of QE that you mention is canceled by the loss of interest income to the economy from keeping rates low. I've read estimates that this alone has cost the economy 200 Billion dollars in GDP. I don't think the conflict between MMT and Monetarists, anyway, has to do with theory. The prescription for the current economy from both sides is to "increase the money supply." What MMT is saying and monetarists are refusing to hear is that moving trillions of dollars from one sector of the Fed's Hard drive to another sector of it's hard drive does not increase the money supply. MMT is saying that the only real way to increase the money supply is through government spending. I have yet to hear anyone explain, in a practical fashion, how the money supposedly "created" by the Fed gets out into the economy. Who gets all this new money? I've gone round and round with economists about this and no one seems able to give an explanation of how it actually works. At least under MMT the explanation of how the money supply is increased is quite clear, the government "prints" money and then spends it.

The Bible word “righteousness,” and the related words “justify,” “justification,” etc., are the most important words in Western, i.e. Roman Catholic and Protestant, Christianity, but it turns out, “righteousness” doesn’t even necessarily mean “righteousness.” Continue reading

Another nice blurb from Prof. Marvin Wilson, this time from his book, Our Father Abraham, Jewish Roots of the Christian Faith, pg. 157-156, this time dealing with the Jewish practice of offerring blessings to God, short prayers of thanks to God, for everything, rainbows, thunder, the ability to urinate. Praise God for his goodness to the children of men. Pray without ceasing, stay connected to God in everything you do. Continue reading
