Hi Michelle! While I believe the hot glue WILL stand up to outside weather, the sticks you use may not. Sometimes, if the bark on the wood is loose, peeling it away before gluing will help it stay together. If you want it for outdoor use, I would recommend building your furniture then covering it completely with a wood epoxy to ensure it does not fall apart. Hope this helps! Kristin

Hi Michelle. This post is almost four years old and I still have some of the furniture being used in the nature table at my preschool - amazingly it has withstood time AND small hands. Have you tried another glue? Perhaps Wood Glue? I only use the glue gun as I need it to dry fairly quickly at school so the kids can take the pieces home with them. It may be that the twigs you are using have thick or very dry bark and that is pulling away from the wood with the weight of the glue. I would recommend experimenting with different glues and wood to see what works best. Hope this helps!

Hi Karen! The yarn is from Needlework Unlimited in Minneapolis. Yarns are mochi plus, araucania, fiber natura. Not sure yet what I'll be making but it's always fun to dream :) xxx

Hi Melanie! I'm lucky to live near the textile center of MN and always find lots of beautiful roving there. etsy is a good place to start if you're interested.

great job josie! it looks warm and fun and inviting. way to go with that cabinet and i'm amazed by it's long journey, but it looks like it was made for that space fitting in so nicely between the brick and the other wall.

A friend of mine tried that boiling pan of hot water trick and sadly it went up and landed on her arm...burning it. Good thing she has a sense of humor about the whole thing...her words of wisdom #1 never throw a pan of boiling water that is too heavy to properly throw into the air...#2 always throw water AWAY from your body...and #3 putting soy sauce on a burn takes all the sting away. Stay warm!! We have been huddling together for three days now and are waiting to hear if we can all go back to school tomorrow. Thanks for sharing about your animals...I always wonder how they get through these kind of temps.

Happy New Year Josie!! Your kids just look so big and sweeter than ever. There is always this sense that they are so kind to each other (probably it's the snuggled up in bed photo that makes me say that). I have been trying to figure out the perfect slippers for my boys and it is no easy task!! So many I find are just SO wrong...so I'll be looking into the red ones for both...thanks for the tip. Blessings to you and your sweet family in 2014!! xxx
