Because Raj has one bisquillion United miles, we get their Departures magazine for free. This latest issue featured expensive high fashion items and came out around the time that little scandal broke about Steve Mnuchin's wife Instagramming her government flight... Continue reading

Maybe you've been able to get pregnant for free? You likely (hopefully?) even got to have fun while doing it. I hope you've thanked your lucky stars. I mean, probably not. I get it. It's one of those things that... Continue reading
A little over a year ago, a friend posted a link to Rachel Platten's video for A Better Place and wrote something about how you can't watch it and think of someone you love without crying. It turned me into... Continue reading

Me: Should we go to Target? Josephine: I've never been more proud. Well, except for earlier that morning when she was playing with her books, which usually involves pulling them all off the shelf and rearranging them around her on... Continue reading

Someday, around twelve years from now, the song Unsteady will come on the radio and I will tell Josephine how it was out when she was learning to walk and I used to sing to her "hold...hold on, hold onto... Continue reading

Our house is a three story townhouse with a walk-out basement. There's a guest room in the basement where you can't hear the baby cry. Well, unless it's her really hysterical screaming, which thankfully is very rare. Occasionally, either Raj... Continue reading

Just like that, my days of sweeping up Cheerios have begun. This snuck up on me. We've been doing purees for a while, but Jo would gag on any bit that wasn't completely smooth so it felt like it would... Continue reading

On Saturday I took part in the Women's March here in Washington DC. I've since seen posts on Facebook questioning the point of it and asserting that women here don't need a march because the writer feels she has all... Continue reading

Yes, Internet, I have a six month-old. Nobody ever tells you how quickly they grow up. I'm kidding, of course. Everyone tells you how quickly they grow up. You just don't believe it right at first. "The days are long,... Continue reading

This year I am thankful for (as ever, in no particular order, well except for the first one): A healthy baby girl. Honestly, I feel like I could quit right there this year and it would be more than enough.... Continue reading

Dear Secretary Clinton, On Tuesday, I put on a white shirt and sweater in solidarity with the suffragettes who wore white while fighting for my right to vote, as well as because it hides the spit up that generally decorates... Continue reading

These days, Josephine usually wakes up around 8 or 8:30. Or I wake her up at 8:30. It still feels really wrong to wake a sleeping baby, but it's good to have some semblance of a schedule so I do... Continue reading

Soon after Josephine was born, a friend who was about to be due with her first baby asked me how motherhood was. I responded something along the lines of how it's like falling in love with the coolest person you... Continue reading

From the early days, when Josephine was just a tiny dot on an ultrasound, the song I associated with her was Can't Take My Eyes Off You. It was possible at the time that she really was too good to... Continue reading
Yes, I'm over a month late on this year's annual video. I meant to get most of it done ahead of time, assuming Josephine would arrive before our anniversary (July 17) (yes she did) and I'd just add in the... Continue reading

I've seen a lot of lists of what to pack for the hospital and many of them were very, very long. I didn't pack nearly as much stuff as most of them suggested and still I overpacked. So I thought... Continue reading
Thanks, Julie! I hate too thinking that I let my girl be hungry because I was trying to feed her a certain way. The idea of a whole night of sleep is just to beautiful to even imagine right now. One way or another, I know I'll get there!

Thank you, Laura! You'd think knowing that my siblings and I were all formula fed would make me feel better about it, but there doesn't seem to be much logic or reason to my feelings on the topic. It's hard to believe right now that potty training will ever come, but I do realize we'll get there! Then I will be happy to hear anything you have to say on the topic.

Thanks, Libbie! I'm so glad you and Avery (and Matt) have found a balance that works for you. It's too bad they didn't have a lactation consultant for you sooner. Good for you for leaving the group when it was causing you more anxiety. I really appreciate the comment and the solidarity!
