I am thrilled to have a pretty good feel for who I am, and to still be learning exactly who I am.
Interests: Animated movies, The Muppets, old Saturday Night Live, nature commentary writing, Scrabble, baseball (Yay Tigers!), and everything edible (except maybe lima beans or apple yogurt). I have just recently discovered the tv show "Creature Comforts" from the British Studio that did Wallace and Gromit, etc. Love that show!

We have tomatoes on the way! Bloody Butcher and Soldacki (in the balcony planters) are featured in all their glory here. Both with teeny fruits, but well on their way and offering good promise. The Mountain Princess and Black Plum... Continue reading

That is, of course, not true - the gardens are never actually "finished!" I am, however, about as close-feeling as I can be to being done with prep and planting, and ready for summer to do her work now. Yesterday... Continue reading

The front garden beds are "finished!" Except that I need 2 or 3 more bags of mulch, and I want to replace the edging with pavers this year, and I need to add a couple of plants to replace seeding... Continue reading

The front garden beds at Prune Ridge are cleared out finally and ready for new planting! My goal for this morning was to finish clearing (lots of grass, "bleeding" over from the lawn due to my neglect the last 2... Continue reading

I've decided that it's time to start talking about this adventure of mine: Since December, I have been working hard on losing weight and getting to a healthier weight and a happier me. I can report now that it's working... Continue reading

I started putting things in the new garden (Fencetta!) this morning and some of the other beds too. I'm nervous because we are still cooling off a lot at night. The 10-day forecast predicts no frosts, so I'm going with... Continue reading

Most things at Prune Ridge are now fully ready for planting. Weather permitting tomorrow, I will be out there planting a few things in the garden bed (carrots, beets, lettuces, cucumbers), one pot (radishes), and some flower seeds in a... Continue reading

Through almost 7 years in my role at The Ark, I have asked to have a picture taken with performers exactly twice. The second was this past Thursday evening with Arlo Guthrie! How could I pass up the opportunity? I... Continue reading

I won the battle with the bazillion daylilies this morning. Next comes some seeding, after I wait a week or so. Decided I will let the bed sit now that I think I'm done there. Give things that might be... Continue reading

The side of our condo end-unit has a simple 4"x4" framed garden bed running almost the length of it (except for meters at the back corner of the building). Daylilies were planted there, most likely decades ago. They've been overgrown,... Continue reading

The new garden bed with fencing is taking shape in the backyard at Prune Ridge! I finished cutting all the wood this past Thursday afternoon, and started in this morning around 10:00 to get her assembled. 2 drills - one... Continue reading

I have plenty (understatement) of seeds coming along now. Below you'll see 12 of the original 18 planted, just transplanted into bigger pots today (6 tomatoes and 6 bell peppers). Also 18 of 21 things started at the "regular" time... Continue reading

I need to either learn to trust the seeding process for indoor starts, or plan to give away lots of plants every year. 27 seedlings coming along now, with potentially 18 more still working on starting. Yep. Twenty-seven. Continue reading

Today is April 2nd, and I last blogged on October 27th. What's up with that? I don't know, exactly. But here I am, and I'm ready for some things. You know, the usual - primarily spring, green, and growing. I'm... Continue reading

Phew. Almost two weeks ago, I put my plot in the community garden near our condo to rest for the winter - and for the foreseeable future. It's sad to me that I can spend 50+ hours of preparation and... Continue reading

You are correct. That - tomaybe - is not a word. But I'm not convinced yet that these are tomatoes. They did, however, come out of my extremely disappointing and completely given-up-on garden. It remains to be seen if any... Continue reading
