An angry and only occasionally observant man wrote NBC an angry letter thinking the media company had altered its peacock logo to include rainbow colors: Your changing your station logo with the colors of gays is a disgrace. Just stay out of it… Your integrity is ruined… ABC KATV is my choice in the future for all Little Rock station viewing… Shame on you! By the way, the NBC peacock logo has looked like this since 1986. I was scrolling through Facebook when this post from Bobbi Brown cosmetics stopped me in my tracks. How gorgeous is that? It's a work of art. (Anyone else thinking of Chuck Close?) I'd bet anything the designer simply cropped an existing photo. Sure, it sounds easy but only a great designer would think of it. Here's the rest of the post from Bobbi Brown. Continue reading

“I owe Marilyn Monroe a real debt ... she personally called the owner of the Mocambo, and told him she wanted me booked immediately, and if he would do it, she would take a front table every night. She told him—and it was true, due to Marilyn's superstar status—that the press would go wild. The owner said yes, and Marilyn was there, front table, every night. The press went overboard. After that, I never had to play a small jazz club again." -Ella Fitzgerald The best celebrity endorsement ever. Continue reading

I love goats (especially baby Nigerian pygmy goats) but this billboard is just silly. Silly in the bad way. It's pretty much the Jerry Lewis of outdoor advertising. This billboard is advertising Boston's storied Lenox Hotel. Think crown moldings, marble and lots of fireplaces. And it's located in the Back Bay, an upscale Boston neighborhood. The creative team should go baaaaaack to the drawing board. Image via my good friend and fellow copywriter David S. Continue reading

This is kind of an American toad-in-the-hole. Amazing. Only I would serve it with baked beans instead of mushroom gravy and barbecue sauce. (BTW, here's the toad-in-the-hole recipe I use.
