I'm just impressed at the kid's ability to correctly use an apostrophe. And I hope you all get some good sleep soon.
Did you mean "retaliation"? I don't know, iTunes — did I?
Oh, my Hell, if school doesn't start soon I am going to run amok. Although it's been a full summer — five different camps that I can think of right offhand — in the last week and a half until the kids go back, Charlie's been home all day. Oh, he's good-natured and not outrageously high maintenan...

There Is No Heaven Like a Good Marriage...
...and no hell like a bad one. Once upon a time, my occupation was "family law attorney." That means I have seen many, many bad marriages. I must say that it made me appreciate my own wonderful husband more, but... Continue reading

When I was a mere slip of a girl, I had some ideas about the man with whom I was going to spend my life. Nothing too specific, more of a vision of how things were going to pan out.... Continue reading

I am going to share with you my secret shame. It is secret because it will reveal that I am an even bigger dork than you already suspected. I know that hardly seems possible, but bear with me: I would... Continue reading

Dream interpretations, please
Do you remember your dreams? I used to remember mine all the time. Now, maybe I remember a flash here and there. Occasionally, I'll have a few nights in a row where I have very vivid dreams. I might be... Continue reading

One of those days
Have you ever had one of those days where you feel the need to make up your own swear words, because the ones you already know are simply insufficient to express the depth of your frustration? I am having one... Continue reading

The New Normal (Day 3)
Incidentally, have you ever noticed how when somebody refers to "the new normal," it's never better than the old normal? Thanks so much to everybody who commented, here and on Facebook, with messages of support for my husband and me... Continue reading

There is little that enrages me more than my kids seeming to be ungrateful. I mean, I could get a nine year old not knowing to be grateful for a roof over her head, because she's never known anything else. But when I use the last ten bucks in my wallet to buy her a lanyard kit instead of, oh, say, a bottle of wine for me, and then she pouts because there's no neon green lanyard, I tend to get a little insane. More than usual.
Comes with the territory
Ohhh, I just had a day. Two incidents of note: We'd been out in the car, and Ben's window was down because I make him open it while he smokes. When we got home I pulled into the garage; before I stopped the car, he asked me to roll up his window. That's how things are done when you're Ben: Wha...

Thanks for the affirmation. I will definitely get a Kitchen Aid at some point. This month is not going to be that time, unfortunately. Ive started hoarding the Kohls gift card people have been giving me for birthdays and Christmas toward that end.

What I Want
Most of the time, the acquisition of stuff doesn't appeal to me, because I'm blessed with everything I need and almost everything I want. Still, there is one material thing that I would love to have, that I have coveted for years, and that I have resisted buying: a KitchenAid Mixer. I love to co...
Some Reflections on Pascha
