I can so relate to this. Making friends is so hard. Having kids makes it a little easier—always something to make conversation about with other mamas!—but it's usually takes work and effort no matter what. I struggle with this a lot. It is awesome that you are reaching out and making an effort. It takes courage! Thank you for sharing.

Fun stuff! Yay parks! Maybe it's just me but something seems different in your posts the last week or so. Can't put my finger on it but I like it. I'm always grateful you work so hard in this space; I love reading your posts each morning. xo

Love this. So bright and fun! I think I'll be making something similar with or without the giveaway. :)

This is such a fun group of updates! So happy for you. Our boys share a room and it's already fun for them. I'm excited for the future as Teddy gets bigger—I'm sure the shenanigans will be endless, and I think they will be so happy to have each other so close.

Sugar Shack in Old Town Alexandria va is the greatest I've ever had...it's a blessing and a curse to have it down the road from me!
Looks so fun! Loved your photos all week. We are headed to Florida in a few weeks to visit my parents and I can't wait for the sun and the sand (and the extra sets of grandparents hands ;)

Wow, what a shitty way to spend a Monday morning! I'm so sorry. Your blog has been a favorite of mine for a long, long time now and I appreciate what you do in this space. I love the colors you chose for this quilt. I think you took a lot of heat for your dear ellerie posts as well, and I always meant to comment on them and say that they meant a lot to me. I was only a few months out of the newborn chaos myself and I related so much to your struggles. I guess I should have said it then but better late than never I guess. I hope your day gets better—go get a donut! :)

i love this idea. i've used the Day One app on my phone before to jot down quick notes about what joey is doing now, although i've fallen away from that lately. i like the idea of having a pretty book by your bed. i ditched project life for 2014 and just ordered a big photobook from blurb to cover the whole year. i can't wait to see it! it's a much easier (and cheaper!) method of documentation that fits my life a lot better right now. weirdly, i don't even miss scrapbooking at all.

These are so great! You're so lucky to have such great photographers to call on. I'm having trouble finding someone like that. We did family photos for the first time this year and the pictures were nice, but they weren't *special*. These are special.

lauren!!! omg. packing for 2 days with joey gives me anxiety, this post is practically making me hyperventilate. you are a superhero. :) good luck on tour and have fun!!! my aunt and uncle live in harrisonburg but the concert was sold out when they tried to get tickets! they're on the wait list, but I don't know if they'll be there. i told them to say hi to you if they make it.

Try growing some zinnias in your garden! I've found them easy to grow, they make great cut flowers, and pollinators love them.

YES. THE GRAVEL. What is up with that!!! The fascination just started for Joey last week. So funny to see he's not unique in that.
I really enjoyed this episode! It's easy to find people talking about what inspires them or other parts of the creative process, but the nity gritty business stuff is not usually discussed as openly (that I've seen, at least). It was really interesting to hear what Katharine had to say.

ok also (i have a lot to say about this apparently?!) i saw in one of your older tova posts that you were looking for more indie pattern designers to check out. i don't know if you still are, but i recommend checking out Megan Nielsen and Grainline Studio—both rad designers who make really great wearable patterns.

this is so cute! i've only ever sewed one tova as a practice...i've been wanting to go back and make one for real. i love the fabric you chose. i saw your comment about the seams on the inside and just a tip: you can zig-zag on the edges of the seam allowances to tidy them up and prevent fraying if you don't have a serger. it's not quite as neat as a serger, but it works well enough and looks much better than nothing. that's what i do! and old episodes of parks and rec is never not a good idea.

ok this book is gorgeous, of course, and i love it. but what actually caught my eye in this post is the umbrella prints fabric the books are sitting on, haha! i'm so envious that you have yardage! i adore those heart prints but all i can afford are a few trimmings packs. which of course i'm hoarding and can't figure out what to do with them. do you have plans for the fabric?

yesterday you wrote basically, make project life work for you and if it doesn't, quit, and today, about not wishing you loved mornings but celebrating what you do love. i'm not sure if it's something you're intentionally focusing on, but i love the extra reminders to "do you," and not try to be someone else. that can be hard to remember on the internet sometimes.

Thats exactly what Im planning...just did one for Joeys first year and decided if I did one that focused on the whole fam each year it would satisfy my do something with these photos urge. Plus theyre easier to store than 12x12 albums!

This is so good. I stopped loving project life around October, so I've decided to quit. I just finished up slogging through 2013 last night, and I'm not doing it for 2014. BUT this kind of makes me want to start up again, which is saying something. Only kind of, though. I think being able to print your photos at home must make a huge difference. Anyway, I'm looking forward to seeing your album throughout the year and enjoying project life vicariously. :)

this is absolutely beautiful! i've used pinhole press in the past and been so pleased with them. i just finished a photobook of joey's first year and went with blurb (for the first time) because it was a huge number of photos—haven't gotten it back yet so i'm very eager to compare the quality between the two! ps these photos are so gorgeous; you are lucky to have them!

excited to see what you're up to next! love the photo book of mornings idea.
