Barely slept last night (stupid sleep apnea!) so I saw this in a state of relative stupefaction. Giggled like a demented prepubescent girl. At work.
Awesomeness.
Still a bit confounded by the little flame wars it caused in the Fark comments section. I suppose it was going to happen eventually, as it has with many other internet communities; but exactly when did all those eternal noobs with expensive computers take over? They're like gnats of negativity! I'm convinced these are the same d!cks that tortured geeks through their 30s and now that the truly cool kids are letting them in to the party they're back to their true form. Their auras are shaped like Florida. That's all I'm saying.
In which I am a HPOA
I'm working very long hours on Eureka, so I don't have a lot of time or energy to post more than silly things on Twitter, but I did this over the weekend, and I wanted to share: The w00tstock organization wishes to post the following photo correspondence from “Wil”—which is most certainly not a ...
Yes, exactly! DRATW. Perfectly expressed.
"as his kilt rises..."
I think this is one of those rare things that can be equally enjoyed* by those who have context, and those who don't. *for very disturbing values of 'enjoyed'
Oh, the awesomeness! THE AWESOMENESS!!!
Can this be the cover for the next DVD? Because that is a keeper in so many ways...

Oh Wil, have I ever said no to you? The answer is always going to be yes. (Did *not* mean to make that sound dirty, I swear.) Print or digital works fine by me. Pick a format. Do it! Do it! Do it!!!
anyone interested in a short fiction collection?
I have a question for everyone who reads my blog: if I put some short stories I'd written together into a little collection and sold it at Lulu, would you be interested? I ask this because I collected a few short stories into a limited edition chapbook for last year's PAX Prime, and it's been si...
Giddy. We watched all 3 seasons tonight and then the teaser. Giddy!
The Guild: Season 4
Here's the teaser trailer for season four of The Guild:
Dude, you can't let the ignorami get on your nerves! No amount of rage at their stupidity will make them less moronic.
unintended consequences
Last night, I saw a column at Newsarama that infuriated me. It's been taken offline, so I can't quote it, but the basic premise was that Wesley Crusher was playing Ted Kord, so Ted Kord was a Redshirt, because Wesley was a Redshirt, so now you know how lame that episode is going to be ha ha ha. ...
You know, repackaging old gifts retains its magic s long as you share the experience with people you love. That makes all the difference! Happy & Merry.
happy winter festival of your choice
We celebrate a non-religious, minimally-commercial version of Xmas here in Wheatonland, and the 2008 installment is awesome. Whatever you choose to celebrate this time of year, I hope it's filled with all the stuff you like, none of the stuff you don't like, and that you're surrounded by peopl...

It was a string of similar experiences that drove me out of movie theaters. Thank [your deity here] for netflix... Unfortunately, although some movies are truly meant for the big screen, I can live with a smaller showing; but there is no substitute for live music.
bring on the night . . . and the assholes
Anne and I took Ryan to see Elvis Costello and The Police at the Hollywood Bowl last night. We bought our tickets months ago, and got the best seats we could afford. We took the shuttle from the Zoo to the Bowl, and were in our seats about ten minutes before Elvis and The Impostors took to the s...

Wil, is that a shameless plea for pie?
See me at the Los Angeles Times Festival of Books
As I mentioned in the Great Geek Tour of 2008 post, I'll be appearing at the Los Angeles Times Festival of Books on Sunday, April 27. The festival is at UCLA (go Bruins!) and runs all weekend. If you'd like to meet me, shower me with praise and tell me how charming and suave I am, here are some ...

I discovered Miyazaki's work in the past year. I fell completely in love with "Howls Moving Castle". We caught "Spirited Away" this past weekend and I still have those images fresh in my mind. Each of his movies is a small masterpiece that always leaves me in a state of awe.
picture start (or, wil rambles on and on about movies he's recently seen)
My writing muscles have atrophied over the last three weeks, and they need to be warmed up so I can get back to work. Please enjoy this rambling braindump about movies which I hope will start knocking some of the cobwebs off: I watched a ton of movies in the last three weeks, including a ton of ...

Hell, we'll miss you, but we'll all try to fucos on something else.
is there anyone home?
. . . yep. But my doctor says that talking on the phone, sending e-mails, posting in my blog, and spending too any time doing much more than watching TV (I'm still too drugged up to fucos -- I'm not changing the spelling on that because it's so goddamn funny -- on reading this big stack of graph...

Is anyone interested in WWdN merchandise?
Before I put in the time and effort to make some new WWdN merchandise for the WWdN CafePress store, I'm looking for a show of hands: is anyone interested in some WWdN gear, like T-shirts and stuff? I don't have the time or desire to run a store myself, or take the risk of buying a lot of stock a...

That is a great photo.
Re: the impatience of youth. Wisdom and experience allows you to look back and concentrate on not on details, but a whole experience. I am glad your memories are fond ones.
Going Boldly . . .
I just added some pictures to my flickr stream from Star Trek the Tour. My battery died real fast (stupid me for not bringing an extra) so there aren't many. However, I'm really happy with the ones I got. This is my favorite, which was taken by my awesome wife: "When I was a teenager, I got t...

There's no accountability in a world where anonimity has become an ethical shield... People don't think about the consequences of their behavior if they are a fictional persona sort of thing.
On another note, am I the only one who watched Retarded Cop and thought, "Wow, Wil makes a hot suspect?" (Besides Anne, I mean!)
the best thing i have ever read on the internets
Jonathan Coulton: Really? This is a good use of your time, to make someone you’ve never met feel bad just because they made an amateur fan video about something they really like? Where’s your thing that you made and put online for everyone to see, you chicken-shit cockhole? He writes this in res...

Merry Xmas to all. Now, all I ask of Santa is a photo of this gingerbread crackhouse. I think I have the cookie cutters that go with said house -- one dude's missing a leg, another's missing an arm and the third lost his head...
did i say overlords? i meant protectors!
And just like that, it's Christmas Eve. Gifts are wrapped, meals are prepared, the gingerbread house is waiting for our unique brand of mayhem ("Hey, let's make it a crackhouse this year!" Anne said, because we just can't do much of anything in a "traditional" way, which is just fine with me.) ...
