Jamie, I enjoy seeing your updates on FB. I fully admit I am not great about posting or commenting on FB. I do lurk on FB and have not been keeping up with reading all my favorite blogs lately. I enjoy hearing from you and promise to check in with your blog more often!
As far as your 5yo - good for you! I cheer you on! I was so eager to homeschool in the early days I realize now we did way too much out of the book. My 6yo is only on her second Bob Book, but I am not worried! Go outside! Enjoy! Teach The Swing poem while swinging and My Shadow when you are actually outside during the Golden Hours when shadows are long! Recite Bed in Summer as you draw the shade on the daylight and the bird song!
My 6yo and I spent a happy hour in the dirt planting pansies for P week and I loved hearing her marvel about the worms she found, coming up with her own questions like, "Which end is the front end?"
19 Observations from the Homeschooling Trenches
As this school year is drawing to a close I am taking some time to recognize and appreciate what we accomplished. In a few weeks we will be making some year-end assessments. We will choose works to keep in portfolios, and make some display boards for a home school showcase. If I am really on top...
I am not having a problem with spam comments, but my readers are still saying their comments disappear, so I check spam comments regularly, but there's nothing there. Where are their comments going?
Combating Comment Spam: An Update
Today, we want to address the recent spam attack that caused many of our bloggers to experience a sudden and very unfortunate influx of comment spam. We were just as frustrated as you were by the situation, and fixing it was our top priority. Last week, we worked closely with Impermium to fix th...
Still? Typepad has tightened up spam filters so we don't have to require a verification code. I rescued some comments from spam, but haven't seen any of yours there. So, what happens? Do they just disappear or is there a message telling you what's going on? Does it depend on if you are signed in with blogger? I don't get it!

Thank you, Suzie! I don't feel so alone, knowing my challenges resonate with other moms I respect and admire!

Oh, Cheri, I don't mean you! I hear from you every now and then! I'd love to get together - shoot me an email with some possible dates!

Thank YOU, Sarah! Sometimes I get nervous about posting what is honest and from the heart, but revealing of my challenges and failings.
Linking arms as a fellow Catholic homeschooling/blogging mom,

Yes! And of course prayer time in my room, alone is part of my routine before I descend the stairs. That, and I'm trying to work in some arm weights too ; )
A Day in the Life - Mornings
Time is the great equalizer, that's what my mom always said. People might have different resources when it comes to money, health, family, friendships, but we all have the same amount of time. This must be why it's so fascinating to learn how other people use their time, particularly how their d...
I agree - playtime outside is a high priority and I am so thankful that homeschooling allows for hours outdoors, aren't you?

I think they have two children, grown, and one still at home. But thank you for offering!
and the flag was still there
One night last week, around midnight, I was convinced a man-hunt was taking place in our neighborhood. Drifting in and out of sleep, I heard sirens, gunshots, and the hum of something - a helicopter? Just as I was about to nudge Joe and request that he investigate, the phone rang. It was ou...

I just propped both elbows on the table!
Joe insisted on a Sony, mainly for the image stabilization. I wanted Canon, but I have to say I am loving the IS of Sony!
