I've got some big changes coming soon to Mignon, which I can't wait to share with you. In the meantime, I've marked down a bunch of items – visit the sale section to see what's on clearance. (Up to 60%... Continue reading

thanks so much, Vanessa. Typically I start with one isolated detail -– like a shampoo bottle, or the act of going to a party. Then I explore potential conflicts -- someone attempting to steal a shampoo bottle, or realizing it's making their hair turn purple; someone who's late to a party, or who's nervous about running into someone there. A story always needs conflict to be interesting. As for coming up with the initial object/action/etc., if you're having trouble thinking of ideas, I'd recommend making a list of as many random objects, places, etc. you can think of, and then referring to that list when you're ready to sit down and write a story. Hope that helps! x

A few literary links I thought you guys might like... The satirical short story "Breadman" by J. Robert Lennon. I enjoyed it so much that I read it twice. A fascinating infographic showing how old writers were when they published... Continue reading

Hi Andrea – apologies for the delay in replying to your comment! The length shown is 18", which is a pretty average length. However, it may fit differently on you depending on your neck size. If you're unsure, I'd recommend measuring out a piece of string to test lengths. (Also – the length doesn't include the fringe, if that makes sense.)

Hi Alaina! It's a fiddle leaf fig, but it's a variety with smaller than usual leaves. I needed to find a plant that didn't have any low leaves (because of our cat) so this was one of the few available options!

A new necklace in my shop, called l'amour. The strands of gold chain are hand-cut and arranged organically – so each necklace is to some extent one-of-a-kind. Find it here! Continue reading

thanks, Jenny – heh, maybe one day. There are so many amazing home tours out there that make me feel like my own home is very underwhelming. But it's fun to share a peek here and there! So glad the Seattle guide has been helpful! I hope you have a great visit :)

ah! I just gave a pop-up version of Alice in Wonderland to a friend's daughter – I wonder if it was designed by the same people. I am debating buying a copy for myself, too ;)

We recently did a bit of furniture rearrangement, part of which consisted of reuniting two bookcases and creating a 'book nook' in the corner of the living room. It doesn't feel quite like a reading nook, since the closest chair... Continue reading
