Such an amazing photo! I can feel the magic coming from it!
Postcard no. 9
She stood quietly like that while I finished the barn chores. Then I joined her. Magic is everywhere.
These postcards have been so great.... you are living our dream, right now. What a great experience for you and your family! Dairy stuffs made from milk that just came from a cow you milked, what a treat! That is my idea of the good life!
Postcard no. 8
And so, what does one do exactly with gallons full of beautiful, yummy, creamy raw milk each day? Well, after sharing with the calf, and sharing with friends....there has been lots of drinking milk, and a dollop of cream added to just about everything (really). And then...there is bu...
I am inspired by the season, really :) My favorite season food-wise. Squash, root veg, kale, apples, cranberries... so many goodies. The days are getting colder so we are baking bread again, making soups, roasts. I love getting back to using my oven :)
One appliance I love beyond words is my crock pot. So comforting to throw things in there and leave for the day and not have to worry about what to make for dinner... its usually done!
food bits
I think about food a lot anyway (how can I not, when most of my waking hours are spent in the planning/making/eating/cleaning of it?). But in the events of recent weeks and months, I've found myself thinking about it even more, if that's possible - the comfort of food; the blessing of wh...

I am not in Maine, but I was saddened by the appeal as well. Sending you healing to Soulepapa, and strength and love to you and the kids. When my husband is deployed, one day at a time is all I can handle as well. Focus on you and your family... we will be here to draw strength from when you need it.
From NY with love,
emily

how to make applesauce
Did I mention all the apples? Two bushels, to be precise. A lot of apples. I haven't had the circumstances to do a big pie-filling freeze like last year. Instead, most of the preserving I've been doing is in the form of applesauce. Because it's easy, no details need be precise, and most especi...
I hope that Steve gets better, and sending you strength to take care of everyone! Your family will be in my thoughts.

{A little backyard quidditch!} Good morning! Just a quick note to let you know that I'll be taking a few days off. SoulePapa (also known as Steve) has been struggling for some time now with an injury that has finally landed him at home, off his feet and resting. We're a little uncertain as to ...
He is just too cute! Makes me want to have another (that would make 5!!). The book looks fabulous as well.

Happy Birthday, Adelaide! Hope your day was great and your evening fabulous!
f o u r
Wasn't it just yesterday that I was here to tell you of her arrival? I remember the details of her birth day with every bone in my body - like most Mama's do of their baby's births, I'm sure. The very moment I met her was so full of a sense of absolute knowing of her, at the same time as bei...
What a perfect way to spend your birthday! As a February babe (and living in the North), I am always envious at people that get to spend their birthdays with the warm weather :) Have a great day!

Creative Space : Studio 2.0
I thought we'd take a little tour inside my work space today, if you'd like. It's taken me a while to take many pictures of it - truth be told, because it's taken me a while to really like it. But I do. I really like it. Even (or, especially) when Adelaide calls it my "funny little porch room...
Lovely... love all the color, and so organized! I must ask, what is that calendar I spied?

Lovely giveaway!
Oy, balance. It's a huge part of my belief structure... balance in all things. Being a unschooling mother of four and an army wife, its definitely a struggle... I have learned to say no more, and to feel good about saying it. I make time for "me" at the end of the day when the kids are asleep. I also try to create a 'rhythm' with how our weeks flow. Its not perfect, but we are always working to achieve greater balance!

I don't doubt your dedication! Its been a gloomy (not as yours however) month in NY too... and I find myself wanting to bring more yellow around the house. Looking forward to see the other treasure you brought home!
Ooo! I spot The Backwards Loop as a new sponsor, I adore that shop!
reporting live, from the bathroom sink
Well, apparently you all have me figured out. Of course that little yellow desk from the flea market came home with me! I couldn't resist. (Not that the rest wasn't tempting too...the teacups would have come home too, except that I already have that whole set. There was one more thing, though...
Hmm, I'd guess the yellow table, some fabric, and some buttons. Lovely photos!

Love this, its been a cool, rainy June here as well (northern NY) and we, too, soak it all up when it comes out!
Is that a berry bowl I spy? I've been eyeing them but it looks smaller than I thought.
Thanks for the glimpse of your sun soak.
24 hours of sunshine
I've lived in this New England climate for my entire life - long enough to know to take full advantage when the sun does shine. I think that's one reason I love the summer so much - it is so fully lived and soaked in and appreciated - by everyone I see. And so - in the middle of the wettest, ra...
