Greetings!
After many technical hiccups, I finally have my domain mapping and blog format figured out! Sorry to all of you that went to angelfunk.com and found that the website was not ready for viewing. I am still working on the layout of the blog, and am listing items in my... Continue reading

Thank you so much Amanda, I find myself feeling that tightening in my stomach as the holidays and so many other things move into the horizon. I needed to hear this today! Much love to you and your family.
exhale
Turning the calendar to November last week, I took a deep breath, knowing full well what I'd see. It was, well...as I expected. A month in which I cannot fly - as I usually do - sans calendar. We've entered the busy days of the year - days full of rehearsals, holiday making, holiday parties,...
Oh, poor thing! I will keep her, and you, in my thoughts. Get better soon E!
poor little one
she's been sick on and off for four weeks. there is so much going around school, it's hard to tell what's what. but we are certain it's Lyme's now. the treatment is a bit daunting...so many antibiotics for so long, but i'm grateful for the option and her health to start to improve. poor little...
The one at the end, with them all together!
sewing with ezra...The Day Before
I'm slowly - but surely - learning to save The Day Before a birthday as 'sibling-making' time. Because as much as I gently try to get them thinking and making earlier, time is just so different when you're very little. It isn't until the day is nearly upon us that the reality of it exists. And...
What a lovely picture!

We love Gillian here too! My husband's done some work with her over the years and she is as lovely a person as her music is wonderful. Love the bathrobe, too!
:: right now ::
right now, I am ... :: wanting just a little more sleep after the ten-year old dance party that happened here yesterday for Calvin's birthday. With records spinning by DJ Ezra, It made this Mama's heart proud that Cyndi Lauper was in the mix with Justin Bieber. :: loving the cheery dots I ...
I am jealous of your beach! Nashville is just not that interesting topographically I'm afraid. But we are within a day's drive of many, many fabulous natural sights so I can't complain too much. The puppy is just too sweet!
The Winter Beach
The beach is equally as fun during the winter as the summer (although swimming is a wee bit chillier). We visit the beach pretty often in the winter. It's a nice place to let the dogs run free. This was Pepper's first visit to the cold, cold beach. Fly's getting too old to chase the wa...
I finally have the book in my hands! And I remember why I was intimidated. The library only had Knitting without Tears, should I have started with another book? Maybe I should just go into it knowing I might have to rip it out a few times and make the next size up so it will fit Silas next year just in case.
for the baby
This, my friends, is the sight of a desperate knitter. Trying to work just with my existing stash to make a complete sweater, sans known pattern or skein yardage, and with a whole lot of crossed fingers. It's the sight of a desperate knitter ever-so-carefully dividing what's left of the yarn i...
Here's mine Amanda! http://mamafunk.typepad.com/getting_into_a_funk/2011/01/this-moment.html
{this moment}
{this moment} - A Friday ritual. A single photo - no words - capturing a moment from the week. A simple, special, extraordinary moment. A moment I want to pause, savor and remember. If you're inspired to do the same, leave a link to your 'moment' in the comments for all to find and see. *** *** ...
It looks amazing. Thanks for being honest about the PITA factor though, that is so helpful!
the rainbow rug
Looking back, I fully admit that this was one of those crazy pregnancy-induced projects. When else would someone find it necessary to spend weeks braiding, piecing, and sewing a rug for a play room? I can answer that! When that very someone found it INCREDIBLY uncomfortable to sit on the floor...
Great job Amanda! I read the Nearings books before having kids, and revisit them every so often. I have to be careful though, as they make me pine for a place in the country in a way that sometimes creates considerable dissatisfaction and irritation on my part. Perhaps, some day!
corners of our home :: simple fixes
In my rather grand and noble attempt to keep farm boots and food table in separate spaces (such a lofty goal!), I declared 'the barn' (which you enter before coming into the kitchen) as the place for jackets, hats, boots and all the incoming and outgoing wear that a family of six requires. Our b...
Oh the pants look great! And so does the shirt. Congratulations on your new spinning wheel!
trousers that FIT! and a bit of wool carding
Here's one of the pairs of trousers I made for myself. They're for sure the very first pair of trousers I've ever had that actually fit. I don't have to keep pulling them up every 30 seconds! So absolutely comfortable. This gray pair was made from some thrifted mystery fabric. I'm not sure what ...
Amanda, I have to say that I think future generations will look at your books the same way!

In my next life, can I come back as one of your kids? What awesome projects!
knights, castles, and the round table
This was from the theme we did on the Middle Ages and the Knights of the Round Table and King Arthur and all that. It lasted a pretty long time, the girls were very excited by it. I have a strong love of this time and of the legends that go with it, so it was pretty awesome. Sadie'...
Amanda, just wanted to let you know you've inspired me to pick up Elizabeth Zimmerman's books again. I tried some of the patterns about five years ago and was intimidated, but you've convinced me that it's worth the time and effort! Seems like her patterns really help TEACH about knitting, instead of just encouraging exact replication of a pattern. The sweater is beautiful!

WONDERFUL! Oh my goodness, they are amazingly beautiful. I am so, so inspired by your making something for yourself! (Now have someone take a picture of you wearing them! I'd love to see how the shirts fit.)
mama shirts
Here are two of the shirts that I've made for myself(!) over this past week. What fun it was to make these. I used the wonderful, life changing, awesome book Design It Yourself Clothes: Pattern Making Simplified by Cal Patch. I know I've told you all about the book a few times here on the blog, ...
SO cute! Oh my goodness. I think I need to make that pattern too, my little one needs some new pants! And thank you for the reminder that Silas really just wants to help us during the day, he's not interested in toys right now either. (And, he just got his first haircut too, he was getting that "baby mullet" and it was time......)
these pants are warm
{Since I took these photos last week, Harper got his first hair cut (by Calvin, the family stylist, of course) and and already his Mama is missing that funny little fuzz that lived at the back of his head.} This little boy Harper of mine is growing up. Surely, realizing that he will not be the...
Erin, I am sure you will approach having sponsors in the same thoughtful way you approach everything else on the blog! The straps are beautiful, no doubt about it!
Sponsors :: Broward Patch Camera Straps
After much thinking and debating, I have decided to open up my blog to sponsors this year. I put so much time and effort into this space, and I love every minute of it. But our wee family could use any support I can give them right now, so I am opening this space up to small business owners, han...
