the waiting is the worst part
This weekend, I enjoyed my annual opportunity to shoot a dance recital from back stage. The dance instructor is also a dancer in my wife's belly dance troupe & generously invites me to shoot the practice day as well as the show. I am always awed by the natural back... Continue reading

stairway to the second floor
Nothing quite so interesting as a stairway to heaven. However, there is some very nice light and lines for you to enjoy. This one was taken in the Braselton Bros. mill in downtown Braselton, Georgia during last weeks vacation with my family. I'm sure that there are a few more... Continue reading

miss kitty found a new home
While in Atlanta, visiting my parents, we discovered that their cat, Miss Kitty, has a new favorite place to nap. Seems that the cabinet holding all of the quilts is the perfect place to snooze. The life of a cat can be reduced to a few simple rules. If you... Continue reading

a star is born
After many years of disappointing blooms, our star magnolia finally showed what she could do. Why this year? We cut down a big ugly pine tree that was sucking up all of the sun around the magnolia. With plenty of sun to give it energy, the bush was spectacular. thought... Continue reading

Deb, I had a great week. I feel well rested and I needed that. We swapped some great stories about the Karrs and the McMurdos. :)
living as art
Living as Art 1 I wonder what your life would be like if you were a living, breathing, walking piece of art. Certainly you would need to be a brave soul and immune to the comments, stares, and opinions of others. You would have to walk your own path in life. Would it be a lonely life or ...
home
Yesterday, I made the trip back from Atlanta. It's been a wonderfully relaxing week. Plenty of time with my family and son. We told stories and made some new ones that will be used in future tellings. My niece, Katie, graduated from college, my sister-in-law got a new truck, and... Continue reading

Deb,
I read your comments last night and this morning, they were on my mind as I drove to work. Next week, I am on vacation in Atlanta and looking forward to the break from my routine and fromt this weather. A little sunshine, warmth, family, new scenery... it should do the trick.
Thank you,
Tim
photographer's block
Writers get it. Can photographers get it? I think I have it, the “it” being photographer’s block. For the last two years I have been working very hard to improve my photography skills. I have had a vision of where I wanted to take my photography. I have worked very hard over many long hours to ...
on my way
As many of you are aware, I have been struggling a bit lately. Trying to find a direction for my photography. In some ways, I feel as though I've lost my photo mojo for the moment. So, I am going to try a little experimenting. This will be an attempt... Continue reading

dawn drama
This morning I took a chilly walk along the lake shore as the sun rose up into the clouds. I was there to try a graduated ND filter for the first time (more on that later). I used the filter for this image and I am pretty happy with the... Continue reading

trillium trio
Down in Clifton Gorge, (where you can have the entire park to yourself if you get there at the crack of dawn), the trillium are at their peak. The trillium and bluebells have become an annual pilgrimage. One that I eagerly look forward to. It's a right of Spring. This... Continue reading

water and shadow
I had been on a long hike along the river and through the woods when I became interested in the reflections of the trees. They seemed to be living on the surface of the fast moving current. You never know when a good image will present itself. This one has... Continue reading

have you seen my chicken?
Charlie was all in a huff as he walked up to me. "I can't find Clara" he sputtered. For those of you not in the know, Clara is Charlie's favorite chicken. He dotes on the bird, though I am not sure that Clara returns the favor, as she seems to... Continue reading

fungus on a log
Some photos are what they are. there is no trying to make them out to be fancy or deep in meaning. They just are. This photo of fungus is one example. Of course, I have the same log in color as well. Nothing like a little fungus on a Friday... Continue reading

grape hyacinth
Every year, this patch of grape hyacinth appears in front of our picket fence ( I know, I am a walking, blogging cliche). Every year, I photograph this patch of grape hyacinth. Partly because I love the colors, and partly because they become the perfect laboratory to practice depth of field. ...
oh my darlin clementine
Yeah, I'm kind of crazy about clementines, one of the few citrus fruits that I encjoy and look forward to. I like a little lime from time to time,a nd a glass of cold lemonade ona hot summer day is something to savour. A clementine, however, is wonderful. From peeling... Continue reading

the 11:20 from indianapolis
Sixty three year old Betsy Thompson sat in the waiting room. The 11:20 bus from Indianapolis was due to pull up any time now and she was very excited to board. This was her first trip away. She'd spent her entire life in Gary, never venturing far from home. Until... Continue reading
