Wait....so this is not normal? The internet told me this is perfectly natural for training ammo and these purchases happen all the time.....

Many on this site were supportave of the drone strike on the American citizen Awlaki (sp?), including myself, but during that conversation my opinion was turned around, and now it's a total 180 after hearing this news. We need to recognize a slippery slope when we see one, and not worry about the messenger (tin foil types) because there's always a bit of truth to every outrageous story. With a supportave media, a bit of wrong information being "leaked," and an agency (DHS) willing to do the dirty work, any one in America, me or you, can lose our privacy, and even our life, to a machine in the sky operated by an uncaring glorified video gamer. This should scare the hell out of anybody.

I'd do it in a heartbeat, but being a veteran who saw a doctor one time about ptsd, I'm positive no liberal or sheep would want me in a school. In fact, I'm betting on the new gun ban that's comingthat there will be specific language against vets with ptsd.

I might have dismissed this as a wacky conspiracy theory non-story if I hadn't watched clinton make a bold-faced lie about a video while standing in front of the coffins of those who died in that attack, all the while trying her best to make a sad voice. Sometimes it's really interesting going back and watching speeches like that after new information comes out.

Keep up the good reporting guys. This is why I love this site so much, especially on important events like this. @DrillSGT - I can't buy the decision to leave them hanging for fear of hurting locals. If there had been a lowly garrison of mil-only troops down there, it would sound plausable, but I just don't think this admin would leave an ambassador to die like that. It doesn't go along with their idealism that the top gov't officials are more important than the rest of the population. Either way, there's A LOT to this story that needs to be fleshed out before we'll know the whole truth. And yes, we want to know.

Sounds like a great way to turn a suicidal person into a murderer.

And if the movie had never been made, they would have used something else as an excuse. In the past couple days, I've seen so many people, from regular joes on the street to "journalists," to pentagon officials blaming this movie for these attacks. Some of the same people who, months ago when a pastor burned some korans, said we can't blame one person for another's reaction half a world a way. If an American had decided to shoot some random people because a Florida fan told him TN sucked, he would be either dead or on trial right now. Instead, we blame ourselves for international incidents beyond our control. We've become the battered wives of the islamic world.

What's amazing to me is all those on the right saying we deserved it by letting this movie maker do his thing. Now I'm reading that the gov't has given out his real name and police in CA are looking for him. I guess if they can't arrest him for the movie, they'll find something to arrest him for.

You, I, and they know that will never happen, which is why they are attacking our other embassies right now.

That attack and the embassay BS had nothing to do with that stupid movie. And about the "dragging through the streets" thing: Everyone of us here knows what it looks like when Americans are killed and drug through the streets by the savages. They were torn to shreds. We've all had those images ingrained in our minds. Take another look at the ambassador and see if those images line up or not. I've seen too many non-contextual images being distorted into the opposite of what really happened to take these at face value.

You're right, I chose my words poorly. I was trying to find a one word description for when they tell the admin to stfu, and then this guy comes out with his book a week later, it just makes everyone look bad.

I'm kind of conflicted on this one. Part of it is the hypocracy of SEAL groups chastising the President for all these leaks for political gain, then one of their own does it. Another is the concern of OPSEC towards SEALs and the missions they take. I wonder what missions could have been conducted had the WH waited a week or two before their brag-fest on the backs of the SEALs? I think OPSEC should be inacted in this case, but the level of security that some are advocating here sounds more like they downed a UFO or made a moon-landing production. Bin laden was a major historical figure, and I don't think anything is lost in telling the story, even sanitized a bit. Where I have a problem is when it's clear from the first 24hrs the WH basically commissions a movie out of it for political gain. Thirdly, there is no shortage of SEAL storybooks out there. I can't go to the book store without coming across 5-6 about SEALs who've done this or done that. I don't see much of a difference here, except that it's very recent (1yr?). Maybe this guy just wanted to be a part of a long line of Hollywood SEALs and get famous? Why do we so rarely see books by Dealta operators? It's not because they don't do cool stuff, that's for sure.

There are a few (very few, if any) justifications for not allowing civillians to have military equipment, but as someone who believes wholeheartedly in the 2nd, civillians should NEVER be prevented from having the same equipment as law enforcement. People always look to the military when decrying a state of tyranny, but it's the local and national police throughout history who has always emplemented it.

While in Mosul, I was driving near the river and turned just in time to see two kids, one pointing a pistol directly at me, the other with what resembled an RPG on his shoulder. Subconciously, I already had a bead on the kid with the RPG. I had to make a split-second decision to fire, then realized the kid was holding a pipe, and the other one was holding a fake pistol. I didn't shoot a kid that day. If I, a rank amateur when it comes to shooting people, can make those split-second decisions, I believe cops should be held up to a higher standard when it comes to incidents of "turning while running away." I've heard enough talk by cops to make me think he was more pissed off at the perp running than he was in fear for his life. At least he went home safe, though, right?

To me, this wasn't about some gay/anti-gay statement that was completely blown out of proportion in the media. It was about supporting a really great food chain that has differentiated themselves amongst the competition not only by having better food, but providing a place I can take my family to eat where everyone is happy to be there. It's not about how a CEO expressed his social views to the public (something I'm not always fond of), but the manner in which nanny statists like the mayor of chicago and some dummy up in MA threatening to ban their resturants because of those views. My wife (Bless Her) thinks gays should be allowed to marry, but she was determined to go down and show her support (1.5hrs in line) because she had to live under communism and didn't want to see that crap happening here. As a sidenote, it's always struck me as kind of ironic that the further our society moves away from the Judeo-Christian value system we started out with, the more batshit crazy people become.

There's really nothing to humor, because it's impossible. The government provides nothing for free. If that were the case, it would be free to get a carry permit. As it stands, in my state, it costs around $135 to fill out some papers + $60 for an 8hr class. The cost to get a stamp to put a suppressor on your gun, or even buy a machine gun should be free, but it's $200. Hell it costs money to get permission to fish and/or hunt! I can't go down that hypothethical road with you, because it doesn't exist. We don't have a gun problem, we have a people problem. And more government regulations and mandatory stuff will not fix it. Give people the liberty to think and act for themselves.

Yeah, that's the solution, put more regulations on things and drive the costs of owning a firearm up so regular people can't afford them. Your logic, which may be well-meaning, has holes through it. A better solution would be for liberals to stop their war on guns and gun ranges so more can be established, giving people more opportunities to shoot for less than they have to pay now. Afraid or not, I've met more than my fair share of liberals/progressives who wouldn't think twice of putting a bullet in the back of my head if they could get their utopia. History proves this.

Too many people think the 2nd Amendment is about hunting. Many more know exactly what it's about and that's why they want it gone. A civillian should be able to own whatever he needs to protect the People from a tyrannical and overreaching government. The goat rope that's happening in Syria right now might have been over already if this were the case.

In a way, he's right. If it weren't for the rich communists setting him up all his life, a communist institution hiding his transcripts from the public, communist mass media propping up all the false hopes he promised while hiding the embarrassing stuff, and a whole gaggle of race-obsessed voters supporting him only because he's black, he would have never gotten out of Kenya.
