If all it takes to get a person elected as mayor in this city..is revisiting the one garbage BAG limit...while 30% wallow in poverty, another 30% leaving daily to earn sufficient bread to cover their needs. This is a sad state of affairs, that definitely does not speak loudly of a progressive vision for Hamilton, rather it smells of the same garbage that this City has been swimming in for several decades...

"Bob Bratina says he is in favour of "de-amalgamating" This reminds me of a spinning wheel- around and around we go...and when it stops we all end up in the same place,"Confused Hamilton" with the majority ready to puke. Much like the proposed re-visiting the one bag garbage issue, it's no wonder when I comes to issues like deciding where to build a stadium is such an ardent task. One has to ponder whether councilors are all trapped in some continues vortex, cycling in a constipated cycle of unconsciousness-

Mandy, I think you should pay more attention to what I wrote...I said "unionized public sector workers." as posted by the Spec."...the McGuinty government is preparing to announce a wage freeze for unionized public sector workers."

"McGuinty government is preparing to announce a wage freeze for unionized public sector workers. It's ok to pick on the "unionized public sector workers." who are the lowest paid and have the least control over job security... If McGuinty wants to do the right thing he would do so across the board union and non union...but fairness does not seem to be on his agenda...pick on those who can least defend themselves...It's McGuinty's nature...sneaky, deviant and a bully...

What we see here is a clear demonstration that out political system is out of control. Governments seem to think they can, at random, add taxes without firstly being accountable for the funds they already collect. This fiscal irresponsibility demonstrates their need be some mechanism that allows to public to have a no-confidence veto and call and immediate election. It's not that we don't recognize the Provinces need for funds by what must become a priority first is accountability for funds already being collected.
What's done is done, there is no point of crying for what could or should have been done...It seems local politicians are so divided that they can't agree on anything...it's little wonder that the public don't know if they are coming or going...

With regards to SWARU when it was built it was built outdated technology before it started...You can't compare SWARU with the newest technology available today. The question does City Council have the tools to insure that such technology will be a prime requirement and if so...It's time to lay the bricks.

There are many worse ventures this city has pondered... This one may not be perfect but we know technology in this are is improving all the time..but what is factual is the this city need revenue. Moreover there will always be garbage and while technology may not be perfect and whether Hamilton takes this step or not some one will and the effects may be no different but at least if Hamilton embarks on this project it will create jobs for ever. Nothing is perfect and I think this incinerator should have already have been built. It's time to be a little entrepreneurial, this is a far better venture than the airport and a profit guarantee for generations to come...go for it!

The blaming game for what one did or did not say...but as I said previously this is only the beginning of the flight to the US. Many of the responses, including councilors are a reaction to shock as there is very little that they can do. The bottom line is business and profits. The US is offering large incentives to attract these moves..while here in Ontario taxes are out of control and on the increase. When you can produce a product for one third less and ship them to Ontario for twice the cost of producing, as a business decision, there is no questions to be asked. The only thing that becomes finite is the date of moving. Perhaps if Hamilton operated more as a business city hall would have a better understanding of reality.

It's becoming and epidemic, Goodyear just announced that it's closing it's doors in Ontario and moving to the US as of Sept. 2010. Governments wast tax dollars like water flowing over Niagara Falls and what is left, tax and tax...including spending millions on day care in the name of kindergarten- buying votes. If this epidemic continues we will all be on the provinces payroll. It won't belong the whole province looks like Hamilton's downtown, more taxes and less jobs.

Deb, said, "I am happy that the Cdn $ is on par with the US $...shopping in the States is so much better than here. We are taxed to death in Canada" That may be so, but when you need medical attention, and other services that are provided with your tax dollars where do you go? The complaint with regards to that the taxes are to high lies in the fact that we don't hold our governments responsible and who's fault is that? We must separate taxes that are collected for essential services from the waste of our tax dollars..like e-health and other similarities. Moreover, when and if your job went south...you will be the first to blame the government. How many will stand up and force Governments to be accountable with real penalties that bar them form ever being in public office, including repaying such travesties, doing so will decrees taxes immensely.

The major issue with the loonie close to being on par with its U.S. is that is has a tremendous impact on sales to the US. History has demonstrated that when our dollar is at 85 to 87 cents with the US that our economy is more vibrant as our exports market remains high. When the dollar he at par or close there is a tendency that Canadian's spend more of their hard earned funds in the US, which also impact or Canadian retail sale. Considering the economic situation if the dollar remains high for a couple of years this will have a greater negative effect on the overall Canadian economy; including the fact that this may encourage industries and business to relocate to other countries where raw materials can be purchased cheaper.

Ferguson comment on the the posters could be libellous, demonstrates that he knows nothing with regards to the public right and what the courts have deemed, when it comes to comments on issues within the political arena. Claiming that something is libellous may be libellous in its self. Fairness is the perception of the individual and may include more than, "the project is ahead of schedule and below budget"

In reality we don't have a justice system, so let's call it what it is,"a political legal system. The administration of the present system has four realities, one for the rich, another for natives and another the poor, lastly one for repeat offenders who have nothing to lose and are content playing the fame of in and out of being incarcerated- While the focus of crime in the past years has been on gun crimes while white collared crime scamming billions of dollars is ramped. In particular within government, billions of dollars within e-health scammed etc..etc.. If the government wants to clean up on crime it should start doing so within each government department. We are not talking about a dollar slipping through someone's finger but billions. Governments seem to find words that are elusive to explain such losses but irrelevant is their definition such actions are theft and at best many should be charged with misuse of public funds... Perhaps once this has been accomplished we can examine all the other issues of the so called justice system.

Toyota's recall is over blown...; every automotive manufacture has had recalls. What seems to be going on, is that the media, most likely tweaked by the big three to take advantage of this situation and attempt to chisel away at Toyota's reputation hoping they can steel a greater share of the market. How about this...I purchased a Chevy pickup... and the fuel petal stuck, several times, I was on a trip, One could not predict when this would occur. When I returned I took it to the dealer. They knew immediately what the cause was...the throttle body...but they did not have a recall...repairs were done based on complaints...How many accidents did this cause? I am still driving this vehicle and issue has not reoccurred. If it was left up to the big three we would still be driving those big gas guzzlers...

In this situation, and considering the appearance of a double standard of treatment between the Natives and the residents of Caledonia, The Crown's withdrawal of said charge only adds to fuel that our Police are simply a political institution and that out legal system is more concerned with protecting those within the system. When one considers, "A judge ruled there was sufficient evidence a trial should proceed."(Tom Robertson) Clearly speaks volumes of political partisan that is asserted by the Ontario's chief counsel for justice.
