C Bob -- I guessing that the choice to not rescue and support our people is at least partially due to the fact that our gov't may have been illicitly supplying the Al Queda linked rebels with arms. We supply them and then they turn around and kill our people....(or insert some other embarassing scandal here). The relief of the AfriCom CINC now makes sense as well as why the command structure did not work correctly in order to provide support.

Chow Line, You can argue the details of "what and when" all you want as I am sure all the politicians will. The fact is that not much of any effort was made to assist adn rescue those under fire....even if they had arrived to late. The perception has become reality....this is especially true and significant to those still serving in billets that could potentially be in harms way. This fact may not mean much to YOU, but if you are a U.S. diplomat or the family of one, it sure as hell means alot. You obviously have little specific knowledge of your "examples" and what happened in each case. Our government HAS contingency plans with pre-positioned resources to respond to incidents such as Benghazi. The incident in question occurred over a period of 24 hours; plenty of time to at least respond...even if it was to late to save all the lives in question. The U.S. Marine barracks bombing was an instantaneous attack with no warning. The bomber was dead and no follow-on attacks ocurred. Troops did react and respond. The same reaction in Benghazi would have been GREAT and lives may have been saved that could not have been in Beirut. Do your research; appropriate reactions in each case DID occur and lives were saved to the extent that they could be as resources arrived. SUMMARY -- Our Gov't DID RESPOND...unlike here! I refer you to my statement and examples above; NEO's are one of the appropriate examples of how our government could have chosen to employ the military to respond. They did not. No response..... there really isn't any getting around that. The "cover-up" is another issue entirely, but that fact that it so blatantly occurred says alot about what they felt they should have done, albeit after the fact. The mere fact that you argue this issue as if it is any other political debate says alot about how you value the average life of a U.S. citizen. Put yourself in the shoes of the wife, mother, child, or other immediate family member of those who died in Benghazi for a moment. Would you really still be saying that enough effort was made after the attack had begun. (I won't even bother to debate whether "warning's" were properly given or heeded with you. I am affraid that would definitely be a waste of my time.) FYI--Your attempt (nor Hillary's)to minimize the damage and impact does not actually make it go away or erase it from history. If you are still trying to equate another historical situation that resulted in dead U.S. personal --such as Desert One---and then asking why we care so much more in this case. I will tell you in simple terms: there were belligerents in Benghazi, whereas there were no enemy combatants involved in Desert One; the Benghazi situation unfolded over a period of many hours with little to no assistance provided to those in need. The troops on the scene in Desert One were capable of recovering their dead and injured and then executing their own extraction. This was not the case in Benghazi. It's simply a matter of TRYING to help, even if is too little or to late. That is what is really meant by "leave no man behind". Instances in Vietname occurred regularly in which large numbers of U.S. forces put themselves at risk and then were killed or captured all while attemtping to rescue downed pilots or ambushed recon teams. That unfailable willingness to make the effort, whether successful or not is what is important. From where I sit.....it doesn't look like much if any effort was really made. THAT IS THE POINT and what is important. (FYI...I am not a Hillary-hater, but by her testimony, she obviously does not understand this concept. It looks as if she just wanted to wait until the shooting stopped and not take decisive action. Not making a decision IS making a decision.)

It's hard to believe you even put that forth as a possible cause.... You have obviously NEVER served in the military or for your country in a capacity such as the foreign servcie or representing the U.S. overseas in some way. If you had, you'd understand that there have always been and will be "cutbacks" in pursuit of saving funds...especially during peacetime or a drawdown. However, during times of crisis such as a contingency like this, money is far from -- if at all -- of a concern when considering how to respond and take action. I will the many prallel examples of the MANY NEO's (Non-combatant Evacuation Operation) of the U.S. embassies that took place in West Africa in the mid to late 1990's and the TRAP mission rescuing O'Grady in Bosnia in 1995. Money was not an issue. Rescuing the U.S. citizens was the primary concern and mission. Your assertion is born of your perspective of not serving and thus not understanding that never conceding a U.S. citizen's life is what makes us different from all other nations. Each life actually means something. Your viewpoint is simply through a poltical "lense" (unfortunately) which has driven your conclusion.

If there ever was a time that I would be IN FAVOR of someone coming out with a "Tell All" book....now would be that time. Looks like all of the survivors are being kept "under lock and key".....too bad.

Sounds like someone (Hunter) has been OUT of the military too long and been IN politics too long. Too bad. A politician acting like politicians are want to do. Shitty. Glad the General didn't stand for it.

And if a car backfires and triggers shooting, what exactly was gained and at what cost???? I hate to say it, but anyone who falls in with this dipshit is almost dumb enough to be deserving of the results. Almost....

Those who are dumb enough to march with him better make out their will. After Boston, all it might take is one uninformed (of the so-called peacefull march) beat cop to shoot first. F'ing idiots.... Jimbo, you're dead on....attention for himself rather than the cause is his goal.

Good info LW. FYI....just found this link on an MMA website..... http://www.mixedmartialarts.com/news/436788/Deceased-Boston-bomber-boxed-at-Wai-Kru/ It tell's quite abit about "who" this guy really was as a person. After reading the interview with him (he was an accomplished boxer), he was obviously a devout Muslim, who over his nearly 20 years in the US says that he "never made one American friend". And that "he doesn't understand them". The same website also has him talking about how he refrains from doing certain things such as taking his shirt off, "so women don't get bad ideas". Classic Islamic fundamental brain-washing....."The rest of the world is at fault for my crazy guilt and as a result, I must kill you all"....type of bullshit.

"I hope the North will ratchet this very dangerous rhetoric down." Spoken like a man with no plan, nor a clue how to find one. If we get through the final years of Barry's term without another major conflict breaking out partially contributed to by the ineptness of his admin we will be lucky. The bloodshed of Benghazi is prime example fo what WILL happen when you have inept people with crazy agenda's or priorities in positions of responsibility.

Hmmm debatable.....Murtha convicting those Hiditha Marines in the court of public opinion went A LONG way towards creating the public environment and sentiment of "pressure" that led the military to charge under the UCMJ, ruin their careers, and create 4-5 years of hell for them and thier families. He's a traitor in my book, and if I could light him on fire or see him disemboweled.....I'd watch, cheer, or help.

Underneath alot of the humiliation and insult delivered by these fools on a hero is the fear, ignorance, and blind group-think, inbred liberal-crazy stupidity that is now rooted in British society (and taking deep root here as well). It is evidenced by the statement that she would not be allowed to change into her fatigue/camouflage utlity uniform because....."it will cause the passengers to become upset, affraid, or angry." As if the uniform due its nature equated violence and ought to be kept hidden. Not exact quotes. This very idea shows the ignorance and true disdain that the average citizen has for servicemen and women. They are humiliated by us and what they think we do or have done for them and are willing to laud us as long as it is not perceived to embarrass them. But more importantly, keep that disgusting and violent side hidden and don't you dare bring it into the light. It is also this ignorance that causes the average citizen to also be ignorant and affraid of your average rifle and hand gun.

Whatever parental sympathic heart-strings the father may have pulled within you, let's take a step back for a moment and consider the following: --The very nature of treason and the disclosure of a specific classified fact or piece of info, is that our nation's safety is at risk as well as ALL of those agents and handler's who helped in the collection of that intelligence. (He disclosed alot mroe than just one item of intell.) The disclosure of the info either puts these agents and operatives lives at risk IMMEDIATELY or eventually in the future at an uknown time and palce.....along with the newly enhanced risk to our nation. DEAD U.S. operatives (US citizens) or foreign agents. It's easy to not see the defined danger and impact of the damage --- and most of it will likely never be made public ---unless the new WTC is bombed as a result. But just because you don't see it, doesn't mean that intell wasn't gathered, and an attack wasn't prep'd for, and U.S. citizens wern't killed as a result. It even be several years later----all as a result of Manning, his ego, and stubborn immaturity. FYI -- He may have acted with immaturity, which may have been his father's defense ("He's just a kid...."), but he isn't a kid and he knew the UCMJ when he went into the service. Lock him up. If it was your brother who was a CIA operative put at greater risk, you might just tell Manning's father to go get %$#@ed.

FYI ....I think you'd be VERY surprised at the numebr of female's who are now considering gun ownership. Again, due to a NEED. I am from Detroit originally and called home to talk to my mom the other day. Break-in's are on the rise (significant increase) in the suburbs and she -- due to living alone is now taking a class on gun ownerhsip and safety in anticipation of purchasing a handgun. Keep living in your own little world where everyone agree's with you and you will always be asking "WHY would anyone want to __________(fill in the blank)???" And liberal's claim to be the MOST understanding and compassionate of all people. Love it... I am a proud Independent; beholden to no party or group of poeple. I welcome you to try being as open minded.

Let me draw a word picture for you; maybe it will help you understand. I don't carry very often, but I am a small business owner. As such, there are specific times when I am carrying alot of cash and I DO carry a weapon. I wouldn't expect you to understand as you obviously don't have a need for the use of a weapon nor do you want to obviously own one. You also are unwilling to try to think of how or why someone else would ever want or NEED to use a tool such as gun. Too bad. Your "what question's and statement's" say it all about you..... May I suggest that you try to think outside your "box of a world"...to steal a phrase, and think that not everyone who carry's a gun is a "nut" or crazy. Maybe they actually have a "need". Pretty reasonable in my book, but I am sure that you will discount my statements with some statement such as: "Business owner's are a very small percentage of the total number of owner's and that doesn't explain this demand for weapons....blah blah blah". If this is your response, again I would say, you are failing in your attempt to try to understand. The way I see it, if these folks are not doing anything illegal with their weapon, who cares if they own it, want to carry to church while naked, or think that it is the ebst accessory next to sunglasses??? Why do you feel the need to stop them with your ignorant questioning???

Hey, only stating the facts as I haev witnessed them in the past. But the Navy's idiosincracies aside, they are GREAT teammates & shipmates the care they provide is TOP NOTCH. I am sure for every time that we looked at them and said: "Do you think ANYONE in their unit knows what the uniform of the day is???", that they looked at us twice and shook their heads while laughing and attempting to try to understand the method behind the madness of your average Jarhead. Much respect. Different can be good.
