Love swoon! Love the big, beautiful blocks. Salt and pepper crusted salmon a la Ina Garten is a fav over here. It's from the salmon with lentils recipe. The lentils are more labor intensive so on a busy night we just do the salmon with some easy sides like brown rice and garlicky broccoli. Yum.
Yep, the new stuff
I'm back! Wow, that was a lot of work. I always love Quilt Market, especially the part where I get to see all my friends, but it is so wonderful to be home. I've been dying to show you my new patterns for a month now, and today is the day. It is always half exciting, and half just plain t...
blocks out
I love this block. I think you could do so many pretty configurations with it for a quilt. It's the scrappy striped block from this tutorial from The Joy Cottage. I used it for the 3x6 sampler quilt mini bee... Continue reading

Feedsack quilt?? I'll be watching out for that one. Love feed sacks. The binding was from a spot called G Street Fabrics in Virginia - I got it when I used to live in DC. I don't even know the brand or anything - otherwise I would share!
birthday bunting
Henry turned one in February and, since we just moved back to Minnesota, he got to spend it with four out of his six grandparents. We had a little birthday bash, which of course called for some decorations. I used red and light blue fabrics from my stash. I also happened to have some green g...
Aww, thanks lady.
celebrate the boy! Henry's racetrack quilt.
I am just eeking this in at the very last minute of Celebrate the Boy. I finished this quilt on December 19th - just in time for Christmas - but I'm just blogging about it now. It was my first Christmas gift to Henry. You recognize it, right? Yes, yes you do. It is HEAVILY inspired by Hil...

in the works
I'm so excited about this quilt. These pink, red, white and gray blocks have been transformed into half square triangles. Soon, they will fulfill their destiny as pinwheels for a massive pinwheel quilt. Check the red in that last one.... Continue reading

owl softie
A little owl for my sister's best friend. She's expecting her first. Gender neutral green because she and her husband want to be surprised. This was made with Retro Mama's owl softie pattern. The pattern is simple and adorable. I've used it for baby gifts and to make my own little man some ...

Thanks for your note Mariana! My best to you too.
back
Had a baby three months early. Spent 4 months in the NICU. Then four months on maternity leave. Now we've got a new, and better, normal. And it means I am back to crafting and blogging about it. The blogging part was a surprise, but I guess I couldn't stay away. Meet Henry! Now back to c...
new pillows
I've been on a huge sewing kick since we moved. I decided to use some of the very little Flea Market Fancy fabric that I own - pink leaves. I didn't want to do anything but showcase the fabric. I... Continue reading

I love it! I bet Oscar does too. Lucky boy :) Cheers to the Celebrate the Boy series!!
Oscar's lego quilt
Alright, let's celebrate the Oscar! When Rae asked if I wanted to participate in this year's Celebrate the Boy series on her blog I hopped on board because it's been about a year that I've had a pile of fabric set aside for a lego themed quilt for Oscar and I thought this would be a kick in ...
three owls
I made these for Henry before he was born. They still make me smile! They also make me laugh because I went for such subtle blues and browns. Obviously my house hadn't exploded in primary colors yet. I was still... Continue reading

I don't like clutter and I probably spend too much time de-cluttering. I've accepted this about myself. So I'm always looking for ways to simplify things and satisfy my desire for order and organization. And, if I can make it... Continue reading

Mira,
I get most of my Japanese sewing and crochet books from etsy or ebay. I love a few etsy sellers in particular because of their large selection - like PinkNelie and pomadour24. If you're in New York you could also check out Kinokuniya - a Japanese book seller. They have a huge selection of craft books.
cherry trees and japanese design
Today is the first day of a two week break before starting my new job. I'm excited to have this time off for many reasons including knitting and crochet time, dog park visits, a little travel, and at least one day dedicated entirely to sewing. I'm also grateful to have a little more time t...
