I think that's a muscle shirt.... ;) Reminds me of the Bruce Campbell poster for Army of Darkness. :) But different.....

Heh, I remember Bruce Campbell telling a story about voicing Pitfall Harry in one of the later iterations of the game. Whenever his son got *really* pissed at Bruce he would lock himself in his room and boot up the game. Then Bruce would hear himself screaming as his son would run him off a cliff in the game over and over. He said it was mildly disturbing... :D

At PAX while I was playing on it I was told it was only $15,000 but that the D&D program they had running on it was a tech demo and not licensed in any way so we'd pretty much have to code it ourselves for that. I was more responsive than I thought, but for D&D I'm old school. I like to roll my own dice and focus more on the story than what is on the table in front of the players. I'm going to be so sad when my kids rebel by going all digital for their games.

Ok, *that* would be cool. I tried to find people to play OGRE with this weekend at PAX and it just never worked out. I have the set that came in the VHS case (was there any other release?)but that still took up a lot of room in my limited space non-magical bag of holding. An iPad would have been a lot more efficient. Well, send out a Twitter if that ever happens. Until then I'll be walking the lonely road with this VHS box looking for challenges while the theme song to The Incredible Hulk plays in the background. :)

Oh yes! I remember the first time I saw Akira. My friend told me not to watch it because it sucked and he couldn't believe he wasted his money on it. I had never really watched anime before then but after I insisted on watching it anyway I was totally hooked. I even took Japanese in college just so I wouldn't have to wait for subtitled versions to come out. That totally paid off when Macross Plus first hit the states (through the anime club underground, not Bandai.) My huge library of bootleg anime. *sigh* So many VHS tapes. They took up so much room. :P The original Bastard!! where in the Japanese version all the names were based off of 80s rock bands. ("I am Bon Jovina of the Metallicana army!") The American dubbers changed all that. :( I have my 6yr old daughter hooked on Robotech. Every day she comes home from school and I let her watch another episode. :) Gotta pass the torch on. *salute*

Oh no!!!!! I just went and pulled mine out and my old AD&D Player's Handbook is missing!!! Do you know how hard it is going to be to find out who I lent it to 20 years ago, track them down and get them to give it back to me? I smell an Epic Quest..........

Aeofel, we salute you. I am *really* looking forward to the next podcast when Aeofel's twin brother 'Al' (he's got to have a reason for hating that name...)comes around seeking vengeance. I actually really hate it when people just rename a clone of their character so please don't do that. ;)

Very off topic for this post (even though I am *really* looking forward to your Big Bang Theory episode!!) Wil, I would totally put a purple ribbon magnet on my car. Totally. I won't say anything else for fear of spoilers.

It's the avid role-playing that makes me love this 3rd series the best of all. Scott even comments on it at one point mentioning how you have all progressed from "What's an Armor Class?" to "I skirt from the floor to the wall and hop off the table as I attack him with a sweeping blow." The fluidity with which you capture the essence of your characters is what differentiates these from the other D&D podcasts I listen to. Now if you guys could only get Vin Diesel to play the rogue in the 4th series....

I'm doing my part!! I've had that song stuck in my head for two days now. My iPod is getting tired of playing it. ;) What an awesome lead in for Season 3. I am *totally* excited about it.

Did someone say we should have a L4D co-op night with Wil Wheaton?!? If they did I second the motion. :)

Off topic....but since I don't twitter: Wil, did you see that Aeofel is now included as a 'sample character' in the latest Character Builder update? Awesome portrait too! :) How does it feel to have your personal character bundled in with the likes of Drizzt and Raistlin? I can't wait for the minis. ;)

I used to use OpenRPG as a free RPG generic virtual table. It was pretty awesome when it worked. I'm open to suggestions on new ones to use though. I'm assuming WotC won't get theirs up for another couple of years. ;)

Quick! I need a time-machine! Or something that can slingshot me around the sun. Because that always seems to work in various Sci-Fi (SyFy?!?) shows.

Apparently Friday's Penny-Arcade news post announced that the PA guys want to add Vin Diesel into the next round of D&D podcasts as a rogue. How awesome would it be to have him as the 5th member of your party?!? :)

One more, next Wed. Then you will have all 8. :)

I think the 'On The Bit' is my favorite Witchalok At-Will power. Nice thing about the Character Builder is that you can totally add all that as custom content. :) I think a witchalok Witchalok might make an appearance in one of my upcoming games. Muhahahaha! If I didn't mention it before, someone at my table took a picture of the Gelatinous Cube encounter and finally posted it on my site. http://3clipsesworld.blogspot.com/

Hear that? He said they are bringing in a thief for the 3rd podcast series. I heard it, did you hear it? Where do I submit my application? ;) Awesome job, can't *wait* for the next one. :) (and the Family Guy episode looks hilarious too!)

I must say, I am *very* fond of setting Dwarves on fire. They can take it, it just scares the bad guys more. :) You did awesome in that game! You seem to prefer ranged attacks so you forgetting to add your weapon prof bonus isn't really affecting you. I recently saw a post somewhere that likened the Avenger class to Batman. It totally made sense too. http://www.critical-hits.com/2009/03/13/avengers-batman-is-a-divine-striker/ Off to read PHB2!

Nice job! And now that I have finished with this, it's off to the gym with my iPod to listen to the latest Penny-Arcade podcast that just came out today. :) 1:08:48! Much better than 25 minutes. ;) I can't wait!

Heh...cue ominous music..... The first time my group entered a dungeon I hit play on my stereo remote I had hidden behind my screen. Music from the Diablo 2 soundtrack softly entered the room. Most everyone there had been rabid Diablo 2 fans and their eyes lit up in recognition. I think it really helped them settle into a zone and really get back into the RPG mindset. I always like to have something ready on the playlist for big boss encounters like the dragons. Not so loud as to disrupt the gameplay, just enough to enhance the mood.

I have two sets of the old Hero Quest board game from forever ago that I cannibalize. I had painted most of the monsters when I was younger and the doors, chests, tables and other items are already scaled for a 1" square based map. If I didn't already have that I'd probably be using tokens of some sort for the most part. Of course, because I *did* have it, I felt justified in getting a few boxes of random minis as well as the Gargantuan White Dragon Icingdeath set. The dragon just sits in the back of the room, staring at the party. They know I'll put him on the table eventually......

Oh wow!! (sorry to butt in here) I *just* finished reading Plague of Spells last night and Wil himself told me about the hollow G-Cube right in time for my group to encounter it in the Keep the following weekend. Wow, did that work out in an awesome way. They've been talking about it constantly ever since. :) I made them think the room was extra clean because of a protection aura or something, so when an obviously magical sword floated towards them in a non-threatening manner, the Paladin was quick to reach out his hand to accept it.... hilarity ensued. :D Huge fan of your work. Your descriptions of the newly changed Faerun after the Spellplague really helped me set the stage for the 3.5e guys in my group. They *love* 4E and haven't looked back since. :) I can't wait for the next book! Thanks so much!
