Interestingly enough, I just toured a New York State Canal Museum this past weekend and they did a little piece on the ice industry. Much of it was transported via the canal from various lakes around the state. What was most impressive was that the average family in the 1800's would use 300 blocks of ice each summer in order to keep things cool.

Bartender: "Why are you pouring that tequila down the drain?!?" Manager: "Somebody decided to play a trick on you and filled these anejo bottles with water". Bartender: "GAH!!!!"

I can't talk, ladies and gentlemen. Honest, it's just laying there, a mass of smoking wreckage. Ah! And everybody can hardly breathe and talk, and the screaming. Lady, I–I'm sorry. Honest: I–I can hardly breathe. I–I'm going to step inside where I cannot see it. Charlie, that's terrible. Ah, ah—I can't. I, listen, folks, I–I'm gonna have to stop for a minute because I've lost my voice. This is the worst thing I've ever witnessed.

I have long though that whisk(e)y makers should sell special packaged versions of their products with a 750ml and a 375ml of the water they use in dilution.

Interesting pair of articles. I can relate to a lot of this. One thing that happens in my realm of life is that life happens. This has caused some delays in writing reviews, and unfortunate changes of plan with RSVP's. I may have all the best intentions, but when health and finances rear their ugly heads, things change. Overall tho', virtually all of the PR people I work with go above and beyond. I can think of a few in particular whom I consider friends. Blair

My wife and I have preferred this version for many years now. The gin cuts the sweetness of the cola in just the right way.

What size egg do most of you use? Small, Medium, Large or Extra Large? It seems that you don't want a lot of white, otherwise the drink is too "eggy".

One of my favourite games is to hit the pause button and name the spirit brand whenever there's a bottle shot in a tv show or film. It's even come to the point where sometimes the bottle shape is a dead giveaway if they've created a fake label. An obsession....

So, how did things get changed? Preference, or can you find precedence in regional cocktail guides? Reminds me of how vodka supplanted gin in the Martini.

Also, there are some errors. Bourbon for instance, does not belong in a Sidecar. :(

I'm surprised that Absinthe takes such a large piece of the pie. Imagine if this poster was all that Jerry Thomas had left us. Gah!!!

I made this for a few family members on Xmas eve and found that a thin wheel of lemon and a rim rubbed with a lemon twist served it quite well indeed. Went over like hotcakes. :)
