Armando I don't completely disagree with you especially the latter part of your prose, however Ireland must do everything he can to protect the quarterback. Plain and simple protect his blind side and if it means the 54 pick (what is projected on NFL network) then that's a admirable solution for a year or two no matter if he gets Jack Long money. At this point based on Long recent injury bug-his value is gone and I don't think Long will ever play up to his first 3 and a half seasons when he was complete stud. We should get this done asap and move on I don't see signing him up sooner rather than later as panic move. Yet, if we make the move for Albert and trade down in the draft and make up that pick or better, then Ireland looks like a genius which is something that does not happen. Yet look at the Brandon Marshall trade to the Bears...though getting him made him look bad back then, trading him for 2 third rounder's made up for his mistake. So he is not afraid to add a player he feels we may need now yet, he had the propensity to make up for his mistakes and moving on without players he may have drafted in early rounds. In other words he doesn't compound a bad early round pick by hanging on to long with that player. Ireland is among other things adaptable, because in life, much like the NFL "change is constant and change is good" Here's to a good draft! GoDolphins4life Out!

Sorry tyos guys but hey we all have them huh! Mark, I dont think it would be such a bad thing if Tannehill had to sit a few games or more...Matt More is a good player and the way our defense is playing he won't be asked to win many games. But, I do hope Tannehill comes back I'm more concerned with Reggie Bush because he just seems to me he;s not running the ball like he did the first 3 games but we have alot of games to play and I'm sure if healthy he will get back to his earlier results. On one hand it was nice to see Daniel Thomas get back to running the ball better, but I sure would like to see the rookie rb play some more, he looks explosive at times. But I very happy with the results and it's a long season ok I have to get back to work lots to do. Dolphins4lifeout!

Wow, I thought the game would be close and we would pull off a win, but the thrasing we gave the jets on defence was very nice to see, special teams was great and we had a couple nice td's by Daniel Thomas and a BEAUTY by Fasano! I loved that one and it's good to see Fasano tap dancing the sideline for a td, he's one of my favorite players as is Paul Soliai. Paul's int was a thing of beauty and the big guy gave his dance classic. Everyone on D was in on the action tipped balls, sacks, qb strips, pass defelctions and int by the safety. Complete game by the D! love it. Special teams great job got to love it! Matt More came in and did a great Job you have to love his gunlinger mentality. But a big shout out goes to our coach and his coaching staff! Our teams is making huge strides and it starts with them. I don't know what our record will be at the end of the season, but I most certainly know we are headed in the right direction for sure! No doubt in my mind the growth by our rookie qb and each week our defence and special teams has gotten better. To me that means at every level at every position we are getting better from top to bottom. I'm excited and we have only just begun, wait till we land a few really good wide-outs and another seam player to help Fasano. On D we are still playing with one good cb in Smith and plug in's at the other coner. The best is yet to come, and here is why: Aside from the things i just mentioned the biggest thing to me is the MIND SET the coach has instilled in this organization. The devil is in the details and Joe Philbin is great at not only the macronomics of football but the micronomics of the game. And the way a winning organization should not only be run, but how each player should carry themselves. The best is yet to come guys and I like what I see so far yes in deed I do! Dolphins4lifeout!

Welcome back Armando, Glad to get back to training camp and football this Friday. Can not wait for some Dolphin football! I expect the Dolphins to compete and hopefully comeout with a 8-8 season. But the truth is with a new coaching staff I dont know what to expect...I know that if we come out the gate losing our first 5-7 games like last year I will be rooting for Matt Barkely sweep stakes. The thing with picking Tanehill at the 8 spot, the new coaching staff, baited by ownership and desperate fans, had to. I didnt think he has the value to be selected so high, yet they would have run the new coach out town if they didnt pick the best available qb at that pick. Who knows he might turn out to be good only time will tell. Peaceout! Dolphins4life!

Good Day to all fellow Phin fans, at least those who have yet to jump ship. I understand what Ross has been trying to go in going after all these big name coaches and players to no avail...it his timing and approach that has made him and our beloved Dolphins look bad. But you can't blame him for trying to make this a championship team and creating the perfect storm of coaches, players and management. As far as Jeff Ireland goes, he has been somewhat hamhacked during Parcells era, as Parcells has been responisble for the first 3 drafts but checked out mostly last year and Parcells style and talent evaluation has'nt really panned out the way ALL us Dolphin fans thought it would. This blog site was at its busiest during the first two-three years Parcells was "buying the groceries" yet are we better off since...if we are not by much and I won't get into details as to what players have panned out or fizzled. However this draft will be Jeff Ireland and the new coaching staff thumb print through and through. This will be the most interesting draft since Parcells took office and I for one beleive Tannehill maybe a bit of a reach but Ireland has no choice as he is the 3rd best QB available in the draft. That is saying alot due to the fact that he's had only 19 starts and is rated ahead of guys like Stanton, Weeden and many others. Upside he has as much as any QB in the draft IMO, look at compare all these guys first 19 starts in college ball. Has one of the best arms in the draft and yes he still may be somewhat green but tons of potential and is willing to out work anyone! And that is the best quality a football player can have, a desire to work 2,3 or 4 times as hard as anyone else. If we have a bad season and we don't draft a QB look for the Dolphins to position themselves to go after Matt Barkely-even if the Dolphins have a decent season with either Matt More or David Garrard, Mark Barkley will be high on Dolphins list. O Course we wont or should'nt trade 3 number ones ala Washington and IMO very bad move especially when we are in REBUILDING mode, that is a major mistake by Washington and would be if the Dolphins were to ever do the Same. I personally was happy to lose the "Suck for Luck" campaign our loser fans were chanting, no-way I would never want to be a part of that. I unserstand we displaced ourselves out of the running for Luck or RGIII but I would rather win a football game and cheer for my beloved Dolphins than to hope and pray to lose for any one player! Its a loser mentality and would never want any part of that, there are 7 rounds in the draft and rookie free agents to be had and build a team around as folks forget there are 11 started on each side and 53 players per team, you win with all 53 players playing as one, one team, one unit and FRANCHISE! Dolphins4life! I'm out and will check in later in the week keep the faith, it may not happen this year or next or the year following, but it will happen! Beleive in Joe Philbin! It will happen. Jeff Fisher, Bill Cowhar, or John Grudden all would be upgrades over Tony Sparano, but the truth of the matter is we need sweeping changes up and down the front office and coaching staff and some roster spots. The rub is we have had coaches in here with past success only to jump ship for one reason or another and would be better served picking a coach who is more hungry than accomplished. To me that means someone who's either an assistant coach in the NFL or a college head coach. We have been snake bitten by the likes of Jimmy Johnson and Bill Parcells, not to mention a owner who made the past off season hard for the team and head coach by shopping for a head coach while we have one. That makes the Dolphins look bad and hurts futures coaches who might have been turned off by his cross country smoozing of Jim Harbaugh. Dont get me wrong I love Jim Harbaugh wish the Dolphins did get him, but to court him while we had a head coach?...flat out wrong. look the coach we do end up getting has to have a strong personality like Harbaugh and have a offensive mind or a offensive assistant coach who is a guru. Ok gotta go check in later Dolphins4lifeout!

Gates is a great athlete! And played Basketball and has a 40 vertical. As a football player he needs route running to be polished up quite a bit. But has that pure raw speed that when this guys gets the hang of his routes man look out, he has good hands, huge upside!

I'm starting to be impressed with Jeff Ireland! He's a gunslinger! Moving up into the second and getting the second coming of OJ Anderson! in Danile Thomas but with more speed. And then shooting for the speedster Edmund Gates! who has good hands and great speed and will also play special teams. Ireland sticking to the core principles of tough hard nosed football but with speed. I love the Pouncey pick! So now we have a young good rb with a much much better O-line and a player who stretches the field for all the playmakers! Now we need a TE! Dolphins4life!

Im back! Armando If what you are saying is true I do beleive the Dolphins will try to trade down but no further than 23 and maybe add a 3rd rounder, and try to still land Pouncey. Now ESPN is saying that the Steelers are looking to trade up to as high as 15 to take Pouncey. That might play a roll in having to take Pouncey some what earlier than expected...such is that case when the draft is short of good interior lineman. And in this draft Pouncey is the best. Sparano newly found influence on this draft will speak loudly if they take Pouncey at 15. What we get is very good player that can anchor the middle and pull very well almost as good as his brother, apple didnt fall far, but the Dolphins get this for the next 10-12 years. Instantly upgrading the position and line. Interesting thig is Ireland will want to also put a stamp on this his first draft with out having to answer to Parcells. I get the feeling, based on his willingness to add a troubled playmaker in Brandon Marshall, that Jeff Ireland is a bit of a gun slinger. So lets see what Ireland has up his sleve as he still needs to add a second rounder if not at least a third rounder. He had promised to Parcells last year. He gave away two but got one back, let see if he gets the other second rounder he gave up to get Marshall. Dolphins4life!

Armando Based on what you say how these QB's are graded, If the Dolphins add a second rounder and Jake Locker is available I believe the Dolphins should nap this guy! I have a feeling about jake locker from Washington... You said there are no John Elway's in this draft, but when I see Jake Locker play he reminds me more of John Elway than any other QB that come to mind. Locker is not Elway but, Locker's toughness and running ability and the fact that he throws better on the run than in the pocket, and he has a very strong arm,(i've seen games where Lockers throws are off his back foot strikes) much the way Elway played. To a certain degree his toughness and willingness to take contact was his down fall this past year, one in which he played hurt the whole season. Don' help to have a bad O'line. But that is a teachable aspect that Locker can learn: when to get out of bounds or slide for a first. But what I would like to know is why the Dolphins have yet to send one coach or someone from the Dolphins to have a look at Locker and work him out or anything. Are they playing possum or the old rope a dope? I mean they have gone out of their way to entertain Ryan Mallett and have had him over the Dolphins training complex half a dozen time at least and have visited him in Arkansas three times. Ryan Mallett has just about everything you want in a QB's save for speed and pocket mobility, which is essential in todays NFL! Because the defensive side of NFL football is where all the great athletes and freaks are, you need a QB with the ability to make something happen when the play breaks down! Mallett is not gonna make anything happen when a given play break down save for something positive for the other team. Mallett can make all the throws and is probably the most NFL ready player if that team that chooses him has the great wall of china for a O'line! How many teams have that? I dont like any of these QB's in the first round, not one. But if I can pick one after the first round to sit one year maybe two and be NFL ready it would be Jake Lokcer. 4.52/40! RUKM! Dolphins4life!

Armando I know our schedule is tough but not as tough as last year and we have become a better team. Hence Karlos Dnasby, who I said was huge! pickup and the Beast Marshall who again is huge! Those teams you just mentioned will have to contend and account for them too. But the biggest pick up for sure IMO is Mike Nolan! Yes if this defense improves and it will, but not just improves but moves into a top ten or so D it will have been cause of Mike. Nolan is gonna make this defense better the way he made Denver's better. The year before Mike arrived in Denver they were 31st n D. For a big part of the year last year, Denvers D was tops in the NFL and ranked I belive 8th when the year ended, and made a 5-11 245 lb'er in Dumerville the nfl sack leader. I'm looking forward to see what Nolan does with Wake, who lead the CFL in sacks twice before he arrived in Miami and was defensive MVP. Last year Wake flashed a ton and was caught behind the soap opera of Taylor and Porter, this year he won't have to wait his turn and just might lead the league in sacks! Write that down and Nolan is gonna make this D a top eight D. He has more weapons here than he did in Denver. So when you mention the schedule and murderr's row I laugh at your Sunday article, your perception is as if the sky is falling humors me and lights a panic button to your readers save for me. First games agaisnt Buffalo, Minnesota, NYJ and the Patsies are all winable. We swept the Jets last year not sure if you remember, we split the Pasties, who are still in a transition mode and far revmoved from their championship years, and buffalo well should we pencil that in? minnesota at thier confines will be tough but a good test early on. We have the Jets and Patsies at home under the lights and thats gonna be exciting! Both those teams are gonna have to account for the BEAST! And Dansby and co, but what is gonna make the defense go is the hybrid 3-4 defense of Mike Nolan! 3-1 out the gate! Usain Bolt fast maybe at least for the Dolphins, it may be, who have had a recent history of starting slow. GoDolphins! 4lifeout!

Ike Alma Francis Wow lost 20lbs and now looks like a baller. Actually he played basketball as a walk on in Hawaii and June Jones, then the head coach of the football team spotted Francis, and "said hey you need to try out for our team." Jones took one look at his size and athleticism and said man lets suite him up... Not sure how much experienced he had playing football before that, but you get the sense that this guy may have been playing out of position and above his weight and lost it and now runs faster and looks good playing the strong side. Wow could be another diamond in the ruff. And maybe another feather in the Trifecta's cap! Lets hope so! GoDolphins! 4life out!

Armando I have to disagree with your assumtion that a 50-50 spit in practice versus O and D leads to a 8-8 team. specially when you put a good product out on the field. You think Michael Irvin completely dominated Neon Dion Sanders? Or vice verse? Each won battles out on the practice field and usally dominated on game day. You want to see a db like Sean Smith come back the next day and make plays and learn from his mistakes. He's playing against a reciever like no other, a all pro who will have his way on game day. If your offense is dominating practice all the time then your defense is gonna get torched on game day. The NFL will and usally figure teams weakeness out wheather its the O or D, you want them sharp and winning their fare share in practice. If you have the weapons on both sides of the ball which we do, then you want good competition, so which ever side of ball, if dominated that they come back the next play or next day and atone for their loss and win some battles.
