Morning Ticker: Kroenke buys more Arsenal shares, Hunt picks Germany over England and more
Colorado Rapids owner Stan Kroenke edged closer to a potential takeover of English power Arsenal after buying another batch of shares. Kroenke now owns about 29.6 percent of Arsenal's shares, just three percentage points below the amount that would obligate him to launch a formal takeover bid....
Agrred! Also applies to Rob Stone, Alexi Lalas and Julie Foudy.
Soehn out as D.C. United head coach
Tom Soehn will not be back as head coach of D.C. United after removing his name from consideration to be retained upon the conclusion of his current contract at the end of the calendar year. D.C. United failed to make the playoffs for a second straight season, but it did enjoy success under S...
I agree. Red Bull do not screw this up.
Have to give Richie a chance.

FIRE THE COACH ASAP!
FIRE THE COACH ASAP!
Need to salvage the season before it is too late.
Give Richie Williams the job. He did a good job the 1st time he was an interim coach. He deserves a shot at full time coaching.
Osorio has no idea of what he is doing. He changes the lineup too much. You could see that the first half lineup was not on the same page.
Also, get read of Richards. He play does nothing but frastrade me. Makes the wrong decision 9-1/2 out of 10 times.
Red Bulls suffer late-game meltdown (again)

Chase,
You maybe correct.
Unconfirmed reports suggest that maybe the case. An arrangement, of course, that FIFA does not allow, such as Tevez and Jo.

Freddy Montero, if he even makes it to the end of the season without being sold somewhere else, will not be around after this season. That is a shame, but I will enjoy watching his highlights while he is here.

Honey Boehme,
Freddy does not belong to Seattle. He is here on loan from his Columbian team.

His he allowed to play after week 4 or does his suspension start back up once he signs with a team?
Posted by: Frank | March 27, 2009 at 12:43 PM
..........................................
Once he is signed by an MLS team, then he must serve the four game suspension. That means that if he does not and signs with a European team he would still need to serve the four game suspension whenever if ever he returns to MLS.
Parke leaves Seattle, will train with Vancouver as Sounders shop his rights

It may only be week two, but we need a home victory. Need to be winning the home games when we badly suck on the road. 1-1 is a lot better than 0-2 when the next two games are at Chicago and Houston. That is a potential start of 0-4. Osorio needs to start playing players in their possitions.
Can't get any worse.
Red Bulls Practice Report
The New York Red Bulls trained on a cold and dreary day in Montclair on Thursday, one week and 3,000 miles removed from last week's embarrassing 3-0 debacle against Seattle. While memories of that season-opening loss still linger, the Red Bulls don't have much time to dwell. New England is c...
The lineup may not be strong, but I prefer the 4-4-2. I am not a fan of a formation with one striker. The problem with this franchise has always been that they play too much long ball. They never dominate possession. Can't string more than two passes. Also, signing players that are never ready to be in the lineup when the season starts, especially since Osorio has been in charge.

Are they going to have football lines on the field for MLS Cup? That would be horrible.
Posted by: A.S. | March 11, 2009 at 02:44 PM
.........................................
IT WOULD BE AN EMBARASSMENT!!!!
I don't know, but it does not look like that the football lines at Qwest Field are permanetely painted on the turf as they are at Giants Stadium. Where they basically spray paint over them and can still see the outline. So, I don't see why they would not remove them for the game.
2009 MLS Cup awarded to Seattle
The city of Seattle will play host to the first MLS game of the season and the last. Major League Soccer has awarded the 2009 MLS Cup to Seattle, which will see its expansion team, Seattle Sounders FC, open play on March 19th against the New York Red Bulls. The 14th playing of the MLS Cup wi...

I guess it would be nice to have a team in St Louis, (being that they have a great soccer history), but I don't have a problem with Portland. The USL team has a good fan base. Of course I would not feel that way if I leaved in St Louis.
MLS Expansion: Decision Day in Portland

Am I the only one who's wondering if the league is expanding too quickly?
Posted by: Anthony | March 11, 2009 at 10:10 AM
...........................................
No Anthony, you are not the only one. I feel they should put a freeze on expansion after teams 17 & 18 are added. Freeze it for at least 7-10 years. They should not expand to more than 20 teams. I don't think the league can survive with 30 teams like the other American Leagues. Case in point the old NASL.

UEFA Champions League: Liverpool romps, Chelsea rolls
This score just in: England 2, Rest of Europe 0. That was the damage after Liverpool and Chelsea both won high-profile Round of 16 match-ups on Tuesday. Liverpool shredded Real Madrid, 4-0, while Chelsea defeated a tough but outplayed Juventus side. Liverpool tore Real Madrid to shreds at An...

European Goal of the Week: Eduardo's volley
There were plenty of goals scored this past weekend, but few had more special meaning than Eduardo's brilliant side-footed volley in Arsenal's FA Cup win against Burnley. Not only is the goal memorable for the amazing skill it takes to hit a side-volley with the outside of the foot, but beca...
