What a great post. This is the stuff you do best. This is really hitting the deep writing, the core. Excellent. Everyone can relate to memories like this. We've all driven down roads from our past and recalled old times. Keep it up!

Very cool cover! I love the old 50s/60s sci-fi book covers. Excellent. I'll be looking forward to the read…

As weird as that song is, here we are, what, 20 some years later talking about it! We can all dance if we want too. BTW, they were Canadian—from Montreal—not British, so you'd need a different accent, eh?

Wow! As a writer, I've been there many times. You sit staring at the blank screen in front of you, like staring down a giant sumo wrestler, and desperately try anything to jump start that useless 3lbs of gray matter sitting in your skull. And you prey to all the gods you can remember the manes of that this is just a bad dream you'll soon wake up from, to find your finished article sitting there. You win the prize for making the most out of nothing. A great column.

Hey, my birthday is coming up—I'm going to ask for one of these. It'll go great next to my digital camera that I can't figure out how to take pictures with!

This is great! What a perfect mix: Family Guy & TNG. I'm looking forward to it. And I live in the USA so I can see it!

Just wanted to say this really hit home. My daughter got into hockey from watching games with me when she was younger. Then she decided she wanted to play and ended up the goalie and only girl on an all guy's team for a few years. Whenever people asked her why she didn't play on a girl's team she'd reply, "They don't play real hockey!" Yeah, she wasn't afraid to get in there and both take it and give it. I must admit though, that seeing your teenage daughter take a slapshot to head is a bit frightening! But you've gotta love it. Hockey brings families together. So how about those Blackhawks this year, they finally found a team again. Yeah, go Hawks!
