Psalm 23:4, "Your rod and Your staff, they comfort me." Would the biblical shepherd's rod and staff be comparable to our weapons of today? :-) Good discussion! I know it's a difficult issue. Thanks!

I am licensed to carry though I never do at church, don't need to. In our state it is legal for churches to permit private carry on campus during services, all times for that matter. We have 84 licensed carriers. We have a person who is head of our campus security. At each service we have specific persons at specific locations around our campus. We have also instructed our entire congregation on what to do in the case of an "active shooter." We have had the head of our State's Security Defense Team, meaning an active duty Lt. Col. in the US Army and his FBI counter part, do a vulnerability assessment of our campus. They have put together an action plan for our church, school, and day care. All our workers have been trained for the event of an active shooter. My thought is, I don't want to ever look into the eyes of a dead child's parents and have to tell them we could do nothing, when we could have prepared to do something.

Just saw the news report of his Sgt being interviewed. He was actually a deserter. Walked away from his unit in a combat zone. I retract what I said yesterday. And men died in the initial recovery effort 5 years ago. Deserter. Not good, not on any level.

Yes, don't know about the 5 others released, but I would think that one American is worth 5 of those others any day.

What is often missed is found in 1 John 3:2, "Dear friends, we are God’s children now, and what we will be has not yet been revealed. We know that when He appears, we will be like Him because we will see Him as He is." I like to explain it like this, "The glorified person in Christ after the resurrection is something God could not have simply created, it is something that Jesus had to die for."

Loved this line! "What people don’t realize is how much religion costs. They think faith is a big electric blanket, when of course it is the cross." And the story did bring back a few memories of Vietnam.

Love that Godless Heathen! Didn't watch the "presentation" Hollywood is filled with true hypocrites. While shouting about women's rights, they make objects out of women. While shouting about peace and anti-war, they glorify violence and slaughter. While pontificating about economic equality they live extravagant and indulgent life styles. And as Tim said, they will do anything to make a buck and a headline. The light in this is that the further they descend into the darkness that is in their souls, the brighter the light of Christ shines through the darkness. Many are waking up.

We got to be there at Passion2013 in Atlanta, 60,000 Christians for 4 days, celebrating. It was a game changer! Have a group going again in a couple of weeks to the one in Houston!

And today yahoo runs a story about GLAAD feeling the effects of the suspension. At the end of the story is this very telling statement: "'Silence is agreement in this case,' he said. 'With such egregious anti-gay and racist comments, those companies that choose to be affiliated with this family need to speak out.'" http://tv.yahoo.com/news/duck-dynasty-fallout-glaad-reeling-biggest-backlash-years-010050637.html "Silence is agreement...' That is a very telling statement about the intent of groups like this. They not only don't want open disagreement, they are wanting to be able to come after those that don't openly speak up in agreement with them.

My Grandfather served in WW1. When I got home from boot camp he insisted I come visit him in my uniform. A powerful memory. He died then while I was in Vietnam. When I got home I went and found his grave in our National Cemetery during a rain storm, in my uniform.

In Isaiah 57:15, our Lord reveals the two places in which He dwells. One is the High and Holy place, and the second .... well I share: "For thus saith the high and lofty One that inhabiteth eternity, whose name is Holy; I dwell in the high and holy place, with him also that is of a contrite and humble spirit, to revive the spirit of the humble, and to revive the heart of the contrite ones." (KJV)

I posted this on the wrong article! Here is where it belonged! Please delete the other! (have never asked to be deleted before) NASA is a major proponent of "Climate Change." Almost makes one consider that it might be a good thing if the "restructuring" included dismantling the Climate Change section of NASA.

As the old Chinese statement for wishing ill on someone goes, "May you live in interesting times." I think we are living in interesting times.

Saeed will be set free, but with no help from man, other than our prayers. God is narrowing the playing field ... and there are many christian posers that will flee or fall by the wayside.

The company that built the website received a "no-bid" contract. Is that not a little strange, to not allow other companies to offer a bid?

Maybe we can get to the place that we fight our wars with robots fighting robots. Or maybe just an army on a video game? Only problem would be trying to figure out what to do with all the humans on the loosing side?

Well, in our church, the fellow would have been noticed in the parking lot by a couple of concealed carry members and probably questioned there. If not, he would have been questioned in our entry lobby by 2 concealed carry members on station there. If allowed to enter the auditorium he would have been noticed by 4 more concealed carry members at their stations. :-) Nobody would be having to be fearful that he would shoot a bunch of people. If he did manage to enter, then pull out a weapon such as a rifle, he would probably not be able to get a single shot off. Just our reality.

People are not robots, and neither are members of our military. We all have a ... soul. To deny that is to deny that we are human ... and to deny any effort ... feeble as it may be ... to minister to the soul and those who do so ... will leave us a 'culture' with no conscience. And, we are close.
