Fear of Success? Failure? Change?
Though I understand, dear reader, how impossible it is to say this without sounding pretentious, I will try nonetheless... I've got talent. Mad skillz, if you will. (see how I quickly used humor there to stifle your inner snort of doubt?) ((see how I did it again?)) (((ok, you get... Continue reading

Awesome story and I'm officially jealous of your first draft quality...
Upon reflection, I'd maybe title it "Monster in My Room" so it has a kind of a double meaning at the end.
Do I smell an anthology coming?
Flash Fiction: The Monster In My Closet
About two hours ago, I thought to myself, "'There's a monster in my closet' would be a neat way to start out one of those scary short stories I loved to read when I was in middle school." I wrote it down, then wrote a little more and a little more. Right around the time I realized I had no idea ...
Got stalk?
Just realized entire TypePad existance has been centered around WWdN: In Exile... stalk much? I really need to find some other people to bother... I wonder if Fillion has a blog? P.S. Yes, I realize I'm talking to nobody and still procrastinating. Continue reading

writing...
Writing, writing, writing. Just not the end of ACT II that I should be focused on. Hell, the fact I'm posting here for the first time should be evidence enough that I'm procrastinating. If I don't delete twitter, facebook, and everything else, I'll never get through this draft by the... Continue reading

Goals, schmoals... sometimes a day of writing is just a day of writing, even if it is narrative meta-garbage. Not that your post is meta-garbage... meh, you know what I mean.
Besides, aren't you supposed to be relaxing a bit?
I tell you though, it's a damn shame that taking the proverbial knife to our favorite scenes never gets easier...
Writing about writing so I can get back to writing because today I'm having a hard time writing
I'm having a great time writing this thing that I can't get too specific about, but I'm severely blocked on today's work, so I thought I'd talk about writing instead of writing, in the hopes that it shakes up my brain and lets me get back to writing. When I write fiction, the first thing I do is...
Feels like the old "it's not you, it's me" speech.
Well, let me tell you something, you clown-shirt wearing, Enterprise driving, dice rolling, t-shirt designing, voice acting, Axis of Anarchy leading, convention paneling, RFB ignoring, King's fan... IT IS me! I know damn well it's me! It's always been me!
Seriously though, I can't imagine the huge responsibility this blog must be for you. In your position, I'd probably feel guilty every day that I didn’t post. If that's the case... all I can say is, don’t. Your fans aren’t stupid. We’re aware of the effort it takes and the time you put in to keep yourself available to us.
You’re not a dick, so trust your instincts and trust in us a little. If life in general has got you too busy to blog, or even tweet for that matter, then so be it. That’s a good thing in my book and honestly, we’ll be here for the next one… whether it’s tomorrow, in a few days, a week, a month, or even come Christmas. (I swear you had better check in for the holidays.) Hell, the busier you are means the more shit you crank out, which in turn means it’s easier for me to find quality RL distractions.
However, if you’re still wrestling with guilt, an autograph may help suplex it into submission and clear you in my book… just saying. *cough*
Of course, I suppose I could be waaaaaay off base with all this… in which case I’ve proven that at least some of your fans are in fact, quite stupid.
this post is titled Laika for some reason
When I started my blog almost ten years ago, I made a dedicated effort to write something new every day. I figured that it was good practice for me as a level zero writer, and I also knew that the only way to keep readers engaged was by providing new content all the time. As the years rolled by,...
The Cat is away...
Okay, he's officially gone for the week. Let's light this place up!
Happy New Year. I'm on a boat.
I'm going to be on JoCo Cruise Crazy until January 8. I thought it was kind of important to stay connected, keep Twittering and blogging and Internetting while I was on a boat, but after much deliberation, decided that I will not be purchasing Holland America's Yes, We Use The Whole Fist int...
I think Leverage works so well because of cast chemistry. The characters all feel so full that they don't seem written. The real fun comes from the way they all interact with one another. It's like a RL family unit, where you have all these vastly different personalities stuck together and no matter how much they bicker, argue, or fight, one can sense that deep down, they would do anything for one another, and not because they’re written that way, but because that’s just who they are. To have that depth of character and camaraderie in a show is priceless.
Chaos has only been in a couple episodes, but what makes him so enjoyable is that he is a perfect fit for the show's dynamic. He's an equal, not a mark. That’s why, at the end of the day, Chaos doesn't feel like a villain-of-the-week. He feels realer than that, like he's part of the Leverage world, much like Mark Sheppard's Jim Sterling.
Bringing Chaos back is an absolute must. If I were a betting man, which I am, I'd say when Chaos returns, a team up with Hardison and the rest of the team would equal comic gold. Mark my words... Team. Up. It’ll happen.
Various thoughts on The Ho Ho Ho Job
First things first: during tonight's webchat at TNT.tv, I wore a pretty awesome T-shirt. It's in this picture, if you can tear your eyes away from Beth for a second to look at it. It would be entirely understandable if you missed it the first time around. Anyway, during the chat, a lot of people...
Lots of great stuff mentioned already. I'm surprised nobody brought up The Dark Knight Returns or The Dark Knight Strikes Again.
How about Kingdom Come, All Star Superman, or All Star Batman and Robin the Boy Wonder? They always make it to the top of my DC list.
As for Marvel, Thunderbolts has been a consistent pleaser for me. It also appears The Amazing Spider-Man has finally upped its game and turned a corner with its latest arc, Big Time. It's the Spidey I remember! How I've missed him so...
Certainly there must be a little love left for Hellboy too?
Unfortunately, my wallet has caught on to the fact most books are now 3.99 and the little bastard has forced me to curb my exploring and stick to familiar titles. :(
ZAP! POW! OOFF! ZOK! BIFF! A post about comics and TPBs.
A couple times a year, I have to go through all the comics and trades in my office and put them into long boxes that live in the attic. When I do this, I always end up pulling out a few trades that I want to read again, so now you know what I've spent most of my discretionary (note that I didn't...
Lions trump vehicles, no question.
That's like asking if it's better now that Greedo shoots first...
whenever i type "lions," i have to make sure i haven't accidentally typed "loins"
A friend of mine showed me the most awesome picture of a little Voltron toy I think I've ever seen. It had lions for hands. This bounced around in my head for a moment, and I shared my great wisdom with Twitter, thusly: Voltron with Lions > Voltron with vehicles. THIS IS SCIENCE AND YOU CAN'T ...
