Yeah all that stuff is pretty shady and full of back room Russian political deals and favors and collusion. The super corrupt Mayor of Moscow (Luzhkov) who was fired by President Medvedev last year had a lot to do with it. Technically the way they became Russian citizens was completely against the law, but once they became citizens there are laws that protect their citizenship no matter if it was fraudulently obtained. The crazy thing about that contract is CSKA plays in an arena that holds less than 6K people and the most expensive tickets are 500 RUB (right now 27.97 RUB = 1 USD) but I'd say tickets average out to about 175-200 RUB. That is what happens when you are owned by natural gas billionaires. CSKA has even used that money to convince 2 Americans (John Holden and Becky Hammon) to become Russian citizens to play for the Russian national team. I don't mind since I support all of the Army Clubs (there are several CSKA/SKA teams in various sports across Russia and fans are all pretty united) Nenad's game is perfect for the CSKA and Russian style of play. When I was a kid in the early 90s I remember when he was a starter, watching the games on Sports Channel I would always say his name really loud during the starting lineups much to the annoyance of my parents.

Also way to not respond to the criticism of the bone head mistake ESPN (and TNT) has been making for 3 seasons now. Calling Doc Rivers 2007-2008 NBA Coach of the Year. Unless there is some other Coach of the Year award out there I am unaware of - that title belongs to Byron Scott. Not knowing who Mike is - the voice of the Boston Celtics for over 30 years and a fond memory of my childhood, gives you zero and I mean zero legs to stand on to say any thing about "Celtics announcers" He is and his level headedness that compliments Tommy and his over the topness is as much a part of that Duo as anything. If you ever actually listened to a Celtics broadcast with Mike and Tommy you would know how well they compliment each other. In closing: Stick to talking about your area of expertise, police your own first, once that is cleaned up feel free to give all the uninformed opinions you want. You are more qualified to give your opinion on pressed cubans that C's announcers.

Before anyone at ESPN talks negatively about any announcing team they should look at their own announcers first. I can not stand to listen to Mark Jackson and Jeff Van Gundy. They are terrible. Also ESPN continuously says Doc Rivers was 2007-08 Coach of the Year. That was Byron Scott. Every time they display this I send them an email telling them it is incorrect. They always go unanswered. I'm pretty sure Tommy can tell you that Doc did not win that award in 07-08.

With all the pork in TARP and the like, I'm sure a few K could be found to build a recognized NATIONAL HERO a statue.

I've heard way worse by players both on TV and in person, Celtics and non Celtics alike. Pretty sure I heard one of the early 2000's C's tell Vladamir Radmanovic or some other Balkans player to get off the court and go back to digging mass graves. So yeah way worse stuff gets said, has been said, and will be said. Doesn't make it right but holy crap, man up and be a man and don't whine over the internet about it like some Laker's fan posting on a Celtics blog.

Yeah, I agree about the TOs, I'm just thinking about last couple of seasons where there would be high turnovers combined with 60% shooting from the line and the game would be lost by 7 or something. Just a great effort all around.
