oh speaking of Wet Rafa, I know a certain fab chiquita who has a pair of signed undies for her very own...I offered my second pair to my son to actually wear and he said "are you crazy?" I replied, "If you had a signed von Persie jersey would you wear it?" He said, "HELL NO."
I guess I don't get this autograph thing.
FD 2011 Year in Review: February
February always seems like dead month, right? I mean, everyone's still trying to recover from the sleep deprivation of the Aussie Open, and the tournaments are in the Middle East, where we're forced to watch the best tennis players in the world play in front of near-empty stadiums. BUT. There wa...
ZOMG! FD is back! I'm so happy C! It must be fun to let your fingertips rip over the keys without having to 'check' yourself, no?
Happy Christmas to you and safe travels to OZ. I hope you can do some livechats from the AO. They are the best! xoxo

It just occurred to me that the journos that were whining about "bloggers" with press passes are looking pretty stupid right now. hee.
Programming Alert: Major Label Debut.
And if I made a fool, if I made a fool, if I made a fool On the road, there's always this And if I'm sewn into submission I can still come home to this Man. The world is weird. And sometimes, it can surprise you. I've been hired by SI.com as a contributing blogger. This post has been, oddl...

Cnote, Such exciting news -- and mad props to SI for recognizing your talent. You have a unique voice (irreverant, opinionated, bawdy and super smart) that makes following tennis with you so much fun. And most of all, your genuine love of the players (well, most of them) is contagious. I just hope the suits don't have any ideas about reigning in your outrageousness too much.
So you've made it to the show - and it is so well deserved! Can't wait to see you in New York. Does this mean you will be moving here? *hopes*

I want that baby! Cnote, who is she???

Dare you to ruin it, Team USA. A round up of last week's results, courtesy of TSF. Bruce Jenkins argues that A-Rod was screwed no matter what. In case you missed it: Delpo threw his shoes. But he also played with the ball kids. Gools is gorgeous. But she's also NOT. Justin Gimelstob is a d...
I love twitter and my Cnote withdrawal would have been fierce if she hadn't been tweeting. The live blog from Paris was awesome too. I've never cared to visit Paris and love that you and I are simpatico on that city. I know I wouldn't do well there.
So glad you're back and had a great time. Can't wait to hear about all the highs and lows.
Smooth Move, Ex-Lax.
I have lots to say. I mean, obvs, right? I spent two fucking months living out of a suitcase, jumping from hostel to hostel, throwing up in random bathrooms throughout The Continent (caps=respect), getting rescued from a en fuego train in the Swiss Alps, and generally having the time of my l...
I love that she wears skimpy bikinis too. She does rock that booty. However, I'm not crazy about the smushed up boobs. I, personally, hate that look. Maybe guys and gays won't agree with me.
Baby Got Back.
And front, actually. CAN WE JUST TALK ABOUT SERENA'S ASS FOR A SECOND. First of all, I was at a bar watching the ESPYs on a tiny fuzzed out TV screen and totally recognized Serena from her backside. I have witnesses. It was pretty cool. Second, like whoa. I bow down, girl. There's a rea...
What a great attitude she has! I hope she beats this and comes back soon! She's only 22. She'll lick this and come back better than ever.
Best wishes, Alisa
Sucks To Be You, Cancer.
If you follow Kleybs at all (and really, don't we all? She's one of the most dangerous of floaters at any tournament), you know that she's had to withdraw from a number of tournaments this Spring and Summer, including Roland Garros and Wimbledon. Well today's her 22nd birthday, and she took the...
that is so awesome. SHE is so beautiful. *goosebumps* Yeah, hope the wta gets a new one on the air ASAP.
Pete's post on the women's final is excellent. worth a read. I think you'll like the sentiment.
You're Gonna Need A New Commercial.
oh and adding to the mental fatigue is having to deal with the french crowds who want you to lose.
Phew!
Aaaaaaaaaaand.....unclench. If you are attending a Slam and you want bang for your buck, be sure to settle in for any first round match wherein John Isner is scheduled to play. You will not be sorry. The big dude brings the dramz whether he likes it or not. Not only is he "the longest mat...
totally agree with Beatriz about the mental fatigue. I mean, right now Nole owns Rafa and I don't think Rafa is too happy about. He runs over to Nole and hugs him at IW and by the time they were shaking hands at the net in Rome? No huggies.
I want a Rafa/Nole final and I want Rafa to win.
Phew!

Josh took off? oh sadness! I know you've had a horrid couple of days but I'm most upset about Josh...I hope he's okay ;)
Required Reading.
In case you haven't heard, I've had quite the last 20 hours. Josh decided to jump out of my backpack to stay in Rome (E tu, Josh?), I boarded my train to Milan walletless, my train from Milan to Zurich literally caught on fire and we had to get evacuated in the Alps (I got to ride a fire truck ...
Great write up on Madrid, Cnote. Thanks. Sounds like a fabulous city. Was DonkeyGrooming with you? *hugs* donkeygrooming.
"You have to believe we are magic..."
Welcome to Madrid. Where the people are pretty and the collars are popped. I've never been to Spain. To be honest, I had no desire to ever go to Spain. I don't speak the language, I don't know that much about the country, and Spanish, as a language, has always been associated with Mexico. B...
You think the stringer had a defective batch of strings? How is it possible to break 9 strings in a match? Because if the string isn't defective, then it's one lousy string!
Gold Dust Woman.
It's not clay. It's magic dust. And omigosh that kit looks like a hospital gown. Sam came back from a set down to beat a string-breaking Bepa 26 63 76(3), to score her biggest win of the year, first win over a top 10 player of the year, and first semifinal of the year. It also just happened...
I totally fell in love with Tipsy watching this. Spot on impersonation of Nole. Comedy gold. I wonder if there are any other players he could do? I mean imitate.
The Sincerest Form of Flattery.
The coke-habit-sniffing was an inspired choice, Janko.
WOW. What a great weekend. Ajde Serbia! Hope all the warm and fuzzies spill over and Ana and JJ can be friends again.
Drama Queens.
They may not be best friends, they may not be great tennis players all of the time, and they may have disagreements from time to time. But after this weekend they both share one unbreakable bond: Daniela Hantuchova hates them both equally.* In what was hands-down the most ridiculously dra...
I like Andy's fro. And I hate the French crowds since I hate booing in general. I'm still pissed at them for booing Rafa twice. Once when he retired at the french masters and then when he walked off court after losing to Soderling. So, yeah, I don't like French crowds.
Laissez Faire
Oh, France. Ye of banned burqas, a lazy workforce, and a history of military failure. I mean, don't get me wrong, I'll eat your baguettes, cheese, and pastries, but come on mes amis, sometimes you make it so damn easy. Your boy Gilles rolled his ankle today against some pasty, fro-haired, se...
that's what I was thinking. "Where's my $$$?"
You're Welcome, Estoril.
"Shoo! Shoo!" Seriously, I give up. I've tried to read all the articles about the Fernando/Barcelona thing and I really don't get what the issue is. Fernando popped off earlier this month saying that he wasn't going to play Barcelona because he didn't see his name on the entry list and thus...
I think Barcelona means alot to him. He considers it his home tournament and he's won 5 times. I'm glad he's playing since he likes it there. He's nothing if not loyal. I'm hoping he drops Madrid but it's a mandatory and it's in Spain. So that leaves Rome? What happens if a player w/d's due to injury? He'd still be sacrificing 1000 pts. right? He said in his post MC presser that this time of year - through Wimby - is his crunch time. Hope he can manage it all without burning out.
The Master of Monte Carlo.
It's kind of like being the Count of Monte Cristo. But with fewer sandwiches. Something tells me that with Rafa, the seventh one feels just as good as the first one. A day after dropping a set to a cortisoned Andy Murray (the first set he's dropped on clay in over a year, I believe), Rafa ...
Safe trip, Cnote. And thanks for all the Miami coverage. Looking forward to your wrap up when you have the time.
I was also surprised to see Rafa so tired but who knows? Maybe he didn't get adequate rest. Happy for Nole that he won the IW/Miami double.
This Guy.
Hey guys, I'm running off to the airport to hop on a last-minute flight to Tokyo to visit my sister. Well, really, it doubles as a family visit and a scouting trip on behalf of Kim Clijsters to see if it's safe. I have thoughts on this epic match (duhr!) but still jotting down. In the meant...
I keep reading that moniker as Exposababe. It's fitting.

So Petko's blowing up. We all know this. Yesterday she got the Pete Bodo treatment. Now, I know what a lot of you are thinking, but surprisingly, no, he did not describe her as being "strong like a Munich beer wench." I know. I was shocked, too. It was actually a very nice, positive take ...
Whoa nelly, dramiami in miami!!! Nice sleuthing Cnote!
Tara B. said it all for me. Pete had a bad day. I worry that he's a little jaded or overextended or both. But what he's done for bloggers in getting them credentialed at tournies has been huge. And if it wasn't for his tennisworld blog, I never would have hopped on a plane and gone out to IW last year and again this year. Jesus, I went to the WTF's in London! I've plowed thousands of bucks into the 'tennis economy' as a direct result of reading TW and Forty Deuce.
So all those TD's out there should be rolling out the red carpet for you Courtney. Keep up the great work.

Courtney Note - Voice of Reason
Well said. This could be nothing. All this catastrophizing isn't going to help anyone. Is Andy planning on playing any of the clay tournies before RG?
Pass the Salt and Pepper.
Team Murray just got a little less sexy. Andy said he would go home and think about his coaching sitch. Looks like that tiny brain under the big fro did some noodling came to the conclusion that it's time to part ways with Alex Corretja. Personally, as an Andy fan, I can't tell you if that'...
these two are so totally adorable I can't even stand it.
Ana Ivanovic Gets Pissed: A Compendium.
Ana had a successful day at the office but a rough day with the umpires. Her singles match was riddled with questionable calls and her doubles match saw Ivanorazzi get broken in the second set on an overrule from the chair. Ana was...not pleased. But as Petko's facial expressions show, a pi...
