I love how you layered the tiny bits of patterned paper for the date and journaling! And LOVE that camera stamp!!! Great layout - I can see this class truly suits you well.
I Love My Cameras
Both kids were busy today on their own, so I had time to watch Shimelle's video and then to create. Two posts in one day, after days of not being here at all! (Scroll down for the Pass the Book post.) The layout design was really inspired by several layouts on the video rather than today's pro...
Love the way you pulled inspiration from the book! I'm marking some of these to copy the ideas... suddenly feeling a strong urge to create cards!!
Pass the Book
It’s been very busy here, and I have lots to share, but first I want to send on the next installment of Pass the Book. Melissa sent it on to me last month, and it’s definitely time to send it on its way. You can read more about the Pass the Book project here. I have thoroughly enjoyed Sharing Y...
Thanks for the info Kayla! Have passed it on to DH, who I know was considering a new one for our photo storage.
Thinking of a New EHD for Christmas?
Now might just be a better time to snag it than later. I received a press release this morning from Western Digital detailing how the flooding in Thailand is going to impact their ability to produce hard drives to meet the demands. Long story short: they're thinking they won't be able to ma...
How fun that you can share your exercise goals with your son! Good luck on your challenge.
OLW Blog hop
One little word - Challenge Joining in on the fun and inspiration of the One little word blog hop was a CHALLENGE in itself for me this month. It seems I just get to the previous months projects and a new month has begun. But alas I will not lose faith and I will continue on this journey as muc...
Your self-portraits are so beautiful. Your album is really coming along great! It is going to be wonderful at the end of the year to see how you have embraced yourself!
One Little Word Blog Hop || March
One Little Word | Embrace [who I am] One little word can have a big impact on your life. A journey shared. A glimpse of One Little Word 2011. A glimpse of Jan - March. (Note: on the 2 up photo pages the top photo is OLW Captured and the bottom photo is my 52 Week Project self portraits) ...
It's awesome that you are doing what you set out to do - your March page is beautiful!
April OLW Blog Hop
So, a great big welcome to all visitors today...the new and the faithful! Today, I am a participant in the April Blog Hop for fellow students of the One Little Word online class instructed by Ali Edwards at Big Picture Classes. Each month, we are given an assignment that has something to...
Awesome post! I know I have issues with focusing on one thing at a time as well - I'm easily tempted by new classes and challenges before finishing old ones. Good for you for sticking to a plan last month!
One Little Word April Blog Hop - No foolin'!
You can join in the "One Little Word" class experience all year long - just CLICK HERE Please scroll down to see a complete list of blog participants and where you are in the progression. Simple, simple truth, I know, but at the same time kind of profound. At least I thought so when I...
Love what you did with the center photo!
One Little Word Blog Hop today!
Wecome to my blog and to the One Little Word Blog Hop! I trust you've got your feet up (in spirit, if not literally!) and have grabbed your beverage of choice and are having a fun ride! I'd like to invite you back to "my house" any time! You'll find a complete list of hop participants at the ...
I have a folder in Outlook titled "Warm Fuzzies" where I drop emails that fit the encouragement box criteria. But I often forget it is there. Now you have me thinking that something more tangible might be more usefull!
Wellness Wednesday: Encouragement Box
In mid-January, once all of the frantic idea-a-minute posts were read through and I sifted the do-able from the rest, I found one entry from the thoughtful and inspiring Jamie Ridler that didn't just speak to me, it shouted (nicely, of course) and I found it irresistible. I knew it would be im...
Focus was almost my word for this year - until Happy picked me. I hope you fully enjoy this year of focus - love all the work you did with the prompt cards!
One Little Word BlogHop today!
Welcome to my blog! This feels kind of like when someone new is coming to my house and I want to get it all spic and span so they can see how it's supposed to look. (By the way, that IS how I get most of my cleaning accomplished - invite company over!) Can you relate? Anyway, I'm glad you're her...
Kudos to Chloe for her generous contribution! And that new style is adorable.
Wellness Wednesday: 9.5" of Blonde Donated
Years ago my husband, Louis, at 36, discovered he had cancer. It was a terrifying time. Long story very short, he (we) survived a grapefruit sized malignant tumour and life carried on. A life in which we are mindful and thankful. A life which included the birth of two more kids! I have often con...
You are definitely a little further along than we are - leaves are still shedding here. But that could change in a day!
Inside and Outside: WOYW Wednesday
Welcome to my workdesk and desktop today! The inside bit started like this ... As I continue to clear out the weight of years past, I am having to make some firm decisions about those things to which I say 'thank-you and goodbye', and those which remain and in which form. After much hesitatio...
Seems to me you just got home from California! You don't sit still long do you???
Whirlwind
These past ten days at home have been a whirlwind of activity. I've had four meetings for my volunteer commitments, lots of projects to complete for Scrap-Mart and Christmas, as well as going to a musical revue at our local theater, playing with our bridge group, entertaining, and going out to d...
What a sweet photo of Ava & Claire!
Official Welcome
In August we welcomed the newest member of our clan: Baby Ava who joined my step sister and her husband after a (thankfully) drama-free nine months. Over the weekend the girls - I'm the eldest of five daughters - got together with aunts and daughters and a few close friends and family to officia...

Wowser Karen - that's a lot of tiny pieces to put together! Gorgeous card - hope MIL is able to recover quickly and without incident.
Take Care
My mother-in-law had her hip replaced on Monday. She's doing quite well, and moved from the hospital to rehab yesterday. Tracy's been going up to "coach" her during her morning therapy sessions, and I wanted to send a cheery card with him today. I first saw this Unity "itty bitty" stamp at CHA t...
How long have you been under construction Alexa? I know it's been the entire time I've been following your blog, but just curious. Our six week project actually took a full four months. But that was three years ago and I'm definitely happy to not have a crew here!
Layout is gorgeous & so is the youngster!
4 on Friday (14)
Just a bit of fun, sun and colour today. Up here in the grey, blustery world outside and the grey, frustratingly unfinished inside, this week's 4 on Friday celebrates the quirky, the relaxed and the d'you-know-so-what? feeling of a recent holiday in the west of Ireland... As we face yet more d...
Great adaptation on the challenge Karen - your version is so serene.
CASE 14
I've been following along with this challenge site for a few weeks now, but this is the first time I've played along. Here's the card to case by Heather Pulvirenti: I loved the ruffled ribbons along the bottom, and stayed with the general orientation and layout of her card, but used one of my ...
Oh Alexa! I love it - being the aspiring minimalist that I am. I only WISH my workdesk could look that clean and uncluttered!
WOYW Wednesday
Pardon? said Himself. What does that stand for? Wring Out Your Washing? Wipe Over Your Worktops? Whingeing Over Your Weetabix? Yes, well, whingeing on Wednesdays is not unknown in this house. However, Julia started it over here, the What's On Your Workdesk Wednesday. And on mine today? Well, he...
I couldn't have worded it better in what I wish for as I age - grace, patience, kindness, love, humor, good health... yeah, I want it all! I wish for you that you get it all as well.
I am curious why you know you are about to be overwhelmed creatively?
Wishcasting Wednesday: Growing Older
Image found here. How do you wish to grow older? Great timing for this question as I have been thinking a lot lately about age. How much the process of aging and (ostensibly) growing up has taught me about me and about those around me. I am always a work in progress: there are a few things I'd...
these are fantastic choices Sharyn! I'm still undecided what I'm going to do and feeling stressed. Welcome to JYC - you'll LOVE it!
green + cream
So excited to have my papers and color scheme for my December album... Last year I used red and kraft; and I really liked how focusing my colors made the album feel cohesive. So this year I'm going with green and cream. Left to right: - Basic Grey jovial - nordic - Making Memories noel - gr...
"Sugar is nothing but little satanic crystals..." I've always thought sugar was evil - you confirmed it!
Love this post Cathy - and the humor you inject into something painful - being real about where we are on this journey helps connect us all.
I totally echo the "lecture" from Lynn and all the lovely comments that mentioned that (at least part of) your weight gain is muscle from strength training. And whenever you are converting fat to muscle - that is something to celebrate!
Tales from the Scale: The WTF (where's the fries?) Edition
Did you know that if you want to look thinner in pictures, you need to be looking up? Did you also know that despite the unbridled joy illustrated in the photo above (where indeed I am looking up) I'm really not feeling too hot about the scale this month? Disclaimer: I am not in the best of mo...
I have a similar pile to attend to myself... but where am I... buried in my Google Reader!
A little off track ...
My plan this morning was to deal with this: I left to take Claire and Cole to school with instruction for Chloe and Caden to clear every surface in the house and move it onto the kitchen island. I live in a land of PILES. Drives me crazy but it's a thing I've been doing forever and have no pla...
Hey Sharyn! Part of the fun for me is sharing what I am doing with other people taking the same class. A LOT of my bloggy friends do the Journal Your Christmas class with Shimelle - and like you said, you only pay that fee once - this will be my third year participating in that one. I will also be enrolling in Picture the Holidays. I've found Tracey's prompts to be great at getting me to see my world in new and different ways and am really looking forward to seeing what she has to offer, especially since I've already done a lot of Shimelle's prompts. Both of my previous albums incorporate ideas from at least three different ongoing classes, including some of Ali's design ideas.
So tell your practical side to hush up and allow your creative side to join in the fun and camraderie!
christmas classes
Christmas is still on my mind. Early last week, I was dreaming about Christmas decorations. Well, I just couldn't resist temptation. So yesterday, I enjoyed a peppermint mocha from Starbucks and this went up... Too early for most people, but feels perfect to me :) The other holiday item I'...
Alexa - this is just TOO funny! I absolutely love your writing and the photoless page. Great job!
White space - 4 on Friday (13)
Heard of Before and After magazine? Designing without photos, using only text, was the challenge offered recently to John McWade, the magazine's founder and designer. It piqued my interest. Shimelle's current class focuses on journalling, and I've been pondering - like you have, perhaps, at som...
