Thanks for sharing the recipe. I made it for dinner tonight and it's delicious!
Good timing too. Turned out my husband got stuck at work until late, and this should be easy to keep warm and yummy until he gets home. If I don't eat the whole pot first.
Soup. Black Bean. Hot.
"What are you making?" Anne asked. I looked up from the cutting board, and put the knife down so I wouldn't somehow cut my hand off when I wasn't looking (yes, I am that clumsy). "Black bean soup," I said. "Is it from a recipe, or are you winging it?" "I've made so many different recipes from so...
I Am Not a Hezwick
From my journal: 28 July 01 Somebody wanted to send a comic strip to Gigi in Mongolia. This girl had a cat named Holly Fitzgerald. There was a T-shirt featuring a shape-changing beaver/rodent/deer thingie named Daddy Billy. He was giving advice to his son: "Push!" His son, Patalale, just looked... Continue reading

Danny
From my journal: 25 July 01 I was at work, and the phone rang. It was for "Danny". We didn't have an employee named that, but I remembered we had interviewed a guy named Danny. I asked my boss and he didn't know. I went to look, and there he... Continue reading

Mrs. Belly
From my journal: 8 July 01 I was in a school. I had a class there, but I was there after house, and Michael Jordan was practicing his typewriting in the hall. I had lunch with Brad1. He was suspicious. I went into my classroom and climbed into bed. The... Continue reading

I Smell Tomatoes
From my journal: 1 July 01 I wanted to go bowling, and I didn't have anyone to go with. I was at work and I called a number and left a message. I told my boss that my boyfriend was going to call. Later, her said, "Oh, your boyfriend's on... Continue reading

Waiting for the Train
From my journal: 24 June 01 There were too many people in the nursing home who thought they couldn't walk, just because they hadn't--and I picked him up and he just walked into the wall like he couldn't remember. Oh well, there's nowhere to go anyway. I had to ask... Continue reading

Oh, one more thing... WILWILWIL! HAVE YOU SEEN THIS?!
2010: LIVING IN THE FUTURE!!!! A children's book written in the 70's, detailing what the future would be like. I'm sure it's out of print but you can read the whole thing here:

Sorry it's a bit off-topic, but I share your enthusiasm for living in the future. Thought you'd be interested.
PS I would have titled your post, "Is that your phaser, or are you just happy to see me?

This post has nothing to do with its title, but after staring at this for 20 minutes trying to come up with one, I just grabbed the first song title I could find. Thanks, The Damned. Once again, you come through when I need you. We've had a drought in Southern California for so long now, even a ...
Most people use the word slash for a homosexual pairing, and some use it for any pairing. There is no ultimate fanfic authority to determine the right or wrong usage, so you can all stop arguing about it now.
And it's just my opinion, but I am really annoyed by the term femslash, just as I am by the phrase gay and lesbian. To me that sounds like people and women. I'm a gay woman. (OK, I'm bi, but whatever.) I'm not a Lesbian. Lesbos is an island in Greece.

Do your parents live in The Shire? Just kidding. But wow, what a great description!!

It's been raining pretty steadily, very heavy at times, since yesterday afternoon. The weather service says we should expect this to continue for at least a week, but it could go on for up to two weeks. I mention this because it hardly ever happens here, and if people weren't truly in danger fro...
So right about the milk, but don't forget bread! I grew up in Alabama and worked in a grocery store in high school. Every time the weather report called for possibly maybe a small chance of a light dusting of snow, we were overrun by people buying milk and bread. During the Blizzard of '93!!! in which we received a whopping THREE INCHES of snow, the roads were closed statewide. The district manager called and begged me to come to work. I wouldn't drive there (because if the roads are closed, your car insurance won't pay if you have an accident) so he came and picked me up. We had a special shipment of sliced bread, so fresh from the bakery it was STILL WARM. It was insane! People acted as if they might be snowed in for weeks, and for some reason would be forced to survive on nothing but milk and bread. Instead of the more likely outcome, that everything would shut down for a day or so, and then the snow would melt, since winter temperatures in Alabama are typically in the 60s.

Nobody likes clowns. I was in a funhouse once, and a clown smacked me with a rubber bat.

That's exactly what I was thinking! I am great at jerry-rigging things like that, but I'm not sure I'm understanding the design of the basket. Post a photo, Wil! We can help!
From the Vault: a design flaw in the otherwise perfect basket
Last night, I stood in front of the open refrigerator and thought to myself, "You know what would go good with this vegetarian chili? That Oaked Arrogant Bastard!" I reached for it, applying my -3 DEX modifier, like you do. A minute later sent the following text message to Anne: "Hey, we're out ...
OMG, I just re-watched that episode this week! Too funny.
And speaking of your book being available on Kindle, I have a question. I really want a digital copy, but is it better for you if I buy a print copy? And is there a PDF version available? I only ask because I'd rather give you money directly than give Amazon part of it.
screw you, q. coffee is for closers.
I'm editing Memories of the Future, and ... well, this bit from Hide & Q made me laugh: Riker explains that, even though he's pretty much a golden god, he's still the same old lovable Riker they've known for ten episodes, and to show them how totally awesome he is, he's going to give some gifts ...
