Cheeseheads to take Brett Bowl I and other daring NFL Week 4 predictions
Fell short of greatness last week but did not do badly. I was 12-4 straight up for the second consecutive week, putting me at 35-13 for the season -- a lofty .729 percentage. (If you must know, 7-9 against the spread and 22-26 for season but we don't gamble on sports around here, no sir.)...
Lester -- I am upset although hardly surprised. I may actually post some thoughts in the near future. With all my free time now, I was looking forward to three months of live jai-alai. Yes, I will miss it greatly.

Tom -- Bless you for the info on The Boss. Hope everyone had a good week. I certainly did with just 2 wrong going into tonight. (Can't say the same for Fantasy team that got killed by the other guy having the 49ers defense!)

You won't believe who is going to win the next Super Bowl!
Spoilers Warning! If you want to be surprised by the outcome of the 2009 NFL season, stop reading now and go back to staring at your feet and wondering why they are so ugly. However, if you'd rather find out how it will all play out, you are at the right place. As it is written,...
Sean -- I tend to agree with you. IMO, their is a niche for arena ball but the businessmen involved must understand it is only a niche. There will always be players who will compete regardless of the money because competing is always better than ending the dream. If they can financially operate while averaging 8,000 to 10,000 attendance, no reason they can't make it work.

Mike -- I'm starting to worry myself.

Free -- Stupid me. Of course it was the Eagles. As for Steve Smith, he's got to be frustrated. And D. Williams fans aren't happy because he'll be facing 8-man fronts.
Pro Picks: Not a good week to be a fan of the Bucs, Dolphins or Jags, but Pack rolls on
Personal Note No. 1 -- Thanks to Florida Citrus Sports and Pirate's Cove Adventure Golf in Lake Buena Vista for inviting me to Thursday night's Mini Open fundraiser tournament. Great fun and here's two scores you should know -- Mike Bianchi 51, Me 49. Personal Note No. 2 -- You can still ...

Mike -- I'll give you this: You have some of the smartest readers and listeners in the biz. For example, Bamafan up above clearly is a brilliant sports fan! -- Oh, perhaps you can answer this: Why can't you beat a retired senior citizen at miniature golf? Have a nice day.
Open Mike: Sentinel columnist Mike Bianchi's live chat with readers
Welcome everybody to the wildly popular and critically acclaimed inaugural Open Mike chat, where Sentinel sports columnist Mike Bianchi will cleverly answer questions from the millions of readers, Twitter followers and Facebook friends that make up Bianchi Nation. You can email your questi...

Steve and Patnole -- I think Brady is going to be sensational, second only to Aaron Rodgers -- a prime reason why I see those 2 teams in the Super Bowl. I agree that the Pat defense has lost leadership but, so far, the current regime has handled every challenge.
And, Pat, even if it is 11-5, that's still pretty good and going to be enough to win that division.

Chero -- As mentioned earlier, I will be writing a form of my picks column at Thebeatofsports.com -- and they will be having a pro picks contest, too. Check it out.
Did this conversation happen somewhere deep in Minnesota?
-- "Coach, did you want to see me?" -- "Tarvaris! Come in, my man, and call me Brad!" -- "Uh, I'd rather call you coach." -- "Whatever you want! But with camp about to start, I just wanted to make sure that we were on the same page -- and by that I mean that you realize you are my main man!" -- ...
Jasmyne -- I plan on writing my NFL picks column on thebeatofsports.com
As for a picks contest, I do not know if the Sentinel is doing one or not. You should write Tim Stephens at tstephens@orlandosentinel.com to ask.

Sean -- I don't know the Dolphin local TV situation this season but will try to remind folks at the Sentinel that it is always a worthwhile story at this time of year. -- Not writing at football time seems a little odd for me, too, but I hope to be doing a little bit someplace. Check out The Beat of Sports website as I may be doing something there that will be announced soon.

RICK -- really took a cheap shot!
Shame, Rick, shame.

Alas, Bill, you are guilty of the first Vick/dog cheap shot on this blog. But we will forgive you if you show true remorse.

Monday morning criticism of Mike Bianchi, Johnny Miller & almost every great female golfer in the world (plus a shameless radio plug)
First -- the shameless radio plug: From Monday through Friday I will be coming out of the All-Star bullpen in relief of Mike Bianchi on The Beat of Sports, 9 to 11 a.m. on ESPNFlorida 1080. And I assure you that it is NOT TRUE that Bianchi is under FCC investigation. I have no idea how the...

From the man who gave you Lucas Glover in the U.S. Open, here's my Fav Five in the Lunar Open
That's right, who else picked Lucas Glover to win the U.S. Open? Granted, he was one of my Fav Five for that event but he wasn't in YOUR Fav Five. And, incidentally, these are always Tiger-Free picks. What's the point in picking him? And now the Lunar Open, sometimes called the British Open or...
Rome -- While talking animated shows, I must admit something I feel guilty about. I've always loved The Simpsons and think the show is in the TV Hall of Fame -- but it is South Park that I record for that quick 23-minute laugh -- and, to my shame, it's also Reno 911.

Rome -- Nice post as you make some interesting points. And isn't it odd that about the only decent satire in American TV now is in animated form?

Rome -- I was hoping that was sarcasm. I am found of the LPGA but can easily see it being reduced to a "minor" level with fewer tournaments and far smaller purses.
