I don't own a car, but my wife does. It's a 2008 Subaru WRX 5 door. That means it has a hatch back and the back seats fold forward. What a great car! We can go fast and still haul horse feed home. This car does everything. A little bit more than your $20K limit, but not by much.
Challenge--A car for all jobs? Or a car for each job?
An idle chat with some of the Car Lust contributors this morning prompted a question that I thought might be interesting enough to throw out as a challenge to the larger Car Lust audience. That question is: Would you prefer to own one versatile car that you would use in all scenarios, or multipl...
Rented a new Toyota Sienna minivan this summer to haul some of my adult sons around here in FL. Been 20 years since I drove a minivan, the last one being a Ford Aerostar. I was very impressed with the handling, power, and amenities offered in the new minivans. Nice.
Minivan Madness Week--An Introduction
To state the obvious, minivans don't get a lot of respect from car enthusiasts. We all know what the conventional wisdom is: minivans are boring vehicles for boring people living a boring suburban lifestyle; so terminally uncool they contribute to global warming. If you agree with any of that...
It is just my wife and I. When I make rice, I use one cup brown rice and two cups water. Forty minutes later we have rice. And then we have left over rice for the next day. How can a rice cooker help me? Do they make a one cup rice cooker?

Even though I like to cook, I’ve learned that it’s critically important to rely on my small appliances when it comes to speed and ease of preparation. One of my favorite items is my Zojirushi Induction Heat Rice Cooker. I purchased my rice cooker (Model NH-VBC 18) five years ago when we were ...

Everybody's talking about: remote-control zipper sliders for your Aerostitch
In the "What will they come up with next?" category, I've been hearing about the remote control zipper sliders available from Aerostich/Riders Warehouse, that can be installed on your suit. (Though I can't find it in their online catalog.) It apparently includes a remote receiver, a stepper-moto...
This very much resonates with me. I'm an introvert who happens to love cycling!
Are Motorcycle Travelers Introverts?
Sophia Dembling's article on traveling to . . . travel, and not to meet people, really resonated with me. Don't get me wrong, I love people, and I can be happy talking, interviewing, dining with, even riding a little while with random people I meet on the road, but then, when I get back on my ...
I build a nice trailer for my Ural sidecar rig using a small trailer kit from Harbor Freight.
Build your own motorcycle trailer
Got more time than money? Who needs those silly panniers, anyway? Here's a nice post on Adventure Rider on how to build a trailer for your bike. Towing anyone?
