please do this. please please please. If not for the lulz, for the ascot!
Because it will give me an excuse to buy and own and wear an ascot.
Last night, I was out having a drink with a friend of mine. Because we are both nerds and writers, our conversation steered into nerdy writer territory and stayed there. It was unseasonably warm, so we sat on an outdoor patio -- one of the few that isn't rendered useless to me by an army of smok...
My cats, Kermit and Otis, go at the toilet paper/tissues/paper towels too. Your cat Tweets are definitely my favorite :)
She rolled a sixteen. Good for her!
When Ryan was a Junior in college, he moved to a place where he couldn't have cats. Anne and I agreed to foster them until he took them back. That was nearly three years ago. When he moved across the country for his job, we officially adopted the cats we'd been fostering for years. Ryan misses t...
I hope to be this cool of a TrollMom when I have kids =)
In which I am a Trolldad
Ryan's home for the holidays, before he moves far, far away for his new job (hey, check out my son! He graduated college last week, and he starts a great job in two weeks! Go Ryan!!) The first night he was home, I told him that the warm covers for the bed he's sleeping on were in the dryer, so...
I don't even have a choice. I've had a pacemaker since late 2004 and all subsequent flights have had to receive a pat down. Luckily, nothing terribly invasive so far but I have not flown since July so when it comes time to fly again in either June (Toronto) or October (D.C.) we'll see how aggressive it gets. I'm sorry you had to go through this :/
I don't feel safe. I feel violated, humiliated, and angry.
Yesterday, I was touched -- in my opinion, inappropriately -- by a TSA agent at LAX. I'm not going to talk about it in detail until I can speak with an attorney, but I've spent much of the last 24 hours replaying it over and over in my mind, and though some of the initial outrage has faded, I st...

I'm a devout member of the Church of the Bat Signal and while I think what Grant Morrison did with RIP is unforgivable, I'm still going to give to the collection when it comes to certain characters and titles (Zatanna stands out right now). Streets of Gotham has some seriously gold moments, and Batman and Robin is stellar and worthy of a read.
What is fun for me, though, as a Bat-fiend, is going back and collecting older stories, titles and collections that involve my favorite villains (Joker, Harley Quinn, Scarecrow with some Mad Hatter & Poison Ivy thrown in for good measure)
I feel like The Marvel Universe is too vast and overwhelming for me to be inclined to start on it, and I have only dabbled in a bit of Deadpool and X-Men over the years.
I am sure with my boyfriend's ever-growing collection of Marvel titles, however, I will eventually grow curious enough to cross religions.
It's Wednesday, so here's a post about comic books
When I was a kid, I was a DC Universe guy all the way, with rare forays into the Marvel Universe to read a few X-Men books, and the occasional Silver Surfer 100 page spectacular (remember those? I loved those oversized one shots in the 70s and 80s.) I realized last week, though, that the bulk of...
Wil -
This really hit home. Stand By Me was, and continues to be, a profound movie that shaped me particularly because I related so well with Gordie - as an outcast, a budding writer, a devoted friend and as someone who felt she lived in the shadow of an older, more talented brother. I am thankful for you reaching out to us like this and sharing your raw feelings.
Though I hadn't seen him in over twenty years, I knew I'd miss him forever
I stood in the lobby of the Falcon Theater in Toluca Lake, and looked at Twitter while I waited for the rest of the guys to arrive. The walls were covered with posters from productions like CHiPs: The Musical and It's A Stevie Wonderful Life. Being in a theater during the day, when it's just a b...
Your fans are a fiercely protective bunch, Wil. :D
in which a good person is kind
My son Ryan was home from college all week for Spring Break, and I kept expecting him to grab one of my logged-into-Twitter devices to tell the world how awesome I think he is. (I pretend to get all mad, but I secretly love it when he does this.) Today, he went back to school, and I went out to ...
You two are adorable and your love simply radiates! Congratulations :D
to mark the passage of three thousand six hundred and fifty-three days together
We went to Napa for our tenth anniversary. For the record: being married to your best friend rules.
Awesome. I love the snippets.
>>"It's ho ho horrible,"<<
Hahaha, slow clap worthy or not, that quote deserves a genuine applause.
Your breakfast scrambles sounds nummy, but makes me even more sadface that I am allergic to soy. I only eat organic land meat and not much at that. I did however come up with a killer tasty vegetable lasagna!
you may ask yourself, "how do i work this?"
I stayed up way too late last night, waiting for Nolan to get home from the Horror thing at Universal. When I was younger, staying up until 3 was no big deal, but making it past midnight is a serious challenge, especially since my stupid brain insists on waking up between 7 and 8 no matter when ...
I can't wait for your Big Bang Theory episode! Also, I plan to hit up our local game store (which is the same as yours) for a charity game night as well (though not a delve). I hope they're down with that sort of thing.
Everybody walk the dinosaur. Well, except for you. You're not working out.
I have no idea what the title of this post has to do with the content of this post. In fact, I think there's no relation at all, other than the fact that I wrote them both. But when your brain compels you to quote Was (not Was), it's best to just do what it says, and slip in a Simpsons reference...
LMAO! I had no idea where that was going and I was getting very concerned for the girl - as I should be! Those Cthulhu are dangerous! Does this mean you'll be bringing Munchkin Cthulhu to the set of Big Bang Theory?
"Don't trust anyone you meet online. You could regret it."
(from Cory Doctorow by way of John Rogers on Twitter)
I can't wait to see this episode! The Big Bang Theory is my favorite new show ~ Pasadena represent, man! Did you buy Guillotine at Game Empire? I love that game! Can't wait to see your episode of BBT!
the big bang buzz
The Los Angeles freeway system, having thoroughly vexed me yesterday, was more forgiving this morning, and I arrived at work fifteen minutes early. I am happy to report that the simple joy of driving my car across the Warner Brothers lot, between sound stages and behind golf carts and past dozen...
I am so sorry for your loss, Wil. I lost my beloved cat of 16.5 years in 2007 and though it's been over two years, I think of him every day. I think the best posts on your blog are when you are talking of your every day life, and Ferris was a star here.
through the fish-eyed lens of tear stained eyes
My dog Ferris, who was rescued from a bus stop in Monrovia by my wife Anne almost exactly 8 years ago, had a heart attack and died this morning. It happened very quickly, and I was with her, which is supposed to make me feel better, but at this moment all I can feel is nearly-unbearable sorrow, ...
I relate to this post and that article on so many levels XD
time to write
Working on Leverage inspired and stirred up all those weird things in my brain that make me an artist. In an effort to maintain the creative momentum I experienced while working on the show, I went directly from wrapping my episode to working on this series of short stories I've wanted to write ...
I love it when you post about your dogs. I just spent a whole hour on Blog Talk Radio yapping about my cats; one of them has a similar issue to Ferris, dragging rubbish around to munch on. Bizarre, lovable, maddening creatures!
an all too familiar scene
Sitting in my office, my brain is in that weird writer's fugue where time blurs and I take -10 to all my passive perception checks. I realize that my dog, who has spent much of the day at my feet, doing everything she can to capture my attention, isn't there. I'm not sure how long it's been sinc...
"Look, introducing Wesley – a teenager – as part of the main crew is like introducing a new product that consumers may not like."
So...Wesley was like the New Coke of ST:TNG? =D I always liked him; but that's probably because I was a kid, watching another "kid" on a grown up show.
I don’t know much about brain scans...
Each entry in Memories of the Future is broken up into sections: the synopsis, some quotable dialog, the obligatory technobabble, a behind the scenes memory, the bottom line, and a final grade. I'm striving to strike just the right balance among the main sections, and working very hard to be hum...
