Typical Betts game. If isn't blocking a shot he is useless!
On the move again
Packed up and ready to leave for the Pittsburgh airport so I can get to tonight's home opener at the Garden against the Senators. Here's the game story from last night's 3-2 loss to the Penguins from this morning's Record and here is the notebook. I'm sure you loyal blog followers have your own ...
Andrew I beat you to the story look at my post on the previous story! I am now a cub reporter, just call me Jimmy Olsen!!!
Rangers part ways with Zherdev (Update)
As expected, the Rangers have just announced they will walk away from a $3.9 million arbitration ruling for Nikolai Zherdev, with the end result being the mercurial 24-year-old right wing will become an unrestricted free agent after one season in New York. More on this later but, again, this is ...
The Rangers just announced they have walked away from Zherdev- BYE BYE NICKY!
Today's schedule
On the road this morning (as well as tomorrow) to cover a non-Rangers event in Albany. The Nikolai Zherdev decision is due by around noon today, possibly sooner, and will be posted here as soon as possible. Also, there's Sean Avery access at the practice facility today and I'll try to get you th...
Sather went making a great move to a real bad move. You just dumped salary and you invest it back in a over the hill has been. Bad bad move!
Your new enforcer (Update)
The Rangers have signed veteran heavyweight Donald Brashear, last seen knocking soon-to-be-ex-Ranger center Blair Betts out of the first-round playoff series against the Capitals. Brashear is one of the most feared fighters in the NHL. More details coming. UPDATE: Brashear's deal is a two-year d...
SAy goodbye to Dany Boy! Go after Gaborik ( on the cheap ) due to his injury history and try and get Komisarek. Then let the kids do the rest
It begins anew?
So Dany Heatley has refused to waive his no-trade clause and accept a deal to the Oilers. Here's a good analysis of the situation by TSN's Bob McKenzie. Does this mean the Rangers could get back into it? Or are they done, as in done, with this? Most likely, tomorrow will bring the answers. Then ...
The last sentence should start with " JUST "
Caps-Rangers at Stadium in '11?
That outdoor matchup seems to be one step closer with the Flyers poised to play the Bruins at Fenway Park on New Year's Day. I still think the NHL missed a great opportunity - putting aside the logistical issues that played a part in the no-go - of not having the Rangers host a game to close the...
Andrew, come on your better than this! With the draft coming up in 1 day and rumors running amok all over the place you come up with a potential game in 2011???? Jes give us something better than that to chew on!

Andrew, I'm seeing some rumors that th eRangers are going hard after Heatley. Any info on that? Another rumor has the Rangers negotiating with Antopov who is looking for $4MM per, any word on that?
The rundown
Finally, the start of what promises to be a fairly busy two-week stretch in the life of the Rangers, as I'm sure you're all aware and anticipating. Tomorrow at 3:30, barring some unforeseen voting catastrophe, Brian Leetch will be announced as a member of the Hockey Hall of Fame induction class,...
As much as I love hockey, it would be hard for me to watch other teams have success while the Rangers while wallow in mediocrity.
Relive the glory days
Passing along this programming note from the folks at MSG. On Sunday, to celebrate the 15th anniversary of the Rangers' Game 7 win over the Vancouver Canucks in the 1994 Stanley Cup final, MSG will air 10 hours of programming about the team's last championships, including rebroadcasts of Games 2...
On top of Cindy Crybaby winning the Cup, we have nothing to look forward too unless some GM feels like taking some of our overpriced under achieving players off our hands. For the first time since I've been a Rangers fan (since 1968)I'm not looking forward too the season.
If Sather can't pull a fast one on another team it's going to be a very loooooonnnnnnggggg season!

I can see giving them a shot but I would keep them on a short leash!
Keep 'em or not
As the Rangers' brass gathers in California this week for the organizational meetings to map out a strategy for the upcoming draft and next season, we thought we'd offer some unsolicited advice. Last week, we went down the roster and graded the personnel. Here, we'll make our recommendations as ...
If possible I would listen to any offers for all and any of the following:
Gomez
Drury
Rozival
Redden
And I'm not looking for a big return because with these idiotic contracts that Sather the loser signed them too you can't expect a big return It has cost us and will cost us down the road for as long as any or all of them are with the team.
Richie your comment about Gomez being a number 1 center, well that's only on this totatly flawed team! A number 1 center is people like Marc Savard, Nicholas Backstrom or Joe Thorton not Gomez at best he is a 2nd line center.
Ranger fans need to accept the fact that hopefully by moving out some of Sather's garbage signings maybe the team can develop some of the young guys currently in Hartford at th eNHL level but that also means the team has litle chance of making the playoffs over the next couple of years. However if they can clear enough cap space by moving some of these guys out we maybe able to get a physical d-man and a scorer or 2 but only if they can move those lousy contracts out. Keep in mind the rest of this current roster is filled with nothing more then 2nd, 3rd and 4th line players. The Rangers DO NOT have 1 top line player on the team, NOT ONE!! We as fans will need to be patient in the coming years it just doesn't look all that promising right now.

This was seriously flawed team from the onset so Sather gets a BIF "F". Other than Hank the talent on this team is at best B's and C's overall and not just for this season. The Rangers have ZERO top level talent and will be nothing more than a barely make to the playoffs teams and when they do make it, well you know the song One and Done for years to come.
The final grades
Consider this the first of a two-part blog. First, we'll go through, player by player, the Rangers final roster this season and hand out the end-of-season grades. Next, in a coming blog, we'll go through the final roster and recommend whether to "keep him," or "dump him." For instance, Henrik ...
Who cares who gets the "C" or the "A"? This team has a lot more to worry about then the alphabet. Worry about getting some scoring and someone who other players fear when then get close to Hank. Baed on this past season maybe everyone should wear a "Z" and work their way up!
Naslund makes it official
Well, maybe I wouldn't walk away from $3 million (or, more likely, $2 million after a buyout) but classy Swede Markus Naslund gave back to the team that gave him an opportunity last year, officially announcing his retirement just about an hour ago. Here is our story from today's editions of The ...
